How do I get into Star Trek without being bored to tears?

How do I get into Star Trek without being bored to tears?

By watching it instead of asking boring questions

Maybe the show isn't for you, user.

Looks like you should stop watching it and use your time to do things you personally enjoy more, like starting obvious bait threads on Sup Forums

Watch the old movies. I love them.

Original series - watch the best couple episodes first to break it in- then watch as normal- then watch the second movie and go straight to next generation, watch recommended episode's from s1 and 2 then watch from s3 onwards

What is it with all these people recommending to skip over 80% of tv shows all the time?
You're not one of those normalfags who's time is actually worth anything are you?

Start with the movies. First Contact and after are more action paced so might get you into it. Generations is a good mix between the slower pace of the show and the more action movies. If you like that try the old movies from 2 forward. If you're still into it then hit the series, either TOS or TNG.

I don't watch much tv, I'm limited to 2 hours a week and now an hour is lost to robot wars so

Can I start with the newer movies without watching the original series?

Are you asking random neets and trolls, if it is okay to watch a sci-fi show in a specific order?
Do whatever the fuck you want.

how are you being bored to tears?do you have adhd or something because at least the datedness should be entertaining as well if your not in the story too much?

You can watch whichever movie you want. They're all pretty self contained, with the exception of Star Trek 3, seeing as it picks up the plot from a previous movie. I think First Contact picks up off of an episode of TNG. The reboot movies though, you can watch those without having seen anything - they deal with time travel and just create an entirely alternate reality to the rest of Star Trek, and are filled with action. I'd skip Into Darkness though... that movie sucked, both as a Star Trek movie and an action movie.

Enterprise>TOS>Movies to Generations>TNG>rest of Picard era Movies>Voyager>JJTrek

Delete yourself

Weirdly enough someone recommended Star Trek to me this morning. Watch the first ever episode, turns out the world famous billion dollar franchise of star trek is actually good

Read the summaries and pretend to have watched them.

Fan Collective DVD boxes are goo way to start. Those contain best episodes of all shows and most of 'em are organized by the theme, so there is bit of overlap in episodes.

You're lying if you don't think a lot of the the original series moves glacier slow

Even TNG has times where it drags on

You can't.

I watched TNG as kid with my dad. Reconnecting with the series I watched the movies with the original crew and then watched TNG in its (near) entirety, followed by all of Enterprise after not becoming attached to the first couple episodes of DS9 and VOY. I then finished DS9 and VOY. Currently, I'm slogging through TOS. Peppered within this entire debacle are the first two nuTrek movies. I'm almost done. My mission is nearing completion. Ask me anything.

What's it like knowing you'll never touch a woman?

I don't know the answer to that. My mother hugs me on a regular basis. Next.

It certainly is the most efficient, if not logical solution.

Are you a pleb, and want to ease yourself into the most patrician sci fi franchise ever?
>The original movies starting with Wrath of Khan
>TNG
Do you like it? Are you in for some more?
>DS9
You following me camera guy?
>Voyager
>ENT shut the fuck up bandwagon faggots
Are you kind of upset that there's no more trek to consume? Don't worry, we saved the best for last
>Now watch TOS
At no point ever should you watch the next gen movies. If anyone tells you differently you are perfectly safe dismissing any opinion they have about anything ever, because they're tasteless shitheads, and its a waste of time talking to them.
Are you still there? good because this limited time offer now includes
>TMP - this is science fiction, completely devoid of mouth breathing pleb fuel or pew pew

TOS is great, but its campy, and has low production values, so it's not exactly the best way to ease yourself into the franchise, you should get around to watching it if you ever want to call yourself a true nerd.

Watch DS9 hombre.

>Not knowing that Star Trek is socialist propaganda written by a self proclamed communist

>star trek is written by a single person.

never watched star trek in my life, the newer movies are great to watch for a newbie

Get an attention span.

>without being bored
It's not for you then.

Star Trek was always stated to be post-scarcity
