I am booting from a USB to install windows 10 onto my SSD I have no idea what to do on this screen (pic) I have tried everything I can think of, I unplugged both storage devices and replaced it with another old drive I have and the same issue occurs, it displays the free space and the total size as 0.0MB. The BIOS recognizes all the drives but it is just this screen that I can't get past. I've also tried reinstalling the media creation tool on a bootable usb drive twice ech one being a new USB. But the same issue happens, help would be much appreciated. (side note i currently only have the SSD plugged in at the moment.)
Welle for one you need to create a partition by clicking "New"

First mistake: installing windows
Levi Campbell

Go to your bios settings and see if it recognizes how much space the drives have.
Jonathan Diaz
Agreed, Ubuntu Linux is pretty good. Don't know if it runs Windows games, though.
Jaxson Turner
Get a disc faggit Boot to disc Feggit
Landon Collins
Hey man I have installed a ssd in my notebook, first time it doesnt Get regonized so I connect it with a hard drive chest and formated it. Later I could install that normally.
Thomas Morgan
/thread you fucking nigger
Luke Garcia
okay do this to format it properly (not trolling btw) >Shift + F10 for CMD >type: DISKPART >in the new window type: list disk post picture of the output so I can see what to do next

Wtf is a disc

Well, as we say in the lab: "That's a hardware problem."
Did you even check to see if your drive was plugged in. If so, joke aside, did you turn it on?
Carter James
I cant find where it says the amount of storage the drive has hold on let me do the thing in the bios first
Jackson Phillips
>MFW op doesn't know what UEFI is.
Nigga run fdisk and format it properly.
Adrian Barnes
Are you stupid or just ignorant? The only way of Get the ssd regonized is formating it before.
Isaac Watson
Re-install the original OS if uninstalled already. If you can't do so, you're basically fucked.
Otherwise you need to install any OS with a valid key.
Basically what your PC is saying is that some necessary component is missing and needs to be replaced.
Jackson Thomas
op here ive already tried that you type diskpart then list disk then you type select disk 0 after that you type clean.
Caleb White
have you also done "create partition primary" and then "format fs=NTFS quick" after you do clean?
Lincoln Wright
no ill try that now hold on
Colton Turner
you also need to do "active" after "format fs=ntfs" to set the partition you just made as the primary one.
Aaron Harris
stick the ssd in a enclosure and format it from your laptop. If you don't have an enclosure run out to best buy they're like $10

ok now I cant even get into the setup I'm plugging it into different usb ports but this keeps happening
Aaron Hall
its not an infinite loop like ive seen before, its just this screen then a few seconds later the monitor goes blank but the computer is still on.
Nolan Gonzalez
Your first issue was buying a shitty AMD Ryzen build.

Andrew Rivera
fix my problem if its so easy. also nice dubs
Owen James
>Blames Ryzen for problem that probably has nothing to do with his Ryzen CPU >"Easiest OS to install in the world" >Either trolling on generally a fucking mongaloid
Tyler Smith
Try booting with CSM Compatibility Support Module, disabled.
Ethan Cook
Windows installation problems are literal hell. I once had to use cmd to fucking put the bootable usb drive onto the fucking SSD, and then boot off that so that the SSD would install windows on itself. Removing dual booted Linux was the worst computer experience of my life.
Austin Robinson
>Either trolling or generally a fucking mongaloid Implying there's a difference nowadays
Jose Sullivan
ok op here what do I do now, Its asking me to select a volume? ive never done this before so don't be pissed if I don't reply
Kevin Hall
self bump please someone help
Adrian Perry
you need to create a volume first but it won't allow you to. Make sure your SATA device (SSD) is EUFI and not Legacy and make sure if it plugged in correctly. Other than that you must have a dodgy SSD. Send it back.
John Fisher
ok ill try that, the thing is ive tried to install the OS on my hard drive too but it would just come up with the same exact thing
Xavier Sanders
If you have another PC handy try plugging them in via SATA or USB if you have a dock handy and open up disk management to see if they are recognized. If so it is something wrong with the BIOS settings, or possibly the chipset is fooked.
Jonathan King
sadly I only have a shitty laptop that I am currently using shall I take it to a computer repair place and ask them to see if they will be able to do anything?
Jason Brooks
burn a Linux Live OS to your USB and boot from it on your PC and use "sudo smartctl -a /dev/sda | less" to see if it detects their status. Unfortunately this is the last option you have apart from shelling out more money for repairs.
Ryan Jenkins
Does the ssd show up in the bios? What mode is it in?
Josiah Baker
Where did u get the windows usb from? Might be corrupt or some shit
Parker Robinson
thanks man, if I cant sort it out then ill probably make a new thread tomorrow as a last resort and if the same thing happens then ill just take it to a repairs place. hold on I'm going to have a look now
Jayden Jackson
Get the hard disk controller drivers for your motherboard. Make sure you're getting the right one and the right one can vary based on the bios setup (AHCI, RAID, ETC), put the driver on a USB stick or load up the CD. Click the load driver link on the fist screen, locate the driver and your dad will show up.
sounds to me like you need to wash your motherboard
Carter Cox
Look at me I'm OP
Oliver Green
WE DONE IT AGAIN. Sup Forums saves this poor fag from having to buy a new computer.

Close thread. Time to move our generosity to another.
Aiden Martin
HOW HAS NOBODY SAID THIS YOUR USB NEEDS TO BE USB 2.0 BOTH THE PORT AND ACTUAL USB IF YOUR USB DRIVE IS 3.0 IT WONT WORK I REPEAT USE A USB 2.0 ITS YOUR PROBLEM YOUR USB IS 3.0
Lucas Barnes
ok so I have no idea where to find the actual ssd but this is what I found, its a new bios to me so I'm not sure where to look
Oliver Torres
You don't even have to create a new partition. I find clicking next when allocated space is selected works fine for me,.
Henry Morales
user you might also want to switch your storage from RAID to achi / legacy
Too lazy to read all this shit. You did create a new partition and formatted right?
David Williams
tech support on Sup Forums. Always hilarious. I recently had to do a reformat because of a virus and got stuck in a pretty similar situation as OP. Eventually got around it somehow. There was something wrong with the way that the partitions had been created. Not really too sure to be honest. But I lost all my porn and that was most dissatisfying.
Noah Moore
I formatted it but it doesn't allow me to create a new partition, but just to make sure I did it correctly what do I type in cmd
Connor Bennett
disable secure boot
Parker Flores
ok op here the ssd is definitely being recognised and is in AHCI mode where is that option found (if you didn't know its an MSI mobo and its bios is similar to a 7170a bios)
Colton Brown
bro, try creating the partition first before selecting a volume. so, like youve similarly done in your posted image.... after you "select disk 0" type "create primary partition"
after that, you can do a "list volume" and do format ntfs
Brayden Long
try different sata ports
unplug any other graphics cards from pci and psu
fully reset bios
re make the windows 10 usb in BIOS mode instead of UEFI (see RUFUS) and legacy boot it
Jeremiah Phillips
also select legacy boot in bios instead of uefi
Christian Russell
Ok ive done that but its only showing my usb drive
Blake Young
