Gas - Narkopop

more like Anarchopop lol

Stars of The Lid - And Their Refinement of the Decline
Brian Eno - Music for Airports
William Basinski - The Disintegration Loops
Klaus Schulze - Mirage
Ashra - New Age Of Earth
Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972
Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works (both volumes)
Windy and Carl - We Will Always Be
The Tree of Life OST - Alexandre Desplat
Bladerunner OST - Vangelis
Diamanda Galas - The Litanies of Satan
2 8 1 4 - 新しい日の誕生 (Birth Of A New Day)

All of these I've handpicked from my collection as my very favourite ambient albums. There are some classics and some hidden gems in there but all are amazing. Get them.
Also, pic related

Bvdub - The Art Of Dying Alone
M83 - Digital Shades Vol. 1

Kill yourself

Good post user

>Diamanda Galas - The Litanies of Satan
LOL

i listen to that when i wanna hear the shrieks of the devil and tortured women screaming, it's absolutely fucking great but by NO means ambient

you must either be trolling or picking this title because it's tagged as ambient on your library, probably never even listened

the only galás album that comes close to being ambient is the first one, second song tragouthia

...

...

No brah it's definitely ambient.
Listen to it all again with headphones in the dark
really loudly.

Small Craft on a Milk Sea - Brian Eno

>Tim Hecker - Ravedeath 1972
Am I alone in not being able to listen to Hecker as ambient music at all? His stuff, especially from this decade, is way too noisy for me to put on in the background

You're not alone. I love it but agree that it blurrs the line on whether or not it's ambient

you're ignorant my friend

What I'm currently digging:
The Black Dog - Music for Real Airports
Monolake - Hongkong
Deepchord Presents: Echospace - Liumin

>pic related - this is exactly what you're expecting if you listened to Liumin

Nice taste.

Here are some of my favorites you haven't listed.

Infinite body - carve out the face of my god
Bing and Ruth - tomorrow was the golden age
Ekkhard ehlers - ekkhard ehlers plays
Keith Fullerton Whitman - Playthroughs
Brock van wey - white clouds drift on and on
Emeralds - does it look like I'm here
Jurgen muller - science of the sea
Laurie spiegel - the expanding universe
Brian eno - discreet music
Benoit pioulard - sonnet
Ben frost - by the throat
Voices from the lake - s/t
Biosphere - n-plants
Fennesz - endless summer / Venice
M83 - red cities, dead seas & lost ghosts

Ambient isn't meant to be only enjoyed in the background

>Monolake - Hongkong
>Deepchord Presents: Echospace - Liumin

Both great but more techno than ambient I would say

The Residents - Eskimo
The Residents - Mush-Room
The Residents - Coochie Brake

>ambient should be background music
Brian Eno was a mistake

...

This is really great, I've wanted to own something of his on physical for a while now

Damnnn I always mix up techno and ambient :(

One of the most perfect little EPs ever made. Fell asleep to it dozens of times, in a good way.

I think all his physical is fake

>never fallen asleep to the blissful tones of Diamanda's ringing voice
You silly.

...

...

Brian Eno

I'd say a lot of his albums are closer to dark ambient. Harmony In Ultraviolet is a lot less noisy than Ravedeath.

I enjoyed this post. Gonna give it a light to decent [the digit at the end of my post]

Eno's philosophy was that ambient can work as both active listening and background music.

brian eno - ambient 4 on land

wish it was longer or there was similar stuff out there, love this ep too. 105 scrobbles of it lmao

I know what you mean, maybe try Ulrich Schnauss and Hammock if you haven't?

oh I like hammock, I'll try this guy out too, thanks. I used to listen to C418's One album a lot as well
