Sup Forums I really want to move to San Francisco. How can I do this on a minimum wage job? I plan on moving with a friend or two so keep that in mind.

do you want to live in the city or in a suburb of?

Preferably within the city but I wouldn't mind being in a suburb.

well if that's you in the picture , you could always just be a cam girl

> wants live in SF
> minimum wage

My sides.

Unless you wanna jump off the Golden Gate Bridge forget about it. You'll be broke and miserable

bam spiderman thread

How much fucking money do you think fast food and grocery store workers that live there make?

It'd be extremely hard and I would not recommend trying it. Living in SF on a minimum wage job would be terrible. You realize drinks are like 10+ bucks a pop there right? Fuck that. You couldn't go to shows or do anything fun. You'd barely be able to afford rent even in the cheapest parts of the city.

No you want to move somewhere cheaper. Move to Portland, Oregon. Rent is, and I mean this seriously, 1/3rd the price of SF, they aren't as common as they used to be but cheap bars do exist there. Free shows do exist there. Public transit is great too and there are many more free things to do there than in SF. You'll like it better if only because of finances, trust me.

...

They catch transit in or live with their parents honestly. I'm sure some make it work but it doesn't sound fun. Plus if you think it's easy to get a job at a grocery store/as a barista/whatever minimum wage job you intended to do there you're in for a nasty surprise.

Pretty much this. Even the worst of shithole apartments are like $1500/month, minimum. Average is more like $3k.

SF is decidedly unfriendly these days to anybody but highly paid tech works. I plan on getting the fuck out of here because I don't want to be surrounded by nerds and those who are scared shitless of losing their rent-controlled apartment.

Have you even bothered seeing what the rent is like?

Fuck you, I'm a Portland native, we don't need any more californians here. Rent prices have gone up dramatically in the last few years and it's only getting more expensive. Most apartments are at least $1000 a month now.

I don't drink, I just smoke weed. The person I am planning on moving with also knows a band that lives there, Pardoner, so we will basically get into shows for free if we really want.

As I said, I am moving with one or two other people.

...

All of the PNW is getting full of fleeing Californians, sounds like. Nobody wants to move back to the midwest and deal with the winter.

Back to the midwest? Almost everyone I know is either from OR or WA

In California? in CA I know mostly midwestern folks, a bunch of east coasters, and then a bare handful of PNW people.

Moving with one or two other people still means you'll be paying 1000+ a month in rent each, not to mention everything else is expensive as fuck there (groceries etc). Don't be condescending and imply that we didn't read your post. This is all even with your 1-2 friends.

I grew up in Hawaii bruh so don't talk to me about what it means to see your home gentrified. These things just happen. And as long as Portland is a decently cool city that is as cheap as it is, it'll only continue happening. Portland is undervalued right now and people realize it. Telling me to fuck off isn't going to change that.

$13/hour minimum wage
9:00/5:00 job is 8 hours a day
$13*8=104/day
$104/day*5 days=$520
$520*2=$1040/paycheck
You get two paychecks a month
$2040 each person
$2040*3=$6120through the house each month before taxes

WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

moving in with 3 people doesn't change that rent, rent alone, is $3500 a month provided you can get approved and afford the $10,000 security deposit.

Get a job at the airport. Minimum wage with the union there is 15/hr, live just outside of the city, get 2 roomies for a 3 bedroom and you're looking at 1000 a month in rent.

provided you can get full time

Sorry about that. It just gets me heated. I'm moving soon anyways, so I guess I'll see how much it goes to shit when I come back to visit.

the airport is an hour drive in traffic away and you don't just get a job in the bay area, not that easy. Most places will post a job advert for contractual reasons with no intent of filling it (h1b's for instance)

If you have some money to start, like 3 months worth, maybe you could find 3 people jobs like that. I doubt it though.

Let's just say I know for a fact that they are hiring.

What the fuck do you think my fucking source is nigger

You want to spend over 75% of your income on rent? Go ahead faggot SF is entirely overrated. Im curious why you want to move there.

I've been stuck in the central part of California my whole life and I don't wanna be stuck here forever.

San Fran is one of the most expensive places on this planet to live.

Houses on the cheap end are 300-400k which is outlandish, considering I'm closing on my house in 2 weeks with 2,000 sq ft and half an acre of land for only 75k. IN San Fran, my house woul dbe worth over a million dollars.

Rent on the cheap side is 1200 dolalrs for a DECENT apartment.

Best of luck, OP. Unless you're sucking some serious dick, contractor, CEO, Ph.D etc, you're not going to last long. Doctors don't even do that well there.

>he thinks rent can be had for 1200 in SF

>the airport is an hour drive in traffic
bull fucking shit it's about 15 minutes

Well, fiance at the time had an apartment in Walnut Creek which is about 20 minutes from San Fran. 2 bedroom, 1 bath, kitchen and medium sized living room was costing her 1,800 a month.

And it was only decent. Figure you can find better prices somewhere.

I live in Walnut Creek now and a 2 bedroom 1 bath appt. for $1,800 a month is an absolute fucking steal.

don't do it, there is literally NO reason for you to do that.. you will be homeless almost working min wage

>How can I do this on a minimum wage job?
You cannot. Sorry.

Actually, I take that back. There are plenty of homeless in SF, Oakland, and Berkeley.

dude california is overrated everyone hates trump for his real estate shit he did in new york but doesn't hate any of the jews behind making it just as bad as new york in california. shit's lame dont do it

Awesome place, but not worth the money, which is why my and my fiance split - we couldn't agree where to live.

I bought a house and my mortgage is only 400 / month after insurance.
2 story, 3 bedrooms, 2 full boths, large kitchen with new marble counter tops, medium sized living room and dining room, small utility room and a 1 car garage, half an acre of land. Nice cul-de-sac neighborhood.

I'd hate to live in a dem state. You guys are getting fucked in the ass

As a small business owner in SF, let me start by saying SF is great to visit. It's terrible to live and work here. My wife and I got extremely lucky during the housing collapse and managed to buy a 1000 sq foot shoebox in RWC for 815k. Let that number sink in. Some 6 years later, this dump of a place is now appraised at 1.35 million. Our mortgage payment is 3200 a month.
Rent is insane. A 1 bedroom in the ghetto of Bayview (off 3rd Street, near Carroll) is now 2900 a month. This is a block away from police shootings, robbery, and a methadone clinic.
Jobs for under educated (that's me!) pay like shit. I was lucky and hard working enough to secure some investor cash to start my own business, but my employees are all complaining about how expensive, dirty, and rude sf has become.
Do yourself a favor and go to NYC. If I wasn't married to a "bay area for life" gal I would have bounced a decade ago.

Same exact thing here in Colorado. Fucking west cost niggers are making this place as expensive as the west coast. All for that weed. Fucking dirty faggots.

It's not worth it unless you can live somewhere for free/you commute via BART for an hour or two.

If I were you I would recommend just working on a CS degree and getting a real job and trying to find a place that's cheap enough... rather than going minimum wage.

Since you're a girl, you can also become an escort, but it won't be easy.

I own a 3 bedroom with a guest unit a 15 minute walk from the center of town. Purchased for $250k in the 90's. It was recently appraised for $1.2m.

As a local who is moving to Reno Nevada SF turned into a liberal elitists shithole. Unless you a fucking hustler like me who was living in the mission. But even then everything is overpriced. 3500 month for the crummy apartments. And not too mention all the Asians. The bus and Bart system smell like piss.

San Francisco is no longer a place for poor people. You'd have to live across the bay most likely. Even the shitty warehouses you could live in as a group are gone.

Maybe you could live like in hunters point.

Yes San leondro is now 50% Asian and 30% Latino. They paying ton cash too btw. Used to be local. Born and raised.

So.... you guys are gonna share a studio apartment together or what? A three bedroom home is going to rent for more money than y'all will make after taxes and no one is going to rent it to any of you.

Hunter's point is on its way out, too. They're putting in crazy expensive new apartments there, too. It's absolute madness.

That's $4,000 after taxes friendo. If none of you are sharing a room at least 80% of that is rent. Enjoy not even buying food.

I pay $700/mo for a room in SF. It can be found if you know locales who are on rent control but that requires living here and knowing people and not wanting to live with your three buddies.

just be a dirty fucking spic. they'll give you sanctuary as long as you're not white

bay area fag here. moved away because it is too expensive. dont do it, op. you wont make it.

if by "sanctuary" you mean, they won't deport you when you get arrested for living in your homeless camp because you thought you could move here and work a minimum wage job then yeah, that's about right.

Yeap, Waterbend. Like 3k for a 1 bedroom in the shit tier of shit tier SF ghetto

you will get killed in hunters point, op. its very dangerous.
