I would love to take over Rickenbacker. I'd release far-eastern made budget versions of the 4003 bass and flood the market with them. Then stop making guitars entirely and just make basses but with proper electronics, truss rods that work like Fender truss rods, pickups strong enough to actually drive a fucking amp, fretwire that doesn't rub off the first time you fret a note and a host of other improvements.

I got relegated to bass because I owned a bass setup for my home recordings and when my band found that out the drummer recruited his best friend who acts like Billie Joe Armstrong and the Frontman for Sum 41 but doesn't commit because he gets "stage anxiety" and refers to notes as "1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th frets." Whenever we improvise jam he just plays the open E chord on his freeze pedal as he checks his phone. Thing with active preamps is, if you've got a noisy signal going into the preamp then it'll quite happily amplify that noise into a louder noise.
Shield all the cavities, connect all the shielding tape to the ground of the jack. Because if you don't ground the tape then you might as well not bother shielding the guitar.
