I always hated prog because I thought it was too self indulgent. But then one of my band mates turned me onto the Mars Volta's first album. The rest of their discography does nothing for me though. Where do I go from here? I like ITCotCK sans Moonchild and Fragile and Close to the Edge by Yes as well if that helps any.

Zeuhl is prog.
>I like ITCotCK sans Moonchild
Uh-oh.

Also go for Caravan - In the Land of Grey and Pink and Jethro Tull - Songs from the Wood if you want (mostly) simple prog.

I also like Ege Bamyasi and Future Days more than Tago Mago :x

In my short-lived journey into progressive rock, I'll have to go with Camel's Stationary Traveller. I posted a thread earlier, which has gone unheeded, asking for jazzy, avant-garde, prog rock like (Dave) Greenslade. Any recommendations that're worth checking out?

Of course Close To the Edge, out of all the prog albums I've heard this seems to be the most refined.

Also give Sweet Smoke- Just a Poke a try, it's great.

Im going to post this every thread until you like it

General consensus on TooL?

This is good thanks
