Not wanting to be hated is rather normal. It can be good if done in moderation. In the one hand it mean you have self respect. If you start going out of your way to make people like you though...thats bad.
Overall we will never be able to please everybody at all times. They may not like you but they also may not feel so strongly against you as you think. For what it is worth I don't hate you.
