It allows them to focus on something other than the music. Normies don't really enjoy music.

Because they're not musicians, so instrumental music doesn't interest them.

To sing along with our friends.

Ambient isn't real music

It gives them something to cling on to and then repeat in their social groups, without lyrics they would actually have to focus on the instrumentation and the layers of it

Except music with vocals has a larger opportunity to be better than without

>implying ambient music is the only type of music without vocals

Neck yourself

Not true. That's like saying music with piano has potential to be better than music without piano. It's just another instrument which could be used well or used poorly.

because they need music to relate to their lives in order to enjoy it

>It's just another instrument
Not really. The human voice is an instrument, but lyrics and melody is an element of song composition.

Nice try though

get a load of this retarded normie lol

>melody
Instruments can accomplish melody
>lyrics
Instruments can sing too. Bet that really made you think. Nice try child!

>>lyrics
>Instruments can sing too.
Example pls?

Kant explains why music with lyrics is better:

From Critique of Aesthetic Judgment: "Even the presentation of the sublime, so far as it belongs to fine art, may be brought into union with beauty in a tragedy in verse, a didactic poem or an oratorio, and in this combination fine art is even more artistic. Whether it is also more beautiful (having regard to the multiplicity of different kinds of delight which cross one another) may in some of these instances be doubted. Still in all fine art the essential element consists in the form which is final for observation and for estimating. Here the pleasure is at the same time culture, and disposes the soul to ideas, making it thus susceptible of such pleasure and entertainment in greater abundance. The matter of sensation (charm or emotion) is not essential. Here the aim is merely enjoyment, which leaves nothing behind it in the idea, and renders the soul dull, the object in the course of time distasteful, and the mind dissatisfied with itself and ill-humoured, owing to a consciousness that in the judgement of reason its disposition is perverse."

That feel when listening to classical music or instrumental hip hop

The melody is the most accessible part of music.

The human voice is overwhelmingly used to provide the melody (in fact, in many traditions it is always part of the melody).

Verbal language, whether spoken or sung, is much easier for the average person to comprehend the meaning, compared to the musical language of progression, counterpoint, etc.

And, as a rule, the vast majority of humans have the ability to vocalize, which means that music with melodic vocals and comprehensible lyrics is extremely interactive for a typical audience.

It's ultimately just easier than mentally "singing along" with instruments.

...

Why do you need lyrics in order to relate to music on an emotional level.

There are some classical and orchestral pieces that are so romantic or heroic that i love. Or that have like this bitter sweet sadness.

>Instruments can sing too
But they can't play actual lyrics you literal fucktard

Because the lyrics allow a far clearer transmission of meaning through language, while non-lyrical music is much more difficult to interpret comparatively.

I'm not saying it's better or worse, just psychologically easier to digest. Which is why it is more popular.

lmao fucking nerds keep masturbating on blip blop sounds, the voice is still the best instrument ever (see Axl Rose, if you're heard of him of course).

yeah, if you are retard who needs everything explained to you

Newsflash faggot: most of the world are mongs.

You're not special here for being able to figure out music.

>implying vocals are only used in normie music

If you're not a troll, and I'm pretty sure are, you are the dumbest person on this board now, bar none.

thats not at all what im implying

why do you need characters in your movies

How about most jazz

>how to spot a psuedo

damn dude BTFO

they don't like music, they like being told what to think, feel and do, which top 40 pop lyrics usually provide for them

It also has the potential to be a lot worse than instrumental music

The better analogy would be why do you need dialogue

Why are you su unique and special? You are so cool.

>the voice is still the best instrument ever
Agreed.
>(see Axl Rose, if you're heard of him of course)
REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE

No it absolutely doesn't.

Say you complete a 10/10 instrumental and you decide to add vocals. There is literally any chance at all for the vocals to diminish the quality of what was already put into place. Sure it can help it, but it also can harm it.

NOPE
its actually the piano

>tfw now I have to like vocals because people who hate vocals use the word normie and I don't want to be associated with /r9k/
JUST

>muh categorical imperative

Lyrics sung by a human voice cause the song to register in a different and more prominent part of the brain. We're social animals, after all.
