This is exactly the point. Why is the Deep South so intent on having it as their flag? It happened 150+ years ago, let it go. Quit hanging on it. Make something else your flag other than a banner which represented a secessionist army.

Having the rebel flag as the state flag only points to a lack of accomplishments of the state before or after the Civil War period. Sounds to me like Mississippi (and Alabama/Georgia to a lesser extent) need to reinvent their state identity, because if being a bunch of butthurt traitor cucks is what the state is going to show to other states, we're going to treat the state like a rebellious traitor cuck.

You can't just pretend that the flag doesn't represent EXACTLY the only thing it has ever represented (a rebellious army against the United States) and then use your reason for wanting it as the state flag is "oh, it's just history".
The rebel flag is an extremely well designed flag, but it unfortunately stands for treason. If the states want it to be their flag, they have every right to, but they'll be treated like a bunch of ignorant fucking morons lost in the past with nothing else to represent their state.
If anybody is butthurt here, it's you, because you refuse to face the history behind the flag and are attempting to separate the meaning and design of the flag because "muh history". Unfortunately, flags do represent something.
