Do you think anyone gives a fuck?

I use keys.

Hobbyist would.

Keys are for mongoloids.

Why did you waste time learning how to pick locks...
If you really want to get into something you just need some good pry bars.

youtube.com/watch?v=GZDl_R8Zp2E

You can open a car? Have you tried it?

do your parents know you are a raging faggot??

Because some of us like the challenge and don't rely on brute force to get into something we can get into in seconds. Also, I can tell you that even the best pry bars won't open the vast bulk of good security locks out there. Neither will even 42" bolt cutters. Sure, you can drill, grind, etc., but why destroy when you can pick?

Car locks use a wafer lock system, and they are incredibly easy to pick. Yes, I have, and a decent set of wafer jigglers will get you into most vehicles rather quickly.

Do you own a fedora? From that sentence alone it sounds llike you do

I do not wear hats.

how hard is it to open an old timey door lock at a old metal door?

Will you pick the lock on my chastity belt?

How old are we talking? Most locks made in the last 110 years are pin tumblers, and anything made before the 70's would not have any security pins in it. That said, if it's a pin tumbler made before the 1970's, I could rake it, rock it, zip it, or kinetic attack it open in seconds. No need to SPP it if there aren't security pins.

Got a pic of the lock in question?

Got a pic of said lock?

idk it looks very old but id guess the key doesnt have any `teeth`or how ever you call it

>I have babby's first pick set, a random padlock, and a see-through eurocylinder
>I pick locks
>You guys should ask me questions

Hold on, I'll get my kid sister to post a thread.

> Not at my work desk, so using my pocket kit.
> Also just grabbed random locks out of the bucket
> Eurocylinder for practice on paracentric keyways and because it was cheap.

Anything else?

did you ever think about using your lockpicking skills for illegal activities?

>kid sister

MODS MODS MODS

If you can post a pic of it, I can tell you what you need to get into it and how best to attack it. Without knowing more about it, I can't really say.

Are you ever fearful of the legal system?

holy shit OP you picked the fabled masterlock #3 that's basically a medico

time to quit your day job and become a full-tiome locksport world champion

Nah, just a hobby. Unless you count going to the local lover's bridge and picking locks off of it left by couples.

Do you have any actually secure locks there? Those are beyond amateur hour and dont even require tools to pick.

thoughts on this?
youtube.com/watch?v=ySQ13XRAwCU

are you living in cologne?

The #3 is shit, yes I know. Most people easily recognize it, however, so it's relevant. I've got a Medico i've gotten open a few times. Gutted it and put in better pinning to send off as a challenge lock.

can you give me your kik? ill send you a pic as soon as i get close again

North Florida, actually.

Too scared of the noise? Smash the fucking window. I got a lock pick set too. Would a standard rake and tension wrench work for opening an old car door?

I've got my ABUS, Medico, pre-Master American Locks, and a bunch of challenge locks out in the shed.

nope, no reason to be.

Yeah, why did you think any of this would be so interesting to other people it was worth making a thread just so they could talk to you?

I mean I could make "I whack it to porn cartoons AMA" too, but I don't because I have no delusion that everyone wants to ask about my whacking techniques.

...which, you'll be astounded to hear, is just slightly too far away for me to have gone and got any so I could make an OP that doesn't make me look like an absolute beginner.

Should be pretty easy

Even most lockboxes are easy to pick because people know nothing about security and buy cheap pieces of shit. The last one I picked had just two fucking tumblers. click, click, turn. Weird thing was I couldnt, for the life of me, manage to re-lock it. Thankfully noone noticed but I worked at that fucker for like two hours nonstop, so keep in mind you may not be able to close what you open.

>Thread has replies and questions
>Doesn't answer to you

Not OP

...

op can i get your kik or sth similiar? i can send you a pic as soon as i get close next time

It would work very well on old Ford and GM models that took 2 keys, one for door, one for ignition. Car doors that have wafer locks are very rake-resistant, so while it CAN occasionally be done, the odds are not in your favor. Those are best SPP'd.

No kik here, sorry bud.

Yeah, but only the question "why are you such a mongoloid?".

Good online documentation where I can properly learn?

I've picked filing and storage cabinets at work with 2 paperclips, one straightened out and one that is regular to turn the tumbler. Those locks are simple

locklab.com

Bosnian Bill is a wonderful teacher if you can only learn online. He's not even close to the best picker out there, but he has decades of experience and explains what he's doing in the best detail that he can.

I see two junk locks and a really cheap set of tools.

Those locks are trash, generally. Worse than anything Mastercuck has ever produced, and that's saying something. I've picked one of those with a zip tie.

The Southord MAX set is $12 a pick, and you call that cheap? You're retarded.

Same here. Seems more like OP had $40 and an Amazon Prime account.

Literally must have only one or two pins in it.

>Not at my work desk, so using my pocket kit
>Nah, just a hobby

> Southord products are not on Amazon
> Hmmm

Thank you user

> Implying someone cannot have one desk for their computer and another desk for their hobbies.

I can use a slim Jim on a car, but I would like to properly learn how tumblers work and use picks

You're welcome!

Yes? Southords tools are generally trash. Last time a bought a pick from them I spent 20 minutes just trying to reshape it into a something usable.

Most cars aren't tumblers, certainly not in the last 20 years. They're wafer or laser tracks now.

>SouthOrd pxs-15
>master locks
>cutaway practise locks

Not impressed, come back when you can open locks that require actual skill.

Wafers are even worse. Sliders are only good if the tolerance is relatively tight.

> Spent 20 minutes cleaning up picks
> Thinks he knows picks

How about Sparrows, Peterson, etc.?

I bet you think Huk makes some mighty fine picks huh?

Oh by "work desk" you meant another desk in your bedroom where you keep your lock picks

got it

I was speaking home locks, came across wrong

> Grabbed random locks out of boredom
> The Southord PXS-14 case is great for EDC
> I see no cutaway locks there, blindfag.

Where did you buy the tools from?

>master lock
>cutaway euro cylinder

Come back when you can open real locks.

I'd rather spend $8 a pick at Peterson's or $4 a pick from sparrows then buy any southords picks. At least I can rely on those companies having so.e sort of quality control.

lockpickshop.com

Are you Skyrim?

Wow, someone's been buying from Massdrop lately huh

Still have to clean those picks up as well, and the Southord MAX is made of better steel. About 80,000 PSI higher tensile strength than the usual 301 stainless Peterson and Sparrows use.

sad cunt

what are some useful household objects that could be used improvizationally to pick locks

Depends on what's installed in the doors, friend. Most people have pin tumbler locks from Kwikset that are garbage. I've got a pin in pin dimple lock with 2 side bars and an active element on my key that only forms when it's in the keyway. I cannot pick my own front door, so I'm happy with that.

I know I have to clean those picks. 5 minutes with a price of sandpaper to smooth the edges out. I don't have to grab a piece of 400 grit and actually reshape the shaft. As for the material, I've never broken a pick thicker than .018.

Alright, when was the last time you picked open an Abloy, or a Mul-T MT5?

>Any commercial pick you have to clean up. I go from 40o to 600 to 1000 grit then polishing compound on my picks. Takes just a couple of minutes per pick.

Point is, I've never gotten a BAD pick from any of the three, I prefer the ergonomics of the Southord and the steel they use.

Hobbyist lockpicker here as well. looking into getting into the actual practice of locksmithing (yes I know there's a lot more than picking), but right now I'm just faffing about with challenge locks. Made a mean one with serrated, pin in pins, and false sheer lines that I've yet to pop.

If you have the means to grind them down to fit into keyways, i've found that forks will work if you don't have any picks. Likewise, the metal insert from a car windshield wiper blade will work stunningly well as a tension wrench. In fact, most pickers will use them to make their own tensioning tools instead of buying commercial ones.

kek at the masterlock

Add a serrated spool to that mix and you've got one nasty lock. Kudos, fellow hobbyist!

All pickers kekgasm over mastercucks.

I was taking it easy, as it's my first real challenge lock. I've popped spools and serrateds before from storebought locks tho

Nice keyboard, I have the same one.

Did you thread the pin holes? Adds a whole nother level to the nastiness.

What kind of picking tools set do you recommend for a newbie? I saw the Sparrow Tuxedo set, is that good?

It's a good place to start. Grab a DeForest Diamond pick to throw into that set, and grab some heat tubing to make some handles out of and it's good. The case you see in my pic is the SouthOrd PSX-14 set, and it's a great set as well, though it's missing a DeForest and a Bogota. Those are easily added in as well as a set of TOK peterson pry bars. Makes for a well-rounded pin tumbler kit once it's all together. Durable case suitable for EDC as well.

Do NOT go buying picks on Amazon or Ebay. They are garbage, and you don't need 50 fucking picks.

Yeah, some but not all. It's crunchier than a bag of cheetos.

Where do you learn how to do it?

To add to Standard hook, Peterson Gem, medium hook, Deforest Diamond, Half diamond (small), a W rake, City or L rake, bogata, snake rake, half ball, BOK tensioners, TOK tensioners, feeler gauge, and a broken key extractor are all you need for a great starter kit that will open a large amount of locks.

Check out BosnianBill on youtube, He's got a few good videos, and he does a lot of reviews for picks.

Bill is a great place to start. Agreed 100% He also does giveaways that can snag you some neat shit.

Thank you very much.
I know lock picking thanks to him, one on the best lockpickers on youtube.

He got me started years ago. I saw one of his early videos pop up on my suggested list and I've been part of the tribe ever since.

what do you think about bump keys?

What's the best way to get started and to learn?

can you pick a mortice lock?

lock-lab.com will get you started.

I've never had one in front of me, so I couldn't tell you.
