However, Spain is not an amalgamate. It is a nation-state of Spanish people. During times of Franco, Regional nationalism was actively supressed. Spanish was taken to mean Castillian. Up to this day, there is a huge group of Catalans that wish for secession from Spanish state, and don't even get me started on ETA and shit. By your terms, PKK is a turkish terrorist group.
The difference is that Poland is 99% ethnically homogenous. Before the war there was significant Ukrainian minority (majority in eastern parts of the country) and trust me, they did not consider themselves to be Polish by the looks of their actions in 1943.
I don't deny Spanish claims to these territories, but it's clear that Catalonia and Basque country form the majority of Spanish NT. It is like Poland had 11 Miroslav Klose's and Podolski'es in our team.
