What are your top 5 Merengue and Calypso albums?

This one

Jazz, Blues, Classical, Metal, Reggae, Dubstep, Chant, New Wave, Bluegrass, Ska, Metal, Ambient, Punk.

dance punk
darkjazz
pandiatonic classical
blackened death metal
good trap

No punk or new wave? How's that even possible bro.

Punk is for angry little kids in puberty lmao

t. dadrocker

Some of it, sure. Here's a perfect entry level album for you

Hip hop.

I mean, I have on Sex Pistols song.
And maybe I don't know what counts as New Wave.

I have two or three Clash songs, didn't even consider them.
Combat Rock seems like a good album but I didn't finish it.

No, I mainly listen to pop and hip-hop.
Used to be big into rock, I'm more into the acoustic stuff now though.

New Wave is a serious umbrella term that kind of loses meaning the more you dive into it, but this album is New Wave and a 10/10

any kind of metal except for symphonic

reggaeton

You're better off without it.

>New Wave is a serious umbrella

lol, classical, electronic and traditional folk are serious umbrellas, new wave is just another rock subgenre.

According to Google Spandau Ballet, Talking Heads, Soft Cell, New Order, Elvis Costello, Blondie, Duran Duran, and Tears for Fears are all New Wave and they're all in my library.

I'll check out this B-52 record though.

ska and raggae
there is no good trap

Where did I say that those weren't massive umbrella terms ? This isn't a competition. Recommend things to people or fuck off.

>Metal
black sabbath's paranoid obviously
>Metal
you put it there twice so I'll answer twice
khemmis-hunted

>spoonfeeding

lls never

For Reggae, unironically this

Country.

For Jazz do Herbie Hancock
For Metal try System of a Down.

candlemass-epicus doomicus metallicus

I'll give you the rundown on this , only the noise and playero 37 , el general is proto reggaeton/ dancegall . Everything else is shit .

This album got me into country

Rock
Country

Kanye is really good entry level hiphop

...

>Dylan
>country

Radiohead and Dolly Parton

That album is unequivocally a country album. I picked Dylan because people are probably familiar with him. What part of entry-level don't you understand?

literal garbage. not a punk album

Heres how I started with Classical, I find its easier to start with mostly contemporary stuff then work backwards.

If you're so unhappy with my recommendation feel free to recommend him something or your own.

Johnny Paycheck
Townes Van Zandt
Hank Sr.

Thank you, I'll go through all of these. Is /classical/ general a nice place? There are a lot of mega links in the OP. Wondering if that would be a good place to visit

Yes
Yes

It depends, they have a heavy derision for contemporary stuff but it's a good place to visit if you want something new.

Mos Def - Black On Both Sides
Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein
Deltron 3030 - Deltron 3030

All Black Metal and one Bach album, a couple ambients too.

Thanks lads. Classical is the one thing I've never fully delved into besides music class in high school or soundtracks. It is my final boss.

el bumpo

For dance punk check out Gang of Four, The Slits, Liars and the first Le Tigre record

pretty sure I don't have any drum and bass in my library, any recs would be great. esp looking for stuff with a sound closer to industrial/electro-industrial/EBM if you know any

If you want to fully get into it, my advice is to read up on theory if you haven't already (how 2 read muzik, key signatures, chords, roman numerals, basic harmonic analysis, basic musical forms) and follow along with a score on IMSLP. Perhaps don't worry about that right now but once you get out of the "hey I think I'm finally getting into this!" phase and are ready to go deeper, it's the next step. Understanding musical forms is very essential to understanding Mozart, Beethoven, Haydn, and the like at a basic level, but you don't necessarily need to know it to enjoy it, if you get what I mean.

>Classical is the one thing I've never fully delved into
that you know of

ty

Reggae and Power metal

I only have Endtroducing and Cold Vein for Hip Hop
Le Sacre du printemps. Seriously.

BOB DYLAN IS NOT COUNTRY RETARD

Aphex Twin nigga

>lls

Library music
Bossa nova and latin jazz in general

>what genre(s) do you NOT have in your library

Country and Nigga-rap. Note that the latter does not necessarily include all of Hip-Hop, Rap, or black artists in general, rather it applies to a more egregiously stereotypical "nigger" affect within the genre; like how DeathMetal is distinct from regular Metal, for want of a better explanation.

That album is. Are you autistic ?

Getz/Gilberto

For boss nova, check out

Jorge Ben - Samba Esquema Novo
Stan Getz - Getz/Gilberto
Quincy Jones - Big Band Bossa Nova

Impossible not to like this kind of music

>Le Sacre du printemps.
OP here. Holy shit!!! This is incredible. Thanks for the rec bro, this might be just what I needed to get into classical

Normally I'd help you but I can't take your post seriously and don't surprised if no one else does either.

Bump because this thread has been very helpful

>darkjazz
Bohren & Dehr Club of Gore

Basically any metal besides entry level black metal

now get yourself Boulez conducts Le sacre/Petrushka with Cleveland Orchestra and also pic related

Ooga booga, my Nigerian.

You don't have any Sabbath or Metallica? That's a really good entry point. Paranoid and Master of Puppets respectively.
Merci

Locrian - The Crystal World / Infinite Dissolution
Hatchling - The Sleep Scriptures

O'Death
The Goddamn Gallows
Mt. Moriah

Metal and Ambient

...

>Ambient
Tim Hecker - Harmony in Ultraviolet is a good place to start imo

God damnit this isn't a fucking ambient album

But it says ambient on the album cover :v)

Was that Pepe made in Sketchup?

motorhead-the ace of spades

>good trap
