Why do I not care about the deaths of my family and friends
Why am I constantly in a passive and borderline emotionless state
I don't feel like I'm a sociopath or anything, because I do have the capacity for empathy, like for my girlfriend, I think. I don't want to harm or manipulate her and she is one of the few I care about, but have upset her many times due to insensitivity (she has anxiety, I've laughed at her for being worried about silly things without realizing it would hurt her feelings. It's not me just being an asshole because I don't want to hurt her)
I'm not in depression; I've felt that before. My life is currently fucking fantastic. I am attractive, the center of attention, love socializing, happy in a relationship, having girls flirt and push their boobs against me, constantly praised for a whole lot of things; but I really am in some sort of emotionless state and my closer friends comment on it when I've really been trying to hide it. I also have some suicidal thoughts just of being bored with everything, not due to sadness.
I don't know if I'm a sociopath or something and am afraid to go get a diagnosis on that because I don't know if I want a label on that, if I am. I might have to though just because of how prevalent it is in my mind.
And no, I am not trying to be cool and edgy. This is an anonymous website, it's not like I have a username attached to this post I'm trying to make look cool. I am extremely against the romanticization or glorification of mental illnesses and conditions. I just don't want to open up to a close friend about this.
Asher Jones
do i need to take a shit? im on the fence
Michael Green
If you don't know what empathy feels like but understand what it is, that is still technically sociopathic.
I myself lack empathy, i have tried and tried again to feel for others. But i just can't. I understand why they feel the way they do, but thats all it is, an understanding. I have no idea what empathy really feels like.
You don't need to go in if you're aware of this. Many major CEO's are found to be actual sociopaths that found out early on and used their personality traits to their advantage. Its those with this thought pattern that don't realize they can't feel empathy that become dangerous to themselves and others. Also it helps if you start lookimg deeply into your personality and what you truly believe.
Austin Gomez
because you suppress your feelings as a coping mechanism and have done it for so long that you are just used to being that way. The fact that you would even post this suggests that you at least have desire for emotion which means you do have emotion because desire is an emotion. Probably just smoke some weed and work through that shit.
Ian Anderson
Sexual abuse at a young age physically alters the chemistry of your brain and basically permanently fucks you up.
Oliver Scott
I have exactly the same. As a kid I wasn't very social so now I'm struggling how to deal with situations where I want to impress people and my lack of interest in things stems from being afraid and not knowing how to behave in such social situations.
Jayden Robinson
Thats called being A-social. Sociopaths are anti social. Look up the differences. You'll be shocked.
Ethan Watson
No just an asshole we all are

I don't know. Perhaps, I'm not sure if it's an extreme case of a "no use crying over spilt milk" mindset or something else like that.
Perhaps maybe, but even while it was happening, even though I know it's normal to not think much of being molested at a young age (because you don't know what is happening), I just remember being excited to get a copy of the new Sonic game (motherfucker who's dick I sucked never gave me that), and even later when I realized what happened, it was more of an "ohh" rather than "fuck FUCK fuck" moment. I don't know if I have a desire for emotion, emotionless can work well and can kind of serve as having yourself be a blank canvas for whatever person you want to be at the particular moment, which clearly has advantages in my socializing hobby. Though emotion would be cool if I didn't have to fake it I suppose.
I connect a lot with this reply honestly and will think a lot of it over, along with every other comment. Thanks a bunch guys

I have a very hard time processing metaphors and poems, but it sure does look like a good one, haha
Tyler Collins
Everyone must face struggle in life. Because if all were handed to you, you'd look in the mirror and seen only an imposter.
Brody Gomez
Not a problem.
We're all in this hell hole together, don't matter if we like it or not.
Adrian Peterson
Thank you, very well explained. I am now reading the poem over again and understanding it better
Nicholas Cook
Maybe youre just Autistic not a sociopath.
Hunter Walker
what do you 'feel' when killing a living thing? for food. and for whatever else reason.
Mason Gray
Have never killed anything out of intent, but ran over a squirrel just earlier and just thought "what a dumb squirrel" if that matters any. I was on the lookout after that later and another squirrel went into the road. Swerved around it. I guess I don't care too much if I kill something but if I can avoid it, I will. Kind of a no use crying over spilt milk thing I guess. Don't wanna spill the milk, but if it spilled, oh well.
Alexander Adams
Autism is just abnormal lines of thinking. So if you don't agree with mainstream logic you are technically slightly "autistic"
Since autism has a variety of severity, it can be argued that most have a slightly autistic form of thought.
Jason Phillips
intentionally killing a living being tells you alot about yourself, hence why i asked. accident happens but they dont really counts as in "they're accidents"
Samuel Richardson
You might be a psychopath. About 16% of people are thought to be psychopathic. Doesn't mean you're a murderer.
Or you're just repressing your emotions because it's easier than dealing with shit.
Hunter Murphy
So what, you'd have no reason to feel bad if you killed a person in a car accident that was clearly your fault? Or say you hit a pedestrian?
(Not, who you replied to.)
Grayson Gutierrez
Really? Are you serious?
You do realise psycopathy is not a real medical diagnosis. Its a blanket term for behavioral and emotional issues.
Luke Fisher
that's not what iam saying, if it is your fault and you know it, you would still learn about yourself if you wonder, feel bad or dont give a damn.
i was mostly speaking of edible animals, rabbit deer, boar, else, you get the picture.
can you kill it and resume life as if it's normal or feel guilty or be unable to intentionally kill it
Andrew Sullivan
Oh, you ment non human life.
So, are you saying all hunters that enjoy hunting are sociopaths?
Isaac Bennett
I haven't been put in that situation, but probably not. I know how I SHOULD feel and emulate that to those around me in other tragic situations (such as funerals (which were of close friends and family, not just some dude)). Not sure if you were talking to me because of the typo in the parentheses but I'll reply anyway
Nathaniel Wilson
no because they see it as a normal part of life, it's actually more responsible to kill what you eat, you know the value of it. (am actually a hunter)
i was speaking of accidents like, a cat/dog/raccon/deer/squirrel you cant avoid & kill, that kind of accident requier no second toughts or feelings beside his my vehicle damaged.
this is about introspection, the moment you will kill a chicken or a rabbit by hand/knife/stick, what do you feel when you are just about to strike, can you even do it. firing a gun is easy even tho then the person might regret having done it, by hand you instantly know, & having to eat it make it legitimate & no for fun (but again you may learn something else, did you enjoy it and then would you do it for fun)
Isaiah Sanchez
Well that's depressing
Hudson Collins
Welcome to reality
Christian Moore
Sexual abuse doesn't actually mess kids up, it's parental response and being told they are bad that does.
You're fine faggot tough it out.
Jordan Mitchell
Never told my parents or anybody, till now! I don't feel much to tough out. The suicidal thoughts aren't sad, rather just how anybody would exit or stop doing something that gets stale or boring.
Landon Morris
Not all of us are hunters. Personally speaking, the act of killing a chicken never comes up in my life.
Jackson Diaz
No, theres people that hunt for sport too. I actually have no issue with it as long as its done legally. Since it pays for for conservation lands for the hunted species.
I've killed several different animals in many different methods. Some were vermin so they got it much worse than others. Never did i feel remorse, but i did know it was wrong in the end. Not from a feeling i got, but from the ability to rationalize my own thoughts and asked myself why i did such things. I did learn its not right to do those things i did when i was younger and i know exactly why its wrong to do. But i still dont understand the feelings you speak of.
Its like trying to explain color to a blind man who was born blind.
Liam Brown
but buying chicken at the store does(assumption), so basically someone else does it for you, it remove responsibility from yourself and the value from the product, if you did kill it yourself you would know what it imply & also partly what kind of person you are.
Henry White
im asking this for exactly that
>I did learn its not right to do those things i did when i was younger and i know exactly why its wrong to do. >But i still dont understand the feelings you speak of.
with this information you answered the main post
Dominic Smith
How does this answer the main post?
You've lost me on this one
Michael Sullivan
Because you were molested in the third grade dipshit thats why fucktard

Jayden Myers
Wow! Forgot that every victim turns out like that hmmmmm
I know for a FACT there's nothing being suppressed. Sounds like something somebody suppressing something would say but I know I'm not.
Who knows though, maybe. I obviously don't really know why
Jeremiah Harris
Strange, we have the same sentence structuring when we post.
Are you me? Am I you?
Jason Lee
I don't know I cant imagine killing a chicken, its hard to have an imagination. Maybe Ill go kill a chicken. My friend has some.
Zachary Turner
im autist
Jaxon Cook
Yes, it is I, your alter ego
Hello from the other side friend
Alexander King
Do it, i fed a chicken another chickens intestines, that i freshly killed and gutted. Well, actually the chicken was drowned. But thats not really important.
David Richardson
Well alter ego is the wrong word but who knows, maybe it does go that deep.
Sebastian Smith
Psst, just between you and me. This is my cheat sheet to understand and describe my "emotions" to normal people.
