That was a corn snake, as we call them around here. Va, just abit north of ya. They are easily confused with copperheads though. So many are killed in the confusion. Generally beneficial snakes to have around if you live in a rural enviroment. Urban, eh, not so much. Kill away. Someone else will anyhow.
