Do you have any thoughts on the most effective way to practice speed?
I remember reading, when I was practicing piano, that the playing is different enough under high speeds for brief fast attempts to be more useful than super slow and careful practice. I've had some luck with specific ideas done faster but slow metronome work has always been helpful.
I feel like some of the more impressive stuff I learn is not even consciously practiced (with exercises/drills/metronome).

Pop music hasn't been innovative for 20+ years dude. All current (electronic based) pop music is just ripping off the 80s and 90s styles. Pop bands that use guitars are no more guilty of rehashing ideas than the electronic artists are.

One in particular I remember was on a piece called Koyunbaba, in the fourth movement I had to start a distinct triplet pattern on the 5th and 6th strings, first using an upstroke of the thump(p), then rake with the index(i), the doing downstroke with the thumb.
