Puzzle thread? Puzzle thread.

1+1=0 6+6=2
2+2=0 7+7=0
3+3=0 8+8=4
4+4=2 9+9=2
5+5=0 10+10=?

Please explain how you reached your answer instead of just giving me answers. Guesses will not be accepted.

10+10=20
All the other equations are wrong.

What do I win?

hmm I feel like ruining something for everybody today, answer is 2. its measuring the number of holes in each letter. seen this shit before. GIT RIKT

Funny, but you have to use the other equations to get the answer.

I hadn't seen it before and I got it BUT THEN I SEE YOU SPOILED MY POTENTIAL ANONYMOUS "GLORY" BURN BURN BURN

That was quick! You have any puzzles you'd like to share?

Okay.
10+10
=1+1+2+2+3+3+4+4
=20

1000110 is "mingle"
1000110001100 is "ape"
what is "polite"

Glad I know now

100011000110001100 ?

Now that you mention it, why not spread a bit more chaos?

6÷2(1+2)=?

Enjoy fuckers.

9?

3 squared

1

use the order of operations dumb asses

OK, so converting to Roman numerals

1000-1-10 is MIX, as in mingle
1000-1-1000-1-100 is MIMIC, as in ape

so the last one must be a word meaning polite that can be constructed using the letters available in Roman numerals

"polite" is to not hit you in the face and mingle you with apes for this stupid question.

Forgive me if I write it wrong, it's from memory and I just learned it today.

What is the largest area you can fence in if you have 4 fences. One 4 meters, the second 3 meters, the third 2 meters, and the last 1 meter.

Bonus points if you explain the math.

I have no eyes, but I can see
I have no arse, but I am bootylicious
I have no elbows, but I can do the robot

What am I?

12m?

10+10=6??

if that's right, i'll explain.

If you explain, I'll tell you if you're right.
Can you explain how you got that?

No cause it's wrong
also fence in the entire world minus tiny square

10+10=2
It has to do with factorization. 1, 2, 3, 5, and 7 are all primes. 4, 6, and 9 all have 2 factors (2*2, 2*3, 3*3). Finally, 8 has three factors (2*2*2). This gives us a general formula of (# factors - 1) * 2. So, 10+10 = 2 because it has only 2 factors (2*5).

Maybe I misread but if 8 has three factor shouldn't 8+8=3 instead of 4?

1 factor (prime) = 0
2 factors = 2
3 factors = 4
Hense the generalization (# factors - 1) * 2

ah yes that makes more sense, good thinking!

There is no subtraction or division; how did you gat a number lower than what you started with?

Brackets first

6÷2(1+2)
6+2(3)
6+6
12

Right answer, wrong reason

So I was right then?

2

you changed ÷ to +
6÷2(1+2)
6÷2(3)
3*3
9

Wrong answer, but right about order of operation.

Parenthesis come first, making this:
6÷2(1+2)
Into this:
6÷2×3

Now because all symbols are about groups and not individuals, we can simple go left to right to get the answer:
6÷2×3
3×3
9

Enjoy your day

aw shit mate didn't see that actually

>+
Dumbass

10+10= 2
Because you are counting the holes in numbers..

don't worry buddy, mistakes happen

Correct-a-mundo

This is actually not answerable for it has uncertain order of execution.

Cool. Thanks for the entertainment.

Came to the same conclusion. Therefore, must be correct answer.

Here's how it goes:

6÷2(1+2)=
6÷2*3= if you write that down in words it would look like this:

six over two times three

The two can be reduced, which leaves you with three over three (because you reduce the fraction, take away the two, divide the six by two, which gives you three).

Now you are left with 3 over 3, or: 3÷3, which equals one (1).

2

you are counting the enclosed areas in the numbers

This guy knows whats klapping

This is wrong. The order of execution is unclear because the fraction is displayed via the slash-symbol when there is also an *-symbol inside the formula. When this situation occurs one must use brackets to clarify the order of execution otherwise interpreters might default to guessing which leaves to possible answers in this case.

I know. You are absolutely right. But that's not the point here. This is meant to be "unsolveable" or at least have multiple solutions (which is a problem in itself, since an equation should not have multiple solutions). But that's why it makes for such a fun puzzle.

I get it. It's just that I as a person coming from a mathematics background always get triggered when people say order of executions is clear in such situations haha!

1+1=0 6+6=2
2+2=0 7+7=0
3+3=0 8+8=4
4+4=2 9+9=2
5+5=0 10+10=2
Count the wholes in the numbers you Sup Forumstards

Since I don't come from a mathematical background I don't give a shit about that, so I guess I can't relate. Tough luck buddy, I suppose. Must feel lonely in a world without puzzels. What do you do in your free time? Sudoku? kek
