Why didn't Dumbledore just challenge Voldemort to a duel?

Why didn't Dumbledore just challenge Voldemort to a duel?

because he was literally immortal...

but he could have at least bought Harry some time while he was looking for the horcruxes

By time you mean at most 15 minutes? Voldemort is much stronger than dumbledore he only fled at the Battle of the ministry because he was about to be out numbered fifty to one.

So what if he would be out numbered if he's literally immortal? Also if voldemort was so much stronger than Dumbledore why was voldemort afraid to attack harry at hogwarts?

Remember when Voldemort was gone for like, 13 years? It's because his soul was still alive, but his body was gone. It took a lot of work, scheming and a shit ton of difficult black magic to give him a body again. His body could die, but his soul would remain. His followers would eventually be able to get him up and running again, but he was at the height of his powers, and didn't want to give anyone time to regroup and fuck his shit up when he returned.

If Albus had lost in the duel, which was a very real possibility because Voldemort is no slouch when it comes to duels, then Voldemort would have gotten the most powerful wand in the world (the Elder Wand)

Also, the poster above is wrong. Voldemort and Dumbledore are a pretty good match for each other. Voldemort's probably a bit stronger, but Dumby's got an unbeatable wand. One on one, V-Man could probably take Big D, but with McGonagall, Snape, Lupin and the rest of the crew, there's no fuckin way he wins that.

and btw for everyone else the elder wand is very powerful but isn't actually unbeatable. Death doesn't actually exist. The 3 brothers did and likely invented the different tools, they have a grave and everything but being the master of death is just a children's tale

Daily reminder that Dumbledore is now canonically gay

What was his Voldemort's end game? Just live forever?

Why didn't Dumblydore just call Voldormot a mother fucker and shoot him?

>All it takes to defeat the 2nd most powerful wizards in the world is a loved one's sacrifice

How does anyone in the HP universe kill more than 5 people tops?

He originally wanted to better society for the greater good, however in attempting to make himself more powerful so he could do it he ended up going insane and losing sight of his original goals as he slowly tore his soul into literal pieces.

This is a universe were magic exists, dragons exist, soul eating ghosts exist, immortality potions exist, but you're not willing to believe the personification of death made some artifacts?

And create a world for wizards only

I don't remember if they ever got into specifics about his plans but I'm sure he wanted to either eradicate or enslave the muggles/mudbloods

They aren't usually given the chance to sacrifice themselves. Harrys mom did

>He originally wanted to better society for the greater good

you're joking right?

Voldemort was always an asshole, he was just less of an asshole before he left Hogwarts to go learn some #rare dark magic

He fucked with kids in his orphanage and used the basilisk to attack mudbloods

He was popular and shit because he was manipulative and clever and convinced everyone except Dumbledore he was a great guy

he had already opened the chamber of secrets and actually killed a few people including his dad by the time he was like 14, and made some of them into horcruxes

guy was a dick, through and through

Nah he was more like ~16 when he first killed someone

He only killed one person (myrtle) with the basilisk the rest were just injuries

>why was voldemort afraid to attack harry at hogwarts?
Oh you mean like when he attacked Harry in the first book.

This place keeps getting more and more retarded.

Why didn't professor McGonagall call the police when the school was being attacked?

voldemort wasn't actually stronger than dumbledore, laddies

like you have literally no evidence voldemort was stronger

They are close..but remember Dumbledore defeated Grindlewald, who possed the Edler wand.
Dumbledore now has the Elder wand...Dumbledore is a straight up boss and Voldemort knows it. Could Voldemort beat him...maybe, but unlikely. Also, it was shown so much during Harry storyline, but it is established that Dumbledore is an aboslutely ruthless wizard when it comes to combat. There is a reason EVERYONE including Voldemort are afraid of him. By the time the story takes place, he as mellowed out as an old man.

*not shown so much during the Harry storyline

I never said that you moron. Anyway prime Dumbledore already beat an evil wizard in the past. I'm sure that he would kick his ass if he wasn't immortal, besides Voldemort wanted the elder wand because he was too beta to deal with Dumbledore shit, he couldn't even beat Harry in book 4.

So there you go Voldemort is a hack but he did tried to kill harry in book 1, 2, and 4.

voldy didn't even know about the elder wand until dumbledore was dead for months

Dumbledore knew he couldn't beat Voldemort in a one-on-one duel, because of Voldemort's imposed "immortality." When it came down to it, the killing curse could kill Dumbledore in a single flick of the wand, and the killing curse could not do that to Voldy. Moreso, from a moral standpoint, I doubt Dumbledore would even launch an avada kedavra at anyone, even the embodiment of evil. He knew Tom Riddle as a child. Part of him probably still as compassion for him.

God, I need a girlfriend.

Take over both worlds and enslave the mud bloods.

There's a scene in DeathlynHallows were they show a statue in the ministry of magic. The statue is humans being enslaved by wizards.

Still why don't they just slap this little shit after they know his dad is a death eater.

Dumbledore literally says that even at the height of his powers, he couldnt hang with Voldemort one-on-one. Voldemort

I always felt like Voldemort feared Dumbledore more of a psychological fear, Im sure he knew he was stronger than Dumbledore, but he just had a weird fear of him because Dumbledore introduced him to magic. Also, Dumbledore had defeated Grindelwald, long considered to be the second-most-powerful dark wizard after Voldemort, and Voldemort didnt want to risk going after DD

you may be right about the psychological thing

they did stress that during school Dumbledore was the only one who "saw through" him when they were both at Hogwarts

that probably bugged him

Reminder that Voldemort got absolutely blown the FUCK out by Dumbledore at the Ministry of Magic and there is nothing you can do about it.

Because he's just a child forced into a pure-blood supremacist family and brainwashed by his family members. Even Lucious and Narcissa were'nt loyal to Voldy, just the cause. Also he has coin. He did deserve that sectum sempra though, for sure.

This, #NotAllSnakes

At least his cunt father did, by the dark lord himself! He deserved so much more though.

Did we watch the same movie and read the same books? Literally the only reason Voldy left was because a fuckton of aurors showed up. DD was barely holding on to dear life and delaying by putting statues in thr way of Voldy's spells. Voldy was a few moments away from STOMPING him to a quick death

Your father was a cunt

The true nature of the hallows is ambiguous but the number of times Harrys cloak failed shows that the hollows are not unbeatable simply Strong .
