s/fur I wanna do some 3D modelling to make some floofy porn, but one thing I find tricky with modelling humanoids is that since I box model, there's edge loops going all the way from head to toe; and I don't like that the mesh resolution of the paws and muzzle are tied to each other.
What's a nice clean way of diverting or breaking edge loops so I don't have to put up with this? Or is trying to disconnect the mesh resolution of various body parts stupid and should I just git gud at 3D modelling?
2D art skill and 3D art skill is pretty much mutually exclusive. I've never seen anyone who's good at both.

build the head and paws separately and then use diamond patterns to connect the vertices to the arms, legs and neck. You can see how it's done by looking at high end models. Or you can build the model with seperate features, then just join them in the rig and use fur to hide the seams (I think).

On side note, before start doing something try to learn how to do it first, it helps I've heard. As the other user said, read the fukkin guides.
I've considered doing that myself, but I could never find a good way to do it and never seen any models that do it.

The hands were built separately and then the edge loops were combined down into diamond patterns (by the wrist) to match the lower resolution of the arms. You can do this same thing with the head and feet.

I did, I went through a video tutorial series before getting into box modelling. I'm decent at box modelling, I end up with good results, but I'm wanting to get better because edge loops that span the whole body are a major inconvenience.
It's a dead board, which is nothing but noobs asking easily searched questions that are the reason why sites like lmgtfy and lmddgtfy exist.
Made some great 3D paws on another computer but that computer died.

Neat, I notice though that the method only works if the difference in mesh resolution is a multiple of 2; although I can't imagine it'd be common for it not to be so. It'd be interesting to see if a nice clean technique for handling that case exists but it might not even be mathematically possible.
Also, I think I tried out that method before but didn't do a very good job of implementing it so I gave up, I should try it again.

Selene Leni. A good trick for finding a character name is to look at what things you can see in the image that you can ascribe e621 tags to, attempt to find the image on e621 based on that, and the name should be there.
