When doing the countries of the world, it is often a good idea to break things down into groups of 2,3 or 5.

I begin with the 193 UN member states (the jetpunk quiz includes three of the following four: Kosovo, Palestine, Vatican, Taiwan. The sporcle quiz has all four of these in addition to the above 193).

I break this "193" number down like so:

Americas 35
Africa 54 (includes 6 island nations associated with Africa)
Oceania 14 (includes Australia and New Zealand, etc. does not include Indonesia or anything northwest of it, practically speaking)

This leaves exactly 90 left over, which are pretty much Europe and Asia. I've never bothered to parse them at this level, but it's pretty-much a 45-45 split, +- 1-2.

Personally I break Oceania down something like this:

Big obvious land-masses: Australia, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea
Longer names: Micronesia, Marshall Islands, Solomon Islands

Then 4 "pairs" of similar-sounding-things:

Palau/Nauru
Tuvalu/Vanuatu
Tonga/Samoa
Kiribati/Fiji

This tactic can be used on the whole world.
