prevents winning

It prevents your defense.

Prevents the win.

>Unironically giving up one 15-yard play after another with 1:30 left
I seriously hope you don't do this.

this

In prevent defense, you are guarding a team that is either good at scoring or bad at scoring.

If good, you "prevent" big plays that they are more likely to bet, making them work little checkdowns instead of a big pass immediately.

If bad, they probably still wont score enough to win.

It's SUPPOSED to stop teams from getting the big, 40+ yard broken coverage play by having people downfield already. Instead you just give up 10-15 yards every fucking play and is the dumbest thing in football yet every team does it.

It can't be dumb if bellychick is doing it

it's useful in certain situations obviously, but this game was too close to let them have those free yards. they shouldve separated themselves perhaps 10 yards from the receivers, forget playing press coverage but they just went full retard and backed up too far.

Prevent is fantastic defense for guarding the last second hail mary. In fact it's the only logical call.

It's dumbasses who use prevent with 3 minutes to go who peopke bitch about, but the defense itself is fine.

Loses Games.

It apparently makes you lose

at home
after a bye
to a team that has a tie
that you have the psychological upper hand on from the last meeting
even if you have the GOAT qb with the league's best offense

Bill isn't infallible. In fact, I think he's getting senile by trading two of the best defensive LBs in the NFL for pittances
>but muh contracts!
should've let Jones go AFTER the year was over and a possible Super Bowl win. Collins trade was just hoodie-on-feet retarded (>b-but freelancing!) And these decisions are coming after he decides to throw an easy game at the end of the previous season instead of going for the #1 seed.

tl;dr Bill is making more and more dumb decisions and it cost us the game because our defense blew chunks and would have BTFO the 'Hawks with Collins and/or Jones still with us.

> Trading Jones and Collins

That was either just completely stupid, or completely arrogant. Maybe both.

The Cowboys game is the best example of when you have to use prevent, you need to use it when there's little time left and force the offense to do a check down and hopefully waste a lot of clock

In NFL terms, you sacrifice field position and yards for time. Essentially you cover sidelines and deep threats in 8 defensive backs to zone cover the field anything form 15 yards or more. What the defense gets out of it is a successful play but normally the play takes so long to develop and execute that it eats up alot of game time.

In Sup Forums terms, it loses games and is shit

The reason Belichick uses it is because his players are mostly drilled to do that. Hes big on preventing fumbles, big plays, and consistency of execution.

If he had another superstar like LT, then maybe he could mix it up more and keep the other side guessing, which is another one of his top priorities, but for now he focuses on establishing consistency with what he has.

it is a meme in the modern nfl now

teams are so afraid of giving up a big 70 yard dragon touchdown they sacrifice the short stuff and in 2 minutes they give up the same 70 yards because they get death by 1000 cuts on the short stuff that really isn't short because it's easy for most QBs and WRs to get 10 yards and run out of bounds when the entire secondary drops back

prevent is good when you have 30 seconds or less and depending on timeouts of course. if it's a full 2 minutes, just play your normal sets. if the offense scores you're fucked anyway but if it's 2 minutes and they eat up all the clock you are fucked. it's almost better to be the complete mad man and let them score quickly if there is a minute left so you can get the ball and do it to them

Prevents doubles in the gap

See

It worked for the Ravens last game against the Steelers

>21-0 in the 4th
>pretty much annihilated both pass and run game
>let them throw to the middle of the field
>run the clock
>prevent injuries
>win the game

It's basically the defense version of running the ball, the point being to chew clock. Eliminate big passes and passes to the sideline, let them throw for medium gains over the middle, tackling them inbounds and running down the clock.

It's one thing to do it up three scores, it's another when it's a one score game.

I'm thinking she's a 'Good Girl' - would've been a prime target during The Fappening for sure and we got nothing.
