Blew Up Because They Died

Who are your favorite artists who are only popular for dying early/before blowing up?

Kurt Cobain.

Agree with all except Dolphy.

He was a legitimate genius who was starting to get quite a bit of recognition and appreciation even before he died.

holy shit OP how did you forget this. Also add Nevermind the Bollocks

>Sparklehorse
>not Elliott Smith

the fuck

Troll thread

Bradley Nowell for sure. On the contrary im gonna have to go with Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon. They had so much potential to be a highly successful band and were cut just short of reaching that point.

like 90% of those aren't even popular you pleb

This.

All those albums are just internet memes.

I guess "popular" to OP means like 2 thousand plays on Spotify.

A huge chunk of these were already very popular before any members died.

Didn't know that anyone from this heat or broadcast died young

Yeah, Trish Keenan of Broadcast got swine flu and pneumonia, which ended up killing her.

I don't even know who Broadcast are, should I listen to them?

Biggie was one of the most popular rappers in the world before he died though.

If you like first wave post-rock then yes

Nice

Who died?

The vocalist

this

...

Gil Scott Heron only died like 5 years ago, don't think he belongs in that.
Dj Rashad has not really become more popular since his recent death either.

Nick Drake & J Dilla definitely are the epitomes of this.

>no 2hack
>no Nirvana

Celer and Woelv should be on the list.

>2hack
who

2pac

I had no idea the Women dude died.

jeff buckley

>All Eyez On Me went like 5x platinum before 2Pac even died
>Me Against The World went platinum not long after it came out and
>First artist to have a #1 album while in prison

I hate when underage redditers give their input on something they aren't even old enough to remember.

>Screw
>Deceit
>No mention of Nirvana or Sex Pistols
Wew lad.

Nirvana were already huge and would be just as big today if Kurt didn't kill himself.

>This Heat
Wat

>Alice in Chains
When Layne died, the band wasn't even popular anymore. Hell, they released another album, 2EPs and a GOAT Unplugged after Dirt, all of those with Layne.

eastman is definitely not popular

David Bowie

I think you misread the OP

Trish Keenan from Broadcast died literally like six years after their last album came out
Go outside

Her death made people interested to check out hte band

Wait who died with Flipper

ha ha what the fuck is Gil Scott-Heron doing in there. His work was already well known and respected in the 70's.

He even made a relatively well received and popular comeback album before he died - sure in the early 2000's his prison sentences and drug problems showed him in a poor light, but he did overcome that. Maybe there was some more normie acknowledgement, but he was definitely pretty well known while alive.

lol
