I'm making city flags for the neighbouring district, but many have just a coat of arms, should i stick with the old style of withe backgrounds or use a transparent one so its not a flag but an actual coat
I'd personally like the latter more, what do you think

Pretty bored at work today so I updated the checklist addon to include regions for each country alongside the world flags page.
I'm still working on it but if anyone wants to try it out download and drag onto browser (firefox only):

Transparent background sound nice, but in reality it comes out strange on Sup Forums and it's hard to see what's pictured. Stick with COA/white background.
hm it actually looks okay forget but the only reason i feel inclined not to include it i because i feel like it because it isn't a flag, it's more heraldry if you know what i mean

It would need updating as everything is bundled inside the addon at the moment, but I could push updates automatically through mozillas addon store when this version is uploaded.
I can pull flag images from the flaghunters repo but it was quite slow generating pages on the fly, its a good idea though I'll have another look into it.
Releases from now on should keep track of provinces and world flags as long as you use the same computer.

but if no flag exists, the coa on white background isnt a real flag either, so in my opinion a transparent background would be more authentic

I get that, but this is /flag/tism not /COA/tism. It was already sort of a stretch including COA and seal flags, but actually including COA takes it too far - plus the entire system would have to be overhauled and it doesn't mesh well with current flags.

if theres any color on the coat of arms try to make a lighter shade of that color the background. also coat of arms are resized to 11x11

I stopped using this because the geographically-separated parts of the coastal states aren't connected so you have to bucket fill all the parts manually

Well, the reason we chose white is because it's a neutral color which signifies nothing.
