The Count of Tuscany

The Spirit Carries On

Hands down
Its a story of a lifetime

Metropolis part 2

No need to listen to anything beyond that, it's all in there, they could have retired after that and they would have achieved they same shit they have with an extra 25 year career.

Listening to these to compare to And Scarred wasnt even close. Hope the others are better. Change at 4:40 was great but not close to count.

Dream Theater is shit, though

I wouldnt even cite them as a top ten band and clearly not true. Piss off loser, back to the rap thread.

Caught in a Web

They have some legendary tracks despite their general mediocrity.
In no way a shit band you twat.

Solo was very good too, but I prefer storytelling. Going to next.

Metropolis is very fucking good.
I was wrong about scarred too, the solo was outstanding. Ill have to think about it.

Count was more emotional.

Yes thank you. It's so fucking comfy. Listening to it always makes me feel good

I listened to Scarred and metropolis part 1 and had to go back to count, Its too romantic.

From each album, with * indicating the best of the best, I'd say (feel free to argue)

Afterlife
Learning to Live
Space Dye Vest
A Change of Seasons
Trial of Tears*
Home
The Glass Prison
In the Name of God*
These Walls
In the Presence of Enemies
Count of Tuscany*
Breaking All Illusions*
Surrender to Reason
Haven't actually listened to The Astonishing

daily reminder that kevin moore was the most talented member of the band

I feel that DT is at their best when they try to be more emotional than musically complex, like with space dye vest, spirit carries on, and most of the songs on black clouds and silver linings
>haven't listened to the astonishing
Lucky you

A Change of Seasons

What was your aoty 2016

I've only heard Scenes from a Memory, what are their best albums?

The Astonishing

My favorite is Panic Attack.

The Dance Of Eternity

This.

On the backs of angels

Hollow years

I just like songs with emotional solos and DT has them and petrucci knows how to deliver, I love this band and LaBrie

>I feel that DT is at their best when they try to be more emotional than musically complex
I feel the same way, its just that LaBrie and Petrucci are really good together in emotional songs.

/thread

I never understood the reason for hate towards DT, besides of course them being successfull and actually making real music with real skill and busting their asses

Came here to post this
I mostly don't care for DT but this one song is a prog anthem

The reason people hate them is because they prioritize musicianship and accessibility over songwriting
They're very capable of writing good prog, but most of their works either fall under the bland wank category, or under the bland ballads category

This or "Learning to Live"

Metropolis pt 1

I only know like 5 tracks but that's Repentance for me.

The Gift of Music
/thread

...

Because their music is overproduced and soulless.

>real music with real skill

That's the problem - they're so far up their own asses with technicality that their music just sounds complex for the sake of it - the most superficial and emotionless band I've ever heard. Hearing them attempting ballads in The Astonishing was the funniest thing I heard in 2016
