because dom & roland is better
wrong to be quite honest
Is Photek the king of dnb
bump
first post worst post
>owned Modus Operandi in the 90s
>listened to a couple weeks ago for the first time in two decades
cringe
drum and bass was a mistake
>drum and bass was a mistake
jungle wasn't
>drum and bass was a mistake
Your life was a mistake faggot
if we're being completely honest photek is absolute shit now and dom is still doing quality stuff
sorry, lived it. Tried listening to some of the Mo Wax stuff again too, and it did not hold up any better.
But Photek at his peak was much better than dom ever was
>some of the Mo Wax stuff again too, and it did not hold up any better
Alright you're just taking the piss now.
Trip hop aged like shit. Drum and bass, on the other hand, is timeless.
no serious. kinda liked it when it came out, but aged like shit. borderline insufferable now.
>Trip hop aged like shit. Drum and bass, on the other hand, is timeless.
feel the exact opposite way
either explain yourselves or go shitpost on reddit
This track came out in 1995 and still holds up perfectly today.
idk man. Maybe I need to throw on a Spiewak and go to a lounge and try and recapture the feel.
Couldn't even make it through 30 seconds.
Drum & Bass is grating
What was going on in the mid 90s where this was appealing?
>Couldn't even make it through 30 seconds.
You are a disgusting plebeian and you should leave this board and never come back.
timeless
I hope this is bait but the state of Sup Forums is so bad that it wouldn't surprise me if you're being serious.
>What was going on in the mid 90s where this was appealing?
Oldfag here. In the mid-to-late 90's, drum & Bass was a refuge for a certain kind of person who while they found the increasing puritanical vibe of indie rock stifling; still found the rave scene to be too hedonistic and the club scene too faggy.
It's true. Drum & Bass didn't age well.
>aged poorly
Compared to...?
True. D&B and 'illbient' where the great mistakes of the mid nineties.
speed garage
>all these DnB haters
FUCK OFF REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
>mid 90s rock
>mid 90s hiphop
>mid 90s R&B
>trip-hop
>2nd wave emo
I could go on....
All of these aged like milk. DnB still sounds fresh and interesting.
DnB sounds like a grating hangover on the LES.
>I need to throw on a Spiewak and go to a lounge
Kek
It was a simpler time bros
So I guess I'm the only person on this shithole of a board who appreciates drum and bass and especially Photek.
You faggots worship your flavor of the month memerappers and gay indie bands but you call DnB a mistake.
Fuck Sup Forums I need to find a better music board
The fact the 2017 rework of Inner City Life is barely different to the original is proof enough that classic DnB hardly aged at all.
if it's aged so well, why is it never played anywhere? I live in NYC and haven't heard this shit in 15 years.
>NYC
there's your problem
Just fuck off back to your indie folk threads or r/music or wherever you come from
yeah, I don't think that's it. I'm going to go w/ 180bpm being annoying as shit.
Could you be any more of a generic cookie cutter "safe" faggot
>Goldie's timeless
>didn't age like milk
K
see
90s Tricky > entirety of DnB
Not really there used to be a trip hop night at sound factory
Don't know about it anymore
So it didn't Age with the times then
>trip hop is the same thing as drum and bass
Would you clueless faggots just get the fuck out
@72547936
K
No one gave a shit about dnb while they did for trip hop
back in the 90s the only electronic genres in america were big beat and trance for the rave heads and trip-hop and dnb (and the fusion genre "illbient") for the """""""""""'sophisticated"""""""""""' crowd
also idm for the mallgoth crowd courtesy of trent reznor's label
>drum and bass is too "grating" for the average Sup Forumsfag
I wipe my ass with this board.
Who is this cornball fruitcake using Reddit reactions ? Fuck outta here with your fags using trackers and korg m1s

Or
>muh Reese bass
these
>I didn't even listen to the track but this track is bad
This board is a fucking joke.
And yet you're here with us .
I bet you're a Radiohead fan.
Kys
who knew the followers of a dead meme genre where so REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
What music do you like? I bet your taste is trash.
.t fag that still listens to pendulum now that they changed their name and play dubstep
I don't listen to Pendulum you drooling retard.
T. Listens to pendulum
that rework literally just made it worse
this board has basically no understanding of electronic genres and Photek turned to hot garbage immediately after the 90s
Jungle is just so much worse than house and techno
>Photek turned to hot garbage immediately after the 90s
But that doesn't undo all the great music he made in the 90s.
And a few of his more recent tracks are not bad.
House is trash. Literally just plebified techno for normies.
Music with an actual feel that you can dance to isn't a bad thing
Of course a fan of Photek and the rest wouldn't get that.
>muh jazzy breaks
youtube.com
jungle is underrated on mu and that shouldnt happen
You can dance to techno and it is superior to house in every way.
Not really. Techno doesn't have the funky groove of house.
House is for Chad and Stacy. Techno is the thinking man's dance music.
Damn. First time I see a Photek thread on Sup Forums.
Don't worry OP I love D&B as well but this board was never the place to discuss it. Too few of us around here.
Anyways, Photek did make some of the genre's greatest tracks. It's a shame that he ran out of ideas for others. 'Rings Around Saturn', 'UFO' and 'KJZ' are masterpieces.
God damn you are a pleb. Take a listen to dimension or roni size or bad company or even mefjus
>Tfw I like DnB
>Tfw nobody likes current Shit
>But this came out
>Pendulum
>They now make Dubstep
>It's all for shits and giggles
>It actually gained attention
>People actually LIKED that music
>Tfw rob swire looks dead inside now
Knife party was a mistake
So this whole thread is "your favourite genre aged like milk" no, "your favourite genre aged like milk" without any actual arguments. Great job.
DnB still has its refinement and has so many variations of it. The problem with other things is that you get very little variation unless they know how to switch their styles
Photek is like current value, but photek has more melody to him then current value
this
old skool jungle with reggae/dancehall influences is great
d'n'b that came after it was formulaic shit. Especially when mixed with jazz
>old skool jungle with reggae/dancehall influences
ew
intelligent jungle >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> ragga shite
What's the difference between this "intelligent"/non raga jungle and drum and bass?
When you take the reggae/dancehall out of jungle, isn't that literally what drum and bass is
One is able to be skilled and varied, and the other is total shite
Would early Photek be considered jungle or DnB
Id say both, but more jungle. If you want DnB, it's stuff like origin unknown and shimon and bad company's first few releases
Bump
>dnb is bad!
>has anyone else heard the new Father John Misty LP?
This to be perfectly frank.
Indiefags are cancer.
>DnB is great!
>*Posts pendulum-Immersion
You're the only one in this thread who keeps talking about Pendulum.
