ITT: "Musicians like ____?"
Pretty self explanitory. Post artists whose style you like and hopefully someone else knows another who sounds a lot like them
Mine:

Cluster
Mouse on Mars
TVU, Talking Heads
Anyone got anything similar to Dog Faced Hermans?
interested in the replies to this
every mac thread has half a dozen posts saying he's nothing special and rips people off but they never specify who
he's kinda like sadmac i guess, very grating singing voice though
Avey and Panda on Sprit????
>he's not as famous so he must be for non-retards
Anything similar to late 90s/early 2000s Coil?
>grr don't unsult my goofpando
Cyclobe- Wounded Galaxies Tap at the Window
Catastrophic Mermaids on Parade- s/t
Laniakea- A Pot of Potted Nettles
Peter Christopherson- Time Machines II
none come quite close, since late 90s/early 2000s Coil made the best music ever, good taste
Jesus Christ how New are you
Homeshake

Death grips?
Techno Animal
Dälek
i'm a consumer, not an encyclopedia
run the jewels kinda
Blackie, Busdriver... the list could go on
Only mild high club really consistently sounds like mac (and I think they have a member from mac's old band). The rest are mostly people he's associated/collaborated with.
Blackie totally, but Busdriver? I don't see the connection.
>hurr don't expect me to know things about the music i listen to and discuss
Homeshake and Calder are both way better than mac but he gets to be famous because he's so goofy. IT'S NOT FAIR
Can anybody recc me anything even remotely close to Ween's Pure Guava
have you listened to Homeshake? Their first records are pure slacker boy Canada indie rock with some more jazzy chords thrown in.
Clipping, Blackie, Dälek, Ho99o9, Blackhandpath
Some of Shabazz Palaces' and Danny Brown's stuff kind of.
blackhandpath are pretty underrated too
Venetian Snares
Soft Hair :) it has conan mockasin in it its partician tier
this
butthole surfers
Are there any other bands that sound like Slint, that did it good?
>no june of 44 or rodan or bitch magnet plz
Looking for bands in the same vein as:
Buke and Gase
Deerhoof
The Evens
Daniel Avery
Women
Actually not even similar bands necessarily but just other bands you'd think I'd like based on those
As someone who listens to a shit load of downtempo, there surprisingly isn't anything like Lemon Jelly.
Zero 7 has some tracks with a similar sound, but even thats a stretch. youtube.com
If you want something a bit chiller, but still with the acoustic vibe of Lemon Jelly, you might want to check out early Four Tet. youtube.com
There is literally nothing like Coil
Ariel Pink - FF
Yeah i like homeshake, and I think he's carved out his own unique sound and really not all that similar to mac. He's a lot funkier and jazzier. Didn't like fresh air though.
Albums like this
musicians like
>remo drive
>rozwell kid
>esquivel
>born ruffians
or anything easy to get into. im tired of playing around with post rock and ambient kind of stuff. i want something i listen to for half a minute and know im in for a good listen

divine styler

It's one of a kind m8. Dean blunt-black metal is kind of similar but not nearly as enthralling or well produced.
Look up the phrase "progressive metal"
red is a very unique prog album
its a world apart from the genesis / gentle giant / yes's of the world
Put Palm - Trading Basics on that list for Slint. Drummer has said in interviews he directly rips off Britt Walford.
...
have never heard - ill download and put it on there in a sec
This makes sense
Adding to this. What are bands that don't necessarily sound like death grips but leave you with similar cathartic feelings? Like pure ear candy.
Yes, I know this.
Prog Metal and Heavier Prog bands are as close as you'll get unfortunately, at least to my knowledge.
I got a little bit of Red vibes from Porcupine Tree, although it's much more modern, helps that Fripp worked on that album.
...
if i had how much you do on Mac Demarco on 10% of the artists i know, i'd be locked home listening to music 24 hours a day
sorry if music isn't a chore to me
not quite as slow or sad but close-tier
>go to Connan Mockasin show
>see a dozen people with Salad Days shirts
hmmm......................
