The point of these threads is to encourage people to look for new and interesting music. We do this by listening to and ideally discussing albums we've never heard before. Many of us already listen to new music daily, these people are in it to venture "out of their comfort zone" by listening to albums they otherwise wouldn't have, or just to have a good time.
Nibbed this nibba from a thrift store last week, I'd rec it to you but you probably won't find a download of it. Fantastic, blindingly fast percussive indian tabla music that almost functions as drone. Pretty much just sat and stared at the wall while it was playing because it just absorbs your thoughts. Wild shit, I could definitely see the score increasing on further listens, which I wholeheartedly intend to do.

about all of the /good/ electronic music I have listened to
It’s hard to describe how odd it is hearing Kool Keith, the subversive, persona-creating Kool Keith known for his constant satirical piss-takes of hip hop, playing it remarkably straight on an old-school hip hop album. His lyrical style is still very idiosyncratic, and he’s this album’s most interesting force. Ced-Gee’s talents obviously lie in his production rather than his rapping. He’s decent enough, but his lyrics and delivery are both rather corny (a RYM review points out how he emphasizes nearly every single syllable to overshadow his general lack of prowess, and I have to agree), allowing him to constantly be out-rapped by Kool Keith. The production also has some issues, but that has a lot more to do with my general distaste for ‘80s hip hop rather than anything else. It’s obviously super influential, but for a boom bap album the drums are incredibly soft, and Moe-Love’s turntable abuse gives the album a distincly dated sound that overshadows Ced-Gee’s wonderful sample usage. Keith is fucking dope, the rest I can mostly do without.

Vince Staples - Summertime '06 (2015) >west coast hip hop, hardcore hip hop
This year, Staples’ verse on the wonderful “Ascension” stole the show on Humanz, and I’ve loved him on albums like I Don’t Like Shit, I Don’t Go Outside a couple years back. His talents don’t translate as well when it comes to his own solo projects. He still holds his own, but his flow gets a tad bit stale, as does his lyrical content. The production is cool, eerie, minimal, and deliciously bassy, but it gets a bit stale as well. It doesn’t do much to create it’s own musical identity, but it mines from a lot of current trends pretty damn well. Enjoyable but nothing special.

Rudimentary Peni - Death Church It started and I didn't expect to like it, but I did. Not much else to say, it's pretty uncomplicated noisy punk.
Buena Vista Social Club - Buena Vista Social Club A whole lot of fun. I get the whiteguy wearing the fedora, thongs (that is, "flip-flops" get fucked Americans) and shutter shades vibe from this but I can ignore it because the guys are having a lot of fun. Really like the acoustic guitar in there, sounds you could cut yourself on the strings and get tetanus it's been sitting in the shed so long.
Pick a thing, if fish says Jorge Ben I will take it of the chart.

Good morning /daily/!
I got so fucked up at some random Latvian birthday yesterday. Worst part is I have a flight to Spain today and I didn't even pack. Even worse is that I am flying to US after Spain so I gotta pack for 4 weeks. I don't even have that much clothes.
Downloading the listenalong now while wailing at the teapot.
Clipse - Hell Hath No Fury (2006) >southern hip hop, gangsta rap
The Neptunes’ production ranges from really cool, brunt, no-bullshit beats to really generic R&B stuff incredibly of its time. The best produced songs are great, it uses a lot of quirky, idiosyncratic instrumentation and the rhythms are often weird and off-kilter. When it goes into soul territory, it loses a lot of steam, mainly because the focus drifts away from Clipse and their brutal tales of drug pushing and violence. The production is probably the album’s greatest draw, but the difference between the songs focused more on the rapping and the ones focused more on the production is massive, which causes an uneven album. I’d personally go for the rapping more, because Pusha and No Malice are both enthralling to listen to, generic soul beats be damned.
2.5+
A$AP Rocky - LiveLoveA$AP (2011) >cloud rap, east coast hip hop
Unlike the previous album, the success of this tape hinges on the production, specially the tracks done by Clams Casino. Rocky’s a decent rapper with more charisma and personality than real skill, and a lot of this has to do with how deft Clams is as a producer, he can make the shittiest rapper sound like they’re on top of the world with the simple implementation of a dream pop sample. “Demons” is the album’s best track, reaching “I’m God” levels of dreaminess and beauty with a much more adept rapper. The tracks not produced by Clams are definitely weaker. “Peso” is a nice take on the Houston sound of yore, and Rocky takes on a southern sound incredibly well without seeming parodic, but nothing else on this tape can reach the heights of the tracks done by Rocky and Clams.
Against Me! - Against Me! Acoustic EP (2001) >folk punk
Boasts a typically strong, throat-shredding vocal performance from Grace, as well as a boisterous, incredibly fun singalong style, but boy are the songs uninteresting. They’re little acoustic ditties, performed with passion but written without it. A good performance can only get shitty songs so far.

>John Fahey - The Great Santa Barbara Oil Slick Absolutely wonderful live acoustic guitar. Great stage banter. 9-/11
>Fushitsusha - 1st Live Sure, this exists. There's nothing to grab onto, not even a second of irredeemably. Free-improv psych and noise rock with a bit of blues rock influence. The improv is as boring these things usually are, heavily draining. 2-/11
>Les Rallizes dénudés - '77 Live Fucking hell, this is probably the most tiresome album I've ever had to sit through, never before have I wanted an album to end this fucking much. The laziest, simplest single bar melodies repeated over and over, with the same thing for the drumming behind an annoying singer with the most tiresome droney noise guitars to ever exist that never ever end. My head was against the desk, on my hands the entire time, an absolutely horrible experience.
It's 100 mins long. 1+/11 I don't know if anything here could score worse than this, I hope not.

Experimental music is, well, an experiment. There's way more chances for things to go horribly wrong for listeners. However it also brings more of a chance for a thing to be amazing by pushing new ground in the right ways. It's also very hard to classify things as "experimental" cause anything can be experimental to different degrees.

okay fine but "press start" is the ugliest font in the world. It's like you're making an indie pixel art game or something. It's just aesthetically ugly like choose something else.
