That's so ugly it's beautiful

yea, full loop

...

We need to give props to this one.

...

yea, the engineering in this is sweet

...

...

Always loved the Macchi. Italian seaplane still holds the speed record it set in 1934.

front is horrible, side is diamonds

thats a no from me.

come on guys

...

Always a place in my heart for the lanc

...

...

This is what I'm fucking talking about!

beautiful lines, looks like the spit could have taken inspiration from this

...

...

Trivially fascinating but maybe not beautiful! :)

Things engineers do just to prove a point.

>I bet I can put wings on a plane backwards and make it fly.

...

Yes hehe, but actually forward facing wings actualy induce lift at slower speeds, look at some ww2 BV jet bombers, they were some of the first to utilize this feature to make use of shorter runways. that x29 is fucking rad tho

'Aluminium Falcon' Thats so cool, even painted the melenium falcon on it lmao

...

...

no lancer, rly?

Fucking waiting for this hahahaa

The whole shuttle program is some of the stupidest shit ever conceived but goddamn that thing is beautiful from every angle

...

one of my favs along with Vulcan

>Not calling it the Bone

Why was it stupid?

obligatory

is that a p51 camaro?

...

...

PZL p.7

oh to be a military pilot in the late fifties and sixties.

...

ik :(

the russian fortress is better

that's not a shuttle tardo

...

no its fat and ugly

No one has posted planegirls yet? I thought this place was full of sickos.

...

this is a shuttle

Because it didn't bring anything new to the table that was strictly useful for space travel.
The Russians were able to fly unmanned missions with the soyuz since forever and they still use the damn thing because it's super reliable.

The shuttle weights a lot, can carry too little payload compared to other spacecrafts and puts the lives of 7 people at risk with basically no feasible abort procedures in case something went wrong during launch.

The whole reusability logic didn't really apply because refurbishing the thing for the next launch cost way more than expected, to the point that it wasn't more economical than a conventional rocket launch.

It was a glorified manned fairing with a terrible killing ratio, it was meant more for military purposes that were never needed and was basically responsible for stopping technological progress in space travel for a few decades because they were able to sell the concept to pretty much everyone who wanted to send something to a space station.

It failed at pretty much everything it tried to achieve.

It's an engineering marvel, mind you, and I find it gorgeous, but it was not what space travel needed at the time. Rocket launchers ended up being cheaper, safer and able to being launched with a higher frequency. SpaceX is trying to revolutionise space travel again with reusable rockets that could potentially cut costs a lot if done right.
Only time will tell.

Sorry but most beautifull plane today.

French aesthethics cant be match.

I know it's the buran but it looks pretty much identical and it made me think again about the whole shuttle program

OP here.

Yep that was the Buran; Russia's shuttle knock-off

This is a Shuttle.

cmon guise

Its a shoop but just imagine

...

ty user

awkward moment when im op lol

Where's the engine in that?

It looks shit compared to an X-Wing.
