Adulthood is when you realise Twilight is better than Harry Potter

Its actually ASeries of Unfortunate Events

This is actually very true
Even hungry games has more depth and adult sensibility

Whats the best version of the Harry Potter boxset?

The 31 disc Hogwarts Edition or the new 16 disc 2016 Edition?

Fuck anything after Goblet of Fire, everything before that was comfy as fuck.

Not even close, tumblr. it is without a doubt one of the dullest franchise in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Kek my ass off this board is honestly fucking retarded

Easily

Your ministry remains...STRONG

Even the deleted scenes are 10/10 entertainment
youtube.com/watch?v=IoCz5bHQMxo&index=1&list=PL4PfwNhVG_HreeFr-YP7RLA_4SVMY0QCw

Really enjoyed the series
I think it did some great things, especially in getting children interested in reading after seeing the films
Not going to say they're the best films ever or even the best series but i love them i could happily marathon the whole series any time

>they still won't release the brain deleted scene from OOTP
I'm seriously thinking of penning to Yates about it. HbP and Goblet had some nice deleted scenes too, the one Yule ball students fooling around in the courtyard and carraiges. I don't remember what was extendes in chamber of secrets besides justin flinn fletchy or whatever and a ghost chilling with harry as he reads, I like the theatrical cut

Compared to everything else that's been released the last fifteen years they are pretty great imho and I unironically think they have more kinos than lotr, not that that's hard lotr has 1.

Nah it was shite

>I think it did some great things, especially in getting children interested in reading after seeing the films
Fucking lol. Just because she got kids to read, doesn't mean they are truly "literate," much in the same way that just because someone's into classical music, if they're just enjoying it for the "catchy tunes," they obviously aren't truly listening to it. Harold Bloom is correct. They aren't truly reading, they're just looking at words and imagining a bad fantasy movie in their heads.

thoughts on this?

time travel[spoiler\]

Epic! upboats.
Goddamn seriously look at this board and stop being triggered by fantasy wizards.

>he doesn't understand the parallels between mockingjay 1 and classic russian cinema
Holy shit. When did this become a subchan?

only 3, 6, and 6 are good movies.

1 and 2 feel like big budget disney channel films
4 is a mess
5 is so boring omg

7>3>6>2>1>5>4>8
fucking debate me

>Sup Forums is plagued by people who enjoy 50+ superhero movies
>people act like fantasy wizardry is offensive to the enth degree
Wew

31-disc set

New 16 disc is missing Extendeds of the first two movies and some special features

>defending hunger games mockingjay 1, not only in text but picture format
Honestly the most tryhard thing I've ever seen on here please don't reply

Pretty good man

>i know what millions of people are thinking
that's the implication of what you're saying and even if what you're saying is true it doesn't matter. 100% may not be "truly literate" but there's a good chance that some went on to become very invested in reading
>tl;dr
think about the logical implications of what you're saying and get off your fucking high horse you pretentious cock

7 is the worst movie right after #2. You would have to be a complete and utter pleb that thinks things like Game of Thrones is 'good television' to think that movie is /good/

>t-t-ry hard
Holy fuck this just keeps getting worse and worse. Go read about film

Lmao get out of here, you're not on /lit/

Do you have anything better to do than derail harry potter threads? You say the same exact things ever single time kek. KEK

>mockingjay 1 is a good film
Embarassing

Thanks for the heads-up bro.

He comes to every thread its quite pathetic and complains when people like

7.1

Plebs(or pleb technically) pushing the 7.1 narrative need to know they are not welcome here or on any film related site.

This is a reminder and a safety warning for everyone: If you see someone praising number 7 (the film, not books) whilst also waifuposting about Emma Watson then you have encountered Marcus of /got/.
He is a known and confirmed "problem" poster by the mods and is also one of the "cunny" and black dick spammers.
He will praise 7 and then reply to himself claiming "wow good taste" and when confronted go on about how everyone has different taste as damage control.
His posts have been wiped multiple times in these threads.
If you think you've recognized him please do not hesitate to report him with the report button or on the feedback page.
He is of South Asian descent, from Australia and frequently shit posts porn or "cunny" if triggered.

It was a very mediocre story in a very interesting world that unfortunately remained very basic and was never fleshed out. It also tried to mature along with the audience and the tonal shift is jarring.

Now they're just milking it; Rowling can eat shit and die.

The patrician shitposting in hp threads is actually INSPIRING. Look more pasta and images..

>It's a Voldemort's daughter episode

>its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.
This is one of the major criticisms of the Harry Potter universe, but in particular the movies after Prisoner of Azkaban.
In Harry Potter, they made magic mundane and boring, unremarkable, predictable, plain. In the books, it became a plot device, it wasn't explained or explored, and Harry, who grew up a muggle, instead of being thrilled and thirsty for knowledge and devoting all of his time to learning more magic and more about magic, and thus letting us see the same from his perspective in the books, just went to school like a normal kid. The magic became convenient, Rowling added a magical element or tool here and there, but we never got into the how or why, or even into the dazzle of the magic.
The movies followed suite. While the first two especially, and the third as well made magic feel exciting and new and capital M- Magical, the following movies used repetitive effects and really plain, boring and limited action sequences to make duels and death defying stunts and infiltrations feel like something we'd seen a hundred times before in James Bond movies, but with less style in the execution in Harry Potter.
It's really quite a shame that a property with so much potential was handled so clumsily and without regard for anything beyond profit.

Again with this pasta?

Nice tastes too fampie

5 is worse than 4, this is a fact.

They learn deeper knowledge about magic in every book. The finale even rests on Harry learning about obscure wandlore. And the way Dumbledore uses magic is always impressive.

Of course I have

;(

>It's really quite a shame that a property with so much potential was handled so clumsily and without regard for anything beyond profit.
Literally Fantastic Beasts
It looks like such a bore and the whole only being greenlit in case Warners "DCCU" falls flat seems to be truer each movie they release. Fucking Eddie Redmayne of all people too

No its up to taste I think ootp is very underrated. Ive always considered it better than 4 though no question

This user for ex thinks its the best
And I like his ranking

>5 is worse than 4, this is a fact.

>newest release has less content
Why do they fucking do this shit?

the entire series wasn't actually about harry, but rather how /r9k/ himself went to hogwarts long ago, where he developed oneitis and beta orbited a girl who ended up marrying the chad who bullies him before she squeezed chad's son out. his oneitis was so bad that he couldn't de-orbit himself even when his planet ceased to exist, so he ends up dedicating his life to protecting his oneitis and chad's spawn while simultaneously resenting himself and the boy for it. this act required giving up his one other passion, the dark arts. he wasn't even allowed to dabble in it as hogwarts never really let him teach defense against the dark arts.

years later, his entire life legacy is being the middle name of bully chad's grandson, he didn't even get the first name for all he had done, that honor went to a gay faggot instead.

Why are people praising DH part 1?

All I remember is everyone being pissed off at each other all the time.

Yeah I really can't understand why Rowling agreed to the new stuff. She doesn't need the money. Why ruin a series with shit for absolutely no reason?

Why didn't Voldemort's schemes always start in September (when Hogwarts opened) and always end in June (when Hogwarts closed)? Why didnt' this dumbass just do most of his plotting the summer when everyone was away?

It's comfy

Maybe just maybe you should rewatch it if you dont remember. Just a crazy thought.

Personally the atmosphere is one of the best in the series to me

nu-Sup Forums loves its telenovelas

Emma is waifu for laifu.

can you at least read a book before you post that ridiculous image

It's mostly one guy. See he does it all the time and I don't think he realizes you can see the poster counter if you're browsing from your computer.

DH part 2 is balls to the walls action, with a rushed climax

It hurtles toward the end with no time to breathe

DH Part 1 is almost a character study in comparison. The Harry/Hermione alone section is top-tier comfy time

Absolutely not.
It made magic boring and mundane. It didn't take full advantage of its cast or its giant budget.
It was a poor adaptation of a series of children's books that tried to make it seem grittier and more mature than the books were.
Those things being said, there were definitely good things about the series, and overall I'd even say it was pretty good, but because of the above reasons there's really no way to convince somebody who's trying to examine the movies fairly that it's the best series of all time.

>I hate chamber secrets and deathly hallows part 1
>so I'm going to proclaim myself
>but like things like mockingjay part 1 avatar and pacific rim
Pretentious and sad. We get it you don't like them

Why didn't he just use ancestry.com to find out who Harry's relatives were then look each of them up in the Phone book for the address.

Literally autism. This guy actually Actually thinks one person likes a film and has shitposted in countless threads about it

Exactly

>Yeah I really can't understand why Rowling agreed to the new stuff.
Because she's an egomaniac who manipulates her fans and her fame.

>She doesn't need the money
She may not, but in her head(and many "rich people" you actually do. Most people with her type of wealth are looking to secure the future of their line and just being rich for your own lifetime isn't enough for a lot of them.

>Why ruin a series with shit for absolutely no reason?
It goes back to above. She jewed out her franchise and stumbled into what I call the Pet Rock effect (I'm sure there is a more official and proper name). Essentially it is a product that gathers a following so large that it will not and can not ever fail, regardless of the quality of the product. Harry Potter isn't a literary masterpiece by any means. It's a mediocre to passable written series that has been overrated to absurd points. Same as Twilight, except Twilight is marketed specifically to teenage girls. That demographic (10-18) has been historically incredibly hard to crack, but when you can manage to crack it, you will stumble into obscene amounts of money.

I'm not that faggot.

googled katherine waterson nude on google images

>nice

>not just watching inherent vice where she makes joaquin phoenix since her bare butthole
mate

Adulthood is when you don't act like a retard on a Assyrian carpet weaving board for the sake of getting (you)s

I genuinely believe it though

That's hardly our fault.

This board is at an all time low. I believe you believe it

>inherent vice
looks like a nice movie

Its pretty shit but if you like PTA have fun

It's downright mongoloid retarded. You'd think the most recent release would provide some kind of incentive for people to double (perhaps triple) dip. But no.

...

>it was pretty good

It was an incredible achievement.
>8 movies in a row all with excellent box office reception
>world wide acclaim
>loved by adult and child alike
>introduced Emma Watson to the world
>banned in some countries for being satanic
>has a cult following already

The fact that they fiomed seven back to back is impressive alone look at the schedule

2000 - filming PS
2001 - press for PS filming CoS
2002 - press for Cos
2003 - filming PoA
2004 - press for PoA filming GoF
2005 - press for GoF
2006 - filming OOTP
2007 -press for OOTP
2008 -filming HBP
2009 - press for HBP filming DH1

Having 8 movies all featuring the same cast (pretty much) is pretty special - and it's even more unique that we see these children grow into adults over the course of the saga.

The fact that all of the movies are fairly enjoyable is the icing on the cake.

Pretty heroic effort from the editing staff.

Have you actually read the books without your social media hate meme? They are very well written and on par with stuff like Wuthering Heights and Spring Snow

Boyhood did it much better and in a more artistic way. And not only that it was made for art not profit :^)

>very well written
I take it you don't grasp the concept of a comma or hyphen.

I thought boyhood was hot garbage

Richard Francis-Bruce (1)
Peter Honess (2)
Steven Weisberg (3)
Mick Audsley (4)
Mark Day (5–8)

definitely. I actually like mark days work

>things can't be both because I say so
>only directors and cinematographers I like make art
:'^)

I've posted it before, and I'll post it again.

4>1>2>5>3>6>7>8

>4>

Boyhood wasn’t an 8 movie saga dude.

>invites you to return to the wizarding world
the world was fucking garbage it was the school and hermione's teen pussy everyone wanted to see

7/8 should be even lower. they're nothing but expensive powerpoint presentations.

3>5>7>6>2>1>4

Yet it still manages to be better.

7/8 are so completely different that your post is cringe. Goblet of fire is also about one thousand times worse than them.

youre talking to someone who thinks hes better than everyone else

OPINIONS. Its not better
