I can't speak for him but there's been some good shit so far this year (Midnight Special, Zootopia, Hardcore Henry, Tickled off the top of my head), but there really haven't been any good big budget AAA movies so far.
Of course there are never many of those, but this year's been probably the worst batch since 2007.

It creates the illusion of plot through gratuitous set switches and inconsistent(dated) special effects. The result is a barely legible mishmash of Star Trek factoids and cliches.
I honestly can't believe anyone could sit through it and not be bored.
