any cool family experiences, Sup Forums?

Had a long ass convo with my dad about Magazine once. It was cool.

My mom liked Dopethrone

my dad is the only non fag member of Husker Du

just played Towers Of Dub for my family because they wanted something to dance to and they loved it

Caught my aspie music hating brother listening to Roundabout by Yes, but I think he only likes it because of Jojo
Could believe this

This 40yo chick Im seeing is really into these guys. It's getting annoying fuck doom metal desu

I played Acid Bath for my Dad and he seemed to enjoy them.

He also likes Songs: Ohia and Nick Cave so that's a plus.

Songs: Ohia is literally dadrock though

dads love anything that remind them of black sabbath

My dad showed me Talking Heads and Blondie and New Order. Also was a big fan of Talk Talk and Oingo Boing for some reason.

My dad introduced me to Talking Heads too

Both mine and my mum's favourite artist is Bowie, s'cool

My mom used to take me to Tower Records when I was a little kid in the 90s. She was in to a lot of cool music from that era that I still like today.

I was listening to Earth 2 and my mom thought someone was using a chainsaw outside

all of those bands have had massively successful hits
did that really surprise you

My favorite story I read on Sup Forums one time was the user who said how he was distant from his dad or something, but grew close to him due to their mutual like of the Beach Boys. It all culminated into this one point where his dad felt it was time and showed the user his collection of Beach Boy bootlegs. It was a great story.

Oingo Boingo and Talk Talk had huge hits, sure, but most people who were listening to popular music at that time didn't listen to their catalogs outside the big hits. Later Talk Talk is a phenomenon on Sup Forums because there are a listeners of post-rock here, but in the outside world that is more of a connoisseur genre.

The story would be more poignant if the kid was estranged from the father and had thought poorly of him for his entire life, but then reconnects over music on a roadtrip after learning that the dad is dying of rectal cancer or something.

that sounds more like a movie though than something that would normally happen

Got my brother into all my noise rock bands. Pretty cool.

Nothing that you read in a "story" on Sup Forums actually happened.

Might as well make it cinematic if it's all made up anyway.

Something similar actually happened to someone I knew, but I don't think the beach boys or music of any kind were involved.

Some guy I knew in school had an estranged dad who he hated, and later found out his dad was dying and went to like make peace with him. Probably a pretty common story, actually.

This is a fantastic reaction image, where is it from?

My dad apparently saw Beefheart open for Jethro Tull in the 70s
He didn't like him but I still envy him for that

I was listening to Pallbearer's newest album in my room and my mom texted me to ask what it was. I teased her a bit for liking doom metal but still p cool

>inb4 underageb&, i'm just a super-super-super senior in college and can't afford rent where i live

I've considered telling my mom about Jojo because all of the musical references in the original material are exactly her tastes (she doesn't like Yes though). But I think she believes all anime/manga is essentially pornography so I probably won't bring it up.

Most of the people on Sup Forums older than 22 live with their parents anyway. I know I do.

kangoku gakuen. how have you not read this manga yet

My uncle was flatmates with Syd Barrett for a couple of months in the late 60's, had some pretty disturbing stories

My uncle works at nintendo.

i was listening to Sufjan (illinois) and my mum came in the room to say she liked it :)

i mean most people will appreciate a Sufjan song if you play them one but it was significant for me because my senpai usually dont give a shit about my interests

Kek Sufjan is shit

do you people really play music without headphones? why are you so obnoxious?
