Simple to say, but what about the maintenance and operational costs? A company may be able to do such thing because their main aim is to sell and make profit. A family would have huge costs for low returns. First of all, all crops grown will be ready at the same time but in different periods, meaning that a lot of product will be standing and possibly rot together with having huge quantities of the same products and in small variety. A supermarket enables to buy many products to increase variety but still costs affordable. I don't believe in this. My family has been going for years now, nontheless we still need supermarkets for some products.

I'd be more concerned with raw cost.
That much land would be expensive as fuck.
