What movies will reach cult classic level in a decade?
What movies will reach cult classic level in a decade?
Drive
...
>Huge financal flop
>Loved by the few people who saw it
Once this ends up on DVD/Netflix, this will have a huge fanbase. Same for the Nice Guys
There is no such thing as cult classic anymore. With the diaspora of media and ideas, the concept is inherently obsolete.
They new division will be only based on popcorn flicks and steak flicks. There will be those that argue a more advanced version, a Kino if you will, but there is no true kino in the world where popcorn sells and steak meets (meats lol) its margins.
Given that, Drive will be a steak flick.
Already a cult classic imo
Yes
Maybe.. I liked the movie
...
I can see this getting a fanbase, espcially if it flops.
where the hell did you get these buzzwords, sanjuro
My hands are real dirty.
...
This. It's already doing really well on home video apparently.
I can totally see future Chris Chans liking this the way he liked family guy
Dope
nah
MelMac will be like a God to them
...
Green Room
The Hateful Eight
was this even a good movie?
cult movie doesnt mean GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD
No
Dredd, already a C.C.
Fury Road
Pacific Rim
>the same Fury Road that blew the fuck out of the oscars
I don't think you get what Cult Classic means
Is it still a cult classic if it gets a sequel?
Yeah
If Shock Treatment is any indicator
YES
I hope it does get that kind of recognition, already underrated as fuck
Tremors too
Is "cult classic" better than "kino"?
What about cult kino?
lets see,
>Hardcore Henry
>BvS is kind of already
>The Witch
>Most Refn films, Neon Demon and Drive come to mind
>maybe Gallows
>prehaps It Follows but it sadly doesnt hold up as well upon rewatch
I probably use it too liberally, yeah
>Allegedly, Susan Sarandon has never actually seen the film to this day.
Really makes you think
It was just a rehash of Dazed and Confused but less charming.
No, not at all.
Drive and Dredd, definitely. Seriously some of my two favorite movies ever period, already cult classics tbqh
Dredd was quite forgettable and i dont really see a audience for it in a cult sense
lotta people on Sup Forums love Dredd
Agreed about Dredd. Liked it a lot more than The Raid, which I found amateurish, dudebro-esque and generally in poor taste. I honestly don't give a shit about how much effort it took to shoot it, it's a failure as a movie.
Which makes me question why I even like Dredd that much. It's not a whole lot different, but it certainly has more charisma and a vastly superior atmosphere.
and?
Edge of Tomorrow
Nightcrawler
Speed Racer
your audience is here
What made it a bad movie?
whiplash
all Paul Dano movies
>Budget $3.3 million
>Box office $49 million
Not a cc
Yeah, sure... hotshot.
I said, hotshot.
Sounds awesome to me. Dazed and Confused scratches a very particular itch so if this is even close I'm glad I saw it mentioned here.
I don't know if Edge of Tomorrow has that kind of power desu
I liked it a lot, and it was a really nice flick that delivered on it's premise in a pretty satisfying way, and it even did pretty respectable numbers at the box office, but it just doesn't strike me as a movie that people will be digging up decades from now and hailing as an underrated masterpiece
Spring Breakers
Fuck man, I'd say the same about Nightcrawler.
Yeah, I would have been RAVING about this movie had it not been for the Dazed connection.
Still liked it a lot, but knowing it's just a redo takes away some of the praise.
>implying Sup Forums capeshitters have even heard of the films that will become cult films
