I actually really liked most of it, that Roly Porter remix was noisy as fuck
Noise rock is pretty broad but a lot of it is really distorted with loud guitars playing "riffs" (which are usually big walls of noise). Dissonance is usually involved.
Start with Sonic Youth's late 80's output, then move onto earlier bands like Flipper and No Trend. From there you can look towards Am Rep records for good 90's stuff
