Has anyone here been able to lose shit loads of weight? How to?

Has anyone here been able to lose shit loads of weight? How to?
Inb4 diet and exercise, I get that. But what kinds of exercise; how much a week? And what kinds of meals?
Help a fatty out.

Burn more calories than you eat

Cardio, brah. Keep your heart rate around 142-150. Sweat like a mad man. Eat chicken (not fried) and drink loads of water.

I've lost some 25kg or so. Google keto diet.

Sounds legit, thanks dude.

Did you exercise regularly aswell?

Stop closing your eyes to facts, it's extremely simple to understand how weight gain and loss works, the information is out there for everyone to see. There are no secret tips and hints, you can't put in iddqd, meals you should eat to lose weight should consist of mainly vegetables, meat is totally acceptable, but make sure you don't cheat, don't eat too much of the stuff you like, use your brain, don't block your common sense out. Either you want to lose weight or not, so you can be good, or cheat.

Well ofc...

So how often a week? I just wanna know if it's worth while to get a gym membership or just do running/general exercises I don't need equipment for.

read the sticky in /fit/, dont forget cheat days

/fit/ is as full of trolls as Sup Forums is. Go to your local gym and ask them for help. That's part of their fucking businessmodel, so be honest with them.
You'll see that some human interaction is actually not the way Sup Forums thinks it is

running sucks btw and is a huge turnoff for people looking to lose weight/get fit.
buy more fresh food/simply don't buy lots of packaged foods (cuts calories without needing to overthink it)
the rest you'll figure out

Use more energy than you consume, simple.

For cardio you do not need a gym membership. You can jog outside and there are loads of exercises you can do outside or indoors. The key is to just keep moving.

Rule of thumb is 1 minute sets with a 15 second rest in between. Your body doesn't know numbers, only time over stress. In other words, its not how many of something you do, its how long you do it.

Also squats... lots and lots of squats. Apart from your back, your legs are one of the largest muscle groups in your body. Get those strong and most exercises will become easier. Also makes your butt look good.

Also, as everyone else said, diet is more important than exercise. You can run all you want, but if you eat like shit you'll always feel like shit.

I've lost about 25 kilo's over the past year or so. No diet. I just stopped eating like a retard. I would skip breakfast (still do mostly, tho) and lunch and then eat something stupid at night like microwave pizza. My body would go into starve-mode and just store everything. I also drove fucking everywhere.

Living in a town with good public transportation I ditched my car when I moved into a new flat a year ago. I started eating lunch and most days I take a 15-20 minute walk during my lunch break. When I get home I whip up something simple. Usually a salad with anything from tuna to ham, cheese and a boiled egg. It's fast and easy as fuck.

That's it. No gyms, no diets, no schedules. Just live like a human fucking being instead of a mentally challenged pig. So far I've lost about 25 kilos but I'm still dropping. I'm aiming for another 15-20 kilos.

Not the same guy, but do sit ups literaly every day. Try to reach an average of 25 and then one day of the week shoot for double that. Any time you improve your average, do double that only on one day of the week. You will develop muscles in your stomach which will burn fat. Next you want to work your arms. I recommend 25-35 pound weights since they are relatively cheap and effective. Eat more veggies and completely drop processed meat. Don't eat too many greens because they can fuck up your stomach if you aren't used to them. Slowly work your way up to healthier foods. Never give into temptation. This can be improved by just not buying any junk food except for one item once a month.

Now back onto exercise. Do as many squats as you can until you feel a semi intense burning at least once a week. This is also known as leg day (don't skip it since it is very vital to losing weight)
Next i would recommend doing pushups. Just do as many as you can twice a week until you can do them like that every day that you aren't in recovery. Also NEVER work out on recovery days from maxing on weights (3-4 days) Build cardio by using an exercise bike if you don't want to go outside.
Or just run in place, but this looks retarded to anyone around you.

I've lost 100 pounds.

I started off fixing my crappy eating habits. A huge part of that was cooking meals at home rather than eating out.

As far as exercise, I lift 3 days a week and run on an elliptical 3 days a week.

It all comes down to food > everything else you're doing. Eat less food. Eat food with less calories.

"You can't outrun a bad diet" - this quote is famous for a reason. You can get on the stairmaster at the gym and ball out at 20 for 10 min and still only burn like 300 calories.

Everything you drink, should be water.
Everything you eat should be made by yourself. Don't buy fast food, not only talking about burger or pizza, but food that only needs to be heated. If you want meat, cook it yourself. Don't use sauce of any kind.

This is pretty much what I did. Eat as little as you can, without starving. Eat 5-6 times a day.

If you don't like cadio, as I don't. Lift heavy. I used 5x5 stronglift (you can google it, and get an app for it). Other than that it's just rutine and don't eat shit again.

Enter your stats here and calculate how many calories per day you use:

iifym.com/tdee-calculator/

Eat 500 less calories than this everyday.

Go to the gym and lift weights, full body routine 3 times a day (try AllPro's beginner weight lifting - easy as shit only 7 exercises).

You will lose weight and put on some muscle at the same time. Done.

Run slow and far each day - eat lots of tuna, chicken and Greek yogurt

I agree with all you're saying except the starving part.

I lost a fuck ton doing intermittent fasting.

i lost over 30 lbs drinking rum and diet cola all day and just keeping calories under 800. i ate hot pockets mostly. it takes weeks of no change and then it's crazy and the lbs fly off.

youtube.com/watch?v=XF2ayWcJfxo

I found that they key was routine.

First thing's first. Go out today. Go for a walk around the block. 1 mile, 2 miles, it doesn't matter, but go out today. That is the single step.

I started walking. I'd walk to the nearest store for a paper, or milk or bread. Then I'd take a longer route, like an extra 5 or 10 minutes.

Once I had regular walking in my life, I'd go for walks. Couple miles. It's easy (for me) how your mind accepts walking for a few hours.

Once I was at the stage where I was walking for an hour or two, I took up running. First time I ran, I ran for 10 minutes and I was fucked. But I skipped a day and did it again the day after.

Once I felt like I could run a bit further, I'd run to the next junction before turning to run home. Then the next, and so on. Adding about 5 minutes every week or 2.

The whole thing took about a year, but I'm at the stage now where I run 5 miles 3 (sometimes 4) times a week.

OK, I'm never gonna run a marathon, or fucking ½ marathon for that matter, but I'm the fittest I've ever been in my life.

But go for a walk today!

throw up

seriously i dont get why more people doesn't do this.

having a larger risk of heartburn is much better than being a fat ass that cant socialize and will die young

source: myself, id be fat otherwise

AIDS

if Youre fat already just do as much cardio as you can schedule in. it will suck for the first couple days but your body will get used it. it chicken and vegetables, portion control is important but you can still lose a fuckload of weight while eating till Youre full as long as Youre not taking in a lot of sugar. You'll hear a lot about calories and carbs but fuck that FDA lobbyist bullshit I went from being fat shaped to being swimmer shaped by just cutting out sugar. I realised it when I lost 34 lbs in a month by just not drinking soda, and a further 65 the next month by going down to just meat and veggies. another 15 by switching to chicken and just drinking water (which is delicious once your palate isn't fucked from hyperdense junkfood)

hey guys check this out:
i.4cdn.org/f/Cheese Factory Willie.swf

The point is, starving doesn't really help you as much as eating low cabrs. Because no food = slower matabolism, if you however keep eating a little you keeps your body burning energy. Starving might help you in the short run, but in the long run 10kg and above I would get you lose more than you gain by starving.

2000 kcals a day NOT MORE
not that hard

>Nope

Went from 237 to 163lbs.
Sep 29th 2012 to Apr 3rd 2013 (Dec 21st to Jan 15th was a piece of shit). And occasional heavy drinking maybe once every 1.5 weeks.

I would eat 2 meals a day. 12PM and 6PM. Mostly Brazilian rice and beans, salad, and whatever meat I wanted.

I ran 5 times a week, usually around 6:30PM. Slept around 11PM. Woke up 7:30AM.

Huge for me, Mio water. Flavored water was the shit, cut me out of soda/energy drink addiction.

Averaged 4-6 lbs lost per week. Downloaded an app, 10K Runner 0K to 10K. Followed that shit.

I didn't lift. I listened to shit music when running, turned off brain, and ate less. First 2 weeks, was weird going to sleep hungry. Got used to it.

OP, just head over to /fit/, those faggots will help

but its even on Sup Forums's server

>didn't shit for 2 weeks
>get scared of pain, stop trying
>by week 4, no appetite and too scared to eat more than 1 ramen every 3 days.. If I perforate, likely dead
>pain and shitting myself every hour with overflow diarrhea sucks after week 6
>but keep it in for 92 days
>after it all comes out in a blood soaked mess, Get on scale
>Also go through opiate withdrawal since massive amounts were keeping it in
>now masively dehydrated from puke too
>but it's scale time
>lost 84lbs in 92 days

I'm gonna make a fortune with this diet plan.

You're a fucked up individual. Throwing up just discards the nutrients before they're processed. Once you stop doing this you will gain weight rapidly. Did you tune out during health class or something pal?

shut up fatass

>fuck cardio
>fuck eating nothing
>start really light with all you do
>cut down carbs, try what goes well, and what doesnt for you
>eventually start doing some kind of exercise, doenst really matter what kind, just move in any way
>eat more fat, less and less sugar
>appetite will disappear, hunger will come far later on
>drink water in case of emergency
>lose weight but stay on it
>profit

thank me later fag

You don't need to do sit ups every day or even exercise to loose fat technically... Most of your calories (~80%) is spent on keeping your body 98.6 degrees ALL the friggin time... Just eat less for a while... Keep eating protein (at least 80g/day or so) so you don't do any serious damage to organs or muscle, moderate exercise (walking, some resistance exercises) so you don't loose too much muscle (ESPECIALLY important if your a guy...being REALLY skinny is not as attractive as being fat in this culture believe it or not...) but yeah energy in, energy out...all what FAT loss really boils down to in the end...notice I said FAT and not WEIGHT...if you cut carbs you will loose glycogen (water weight) so for a month/two months you will have accelerated WEIGHT loss (fat will be going down the same as if you had the same calories, but ate carbs) but after it will slow WAY down...down to how fast the FAT is REALLY going down...you would loose glycogen fast by running too (I remember my friend said he lost 8lbs after a 20mi run...gained most of it back within a week obviously...because it was mostly water weight) fat looses kinda slow (1-2lbs week...1lb of fat is 3500cal do the math to see how much per day that would be...) I've lost 106lbs myself in a little over a year, my scale said I was loosing a half a lb of fat a day but I wasn't exercising or recording my progress... I ended up loosing like 20+lbs of muscle (why at least SOME exercise is nessisary...any more exercise is for the calories....not much calories either, I know the tredmill at the gym says you burned 100 cals in like 20 mins of walking or something...but that's counting in your metabolism too...seriously...look it up the ACTUAL amount of calories you burn during exercise is pretty depressing/unmotivating...look it up)

OP here, thanks everyone for your advice. Helps a lot (except throwing up because nah).
Seems like gym isn't necessary until I atleast get into a routine.

it isnt actually.
i lift weights for about 1-1,5hrs and burn 1000-1500kcal.
but you cant do that if you arent fit. so stay by thing things i wrote above and you will get there. it is easier than it seams.
Protip: have something to do all the time, keep yourself distracted if you want to eat shit.

>Flavored water was the shit, cut me out of soda/energy drink addiction

Will try this protip. Thanks user.

If you can afford it and your weight allows it, get a trampoline. Moves all muscles in your body. It can be fucking tiring but it's a good fat burn.

Im in the same boat. anyone know if having salad with sauce defeats the purpose? sad but genuine question...

I'm a lazy fuck so did it with no exercise but lost 52lb in 4 months eating a high fat low carb diet, you can literally eat as much as you want as long as you keep under 20g of carbs a day the fat just drops off, search for ketogenic diet

I'm starting a VLCD this week and I am interested to find out if anyone here has tried one before/how it went etc.

I've started exercising and eating better over the past few months and so far I've dropped 20kg, so now I cant reason with myself that I "can't do it" or it's going to take "forever", and that's great, because I am tired of being a fat slob.

does it actually work? or is healthy eating just as affective

Read this

Good luck man, I wish I could get into diets like that. I just love food too much, not necessarily shitty food but any food nonetheless

If you're very fat you can lose a fuckton of weight quickly and easily simply by reducing your calorie intake to around 1500 a day.
I lose nearly 50lbs by doing only that; no exercise at all, just going to work as normal...then i decided being less fat wasn't making me any less miserable so gave it up and now i don't care.

But the point still stands. Don't bother with 'no carbs' or 'no fats' or any of that shit, just 1500 calories of WHATEVER you want, chocolate, twinkies, beer, anything. Just don't go over and you'll lose weight regardless of how much you exercise (that is assuming you don't just spend the entire day in bed).

Nah, main reason I'm wanting to lose weight is just because I physically feel unhealthy compared to how I felt a few years ago. Out of breath, weak ect. I don't feel miserable or like it's affecting my social life, just wanna feel healthier.

But yeah, I'm pretty damn fat. So I'm gonna try to lower my intake. See if it changes much.

Losing weight is all about calories and portion control.

If you're fat, you're eating too much. End of story.

NEVER drink your calories. The only things you're allowed to drink are water, and unsweetened tea.

Never eat pre-packaged food or instant meals. Cook REAL food and practice portion control. Get yourself a kitchen scale if you need to.

Once you have the food thing under control then get the exercise thing going. Minimum of one hour every day.

>Once you stop doing this
been doing it for 7 years now, there's no reason not to

meanwhile ive had 7 years to slowly reduce how much i eat. eventually ill have no reason to continue throwing up and i wont gain weight rapidly because i'll be eating normally

i stand by that throwing up is smart compared to being a fat ass with heart problems. of course the ability to throw up varies from person to person, personally i have it easy since i can trigger puking by will alone (no need for fingers in my throat or anything like that)

this is a definition of a diet you fucking moron.

let me be clear, healty eating and excercise is always better. but throwing up is better than being a fat ass.

i always recommend those that dont have enough will power to eat less and go outside for walks to just throw up.

I've lost 94kg in the last 16 months.

All you have to do is eat less. but still actually eat.. educate yourself faggot

>needing a cheat day
If your self control is so fucked up you cant go a fucking week without "cheating" you're never going to make it.

I have never in 11 years broke my diet once. I haven't had soda or sugared drinks in 11 years. I havent broken my macros in 11 years, I havent had a piece of cake in 11 fucking years.

There's the people who see past the momentary pleasure of "cheating" and see the real pleasure of having a hard healthy body, and then there's fatasses.

If you want to be semantic about it, sure. I was talking about shit like nutritional powder and regimens like 5-2. But yeah, simply eating normally is also a diet. You're right. Have a cookie.

You have no idea how the human body works do you?
Even if you go back to eating normal amounts, the fat will stick to you like glue because you havn't worked out. Stop trying to act like you have the master plan. You're actually so clueless that it hurts to read the garbage that you're spewing out.

you probably dont like soda or cake. otherwise youre taking things too far, life is short and nice food is one of the things that makes it worth living.

maybe you should get off your high horse and suck its dick? you don't know shit about people that have low will power and you don't care one god damn bit. take a walk.

Former obese fag here.
Calculate your TDEE using an online calculator. Subtract 500-1000 calories. Eat that much a day. Recalculate every 10 lbs.

When you've reached goal weight. Eat your TDEE.

Lost 130 pounds in a year by changing my diet from breads and potatoes to rice. Also i got 3 different stomach parasites in thailand.

The perfect diet plan

Starve mode is a myth dumfag.

Cal In < Cal Out = weight loss.

The laws of conservation of energy aren't broken by your busy schedule.

>you probably dont like soda or cake
I weighed 250lbs before my diet change. Trust me, i love soda and cake.

To me its simple. Would I rather spend 250 calories (1/10th) of my daily calorie needs on a nutritionless soda, or a delicious nutritious salad which provides shitloads of micronutrients.

Lmfao, i know plenty about having low will power. I was a fat fuck up until the end of high school. Stop putting yourself down further into your grave and get out of your hole of endless pointless emotions. It's only so hard because you think its that hard. I pushed myself whenever i got too fat and i have not regretted it. Of course you could sit back and continue to be a weak faggot who lashes out at people who tells you are wrong if you want to, that's your right. Just likes it my right to tell you that you're a weak faggot for doing so.

Pretty much this. Once i dropped sodas a few months ago, i wen't from 220 to 185 within 2 and a half months. Sodas are shitty for your body no matter what you think.

U ever watch naked and afraid? They barely eat and lose 20 percent of their body weight in 21 days. Thats how u lose weight u delusional fat fuck

See a GP (general practitioner). They are experts and can help, or can refer you to a more specialised doctor to help.

They may refer you to a psychologist; a bariatric surgeon (surgeon who chiefly performs weight-loss surgery); a dietitian or a nutritionist (NB: these are quite different); or, someone else; or, may not refer you at all.

Obesity is a medical condition. If you had a broken arm, you'd see a doctor, wouldn't you? It's the same with obesity.

I was ~ 230 pounds at beginning of December. I read a book called "wheat belly" and then printed out an article called "Wheat Belly Quick and Dirty" (google it). I stuck only to the category "unlimited" for the first 3 months.

I'm now hovering at 198 pounds and have reached plateau there. I've done this without changing my exercise routine at all and frankly, never lost weight with exercise. It's all about diet.

Basically, don't eat anything made from grain or potatoes and look at every meal thinking about what converts to sugar thereby causing your body to produce insulin - avoid those foods at all costs.

1. Don't fucking eat so much. You can go a day without stuffing your fat face. You won't starve.

2. Move around. Walk, run, lift weights-- whatever you can do

3. Stick to it. Don't slack off

After a whole year you can only run 5 miles. Your are a faggot of the highest order. After a year you should be able to do a half marathon.

Go to a doctor, i went from 100 kilos to 70 kilos in 2 months

If you're really big, be careful for your knees and hip bones. Too much pressure can ruin your knees. If you're really big start with swimming or something similar that doesn't put too much pressure on your joints until you lose some weight.

Stay away from Juice and sugary drinks. Drink ONLY WATER.

Lost 100lbs in 9 months by eating hard boiled eggs and instant breakfasts.

And then they gain it right back when they go back to their old eating habits having acquired no knowledge of the right foods to eat or the principles behind why "bad" foods are bad.

Lost 50 and have kept it off

Low carb dieting - less than 50 net carbs a day....you dont need to be hungry at all, just plan to lose weight at a modest clip - like 1/2 pound per week. Its so easy compared to other dieting I have done, but it can be expensive to eat almost entirely meat cheese and vegetables

Exercise - ANYTHING you can do and stick with. This is highly individual/personal. For me, I started with 10 minutes on the elliptical and slowly build my way up. Now jogging 4 miles 2x per week and weight lifting 3x per week. If I had to start over, i would start with weightlifting earlier. Its important to get in shape with cardio, yes, as you will have more energy and therefore higher metabolism, but saving your muscle while you lose weight is prolly more important.

The biggest part of this whole thing is mental tho. You gotta commit to losing weight, looking good, feeling better. And this requires real change in your habits and lifestyle. Crash dieting doesnt work. You need to change how you view food and eating You need to examine why you are overeating when you do. For me, it is often a stress response and once I recognize that, its a lot easier to put down the food and do something else to deal with that stress. And be patient, this is not something you can fix in just a couple weeks or even months, it takes years to truly change your lifestyle.

Aren't instant breakfasts loaded with sugar? Didn't you crash a few hours after eating those?

I worked out for 1year, and I lost 80kg. Ask me anything

Well then I stand corrected. You can also have a cookie.

That sounds horribly unhealthy. how much excess skin do you have?

diet? what's your go to exercise?

google "nerd fitness". Also read "wheat belly".

Track everything to stay motivated. Become a person that doesn't eat things made from grain. Don't eat things with sugar. Limit fruits. It's not a diet, it's a lifestyle. And you'll find the foods you are allowed to eat unlimited quantities of are pretty awesome (meats, cheeses, oil, vegetables, etc). You'll lose a lot of weight and keep it off.

You'll acquire a much better understanding of how food works and what it does to your body - better than 99% of the gordos out there.

But diet and exercise is the answer, any type, but the key is consistency.

not OP but what can I do to lose heaps of weight fast ? Does not eating at all work and then just having a can of tuna when you're feeling weak do the job? throwing up? anything. Give me tips idc if it's unhealthy

did you change your diet?

I lost 115 pounds in just under a year. A lot of these diets are bullshit. Really just decide for yourself that you want to lose weight and start living that lifestyle.

Really all I did was just drink water, Stop eating cheese and bread, and go for a short run every day. (Like 1 mile)

Add mayo or olive oil to that tuna and eat high fiber veggies too and you should be alright. In fact, you probably can eat as much as you want if you just stick to those things. You'll lose a ton of weight.

I exercise 6times a week. Mostly hardcore lifting. I started my adventure with a intake of 2000kcals.
Now I am at 3.5-3.7k kcals.

There are some skin at the belly.

Don't eat as much as you want. Portion your food so that your stomach gets smaller and you crave less.

Eliminating Bread is what did it for you. Cheese is fine as long as it isn't that fake shit like velveeta.

don't get a gym membership, not worth, especially if you're beginner. Do this:
Eat around 2000kcal (assuming you're seriously overweight, this is still a large cal-deficit) or just google cal-calculator and decrease the number by 250-500, depending on how well you feel. Start clean eating: avocado, salmon, chicken, sweet potato, brown rice, etc. avoid processed food.
work out 3-5 times a week, depending on your energy level.
Run 30 minutes. If you cant run, walk fast, jog for a minute, walk for a minute. Repeat 15 times. If you notice progress, increase time you jog.
If you want to do more exercises: do push-ups. If you can't do normal ones, start on your knees. Do as many as you can, rest 30 seconds, repeat.
This is enough to start with.

Don't lose more than 1-2 pounds per week, everything else is unhealthy. 1pound a week is fine, slow but steady progress, helps you maintain the weight instead of yoyo-it-back. If interested, have a look at intermittent fasting.

Enjoy!

Lost the same amount in about 15 months. There was no diet, just more veg, less carbs (but not cut out entirely), cutting out chocolate, sugary or fatty snacks and cardio 3 times a week.

First, you have to look for your rutine: What I'm doing wrong? Why I start eating shit? In my case, It was because I had shit tons of free time, so when I was bored I started to eat. I gain a lot of weight because I used to eat cookies and shit between meals, a lot of bread and I didn't exercise myself.

Short story, I lost 10 kg in two months by just stopping eating shit every day and doing jogging/cardio like 30 minutes per day, 4 or 5 times per week. And shit tons of water

I was thinking, how can I get the most volume of food for 2k kcals.. so it was much clean food and Alot of vegetables. Like 500-700g per meal

Can confirm. Im the guy that lost 115 pounds. here Once you lose that amount of weight all it wants to do is get right back onto you. After you've lost the weight, you need to maintain that lifestyle and not start eating shit like pizza and soda again. You'll gain it all back as fast as you lost it.

I kind of think that's bullshit. Why? Insulin makes you fat. If you eat foods that cause your body to make a bunch of insulin, you will get fat.

When your body goes into ketosis, you will burn fat. You can reach this state through exercise, starvation - or simply avoiding foods that cause excess insulin production. For the latter, you can eat unlimited quantities of high fiber/high fat/high protein foods. They won't make you fat and you will stay in ketosis without feeling hungry or starved.

Went from 330lbs to 220lbs with a diet of beer, ramen noodles, and sex.

Also did jumping jacks, pushups, and sit ups 5 days a week for 30 min.

Depends on the ingredients, if packed full of sugar then yes.
Remember Joules in less than Joules out.

On Oct 27 2016 I weighed 235 pounds. Today I weigh about 190, this is what I did.

1. Cut out fast food
2. Cut out alcohol on a regular basis
3. Cut back to one 20oz bottle of soda a day
4. Started a food log to keep track of my calorie intake.l
5. Bought a fitbit to keep track of my step counts for the day to better see how many calories I was burning
6. When I figured out how many calories I was burning a day, roughly, I started eating roughly 500cal less a day than I was burning
7. Worked out for about a half hour a day Mon to Fri, and the occasional Sat

If you stay honest, keep yourself disciplined you WILL lose weight.
