Never use a chain lock unless it's a secondary, it takes just seconds to get through. When you're locking up your bike, think like a thief. If it looks like it will take more than a few minutes to cut through all your locks, it may not seem worth the effort. Ultimately no lock will keep out a determined thief, but making your bike look very annoying to steal might deter most.
