Cudi's first album is terrible too, I remember MOTM II being good, but it's been a long time.

i do agree MOTM II is best of the four but some of the parts of it are so childish, also it came out when i was a freshman in hs so maybe i got a bit of rose tint on it.

there arent many good sad hip hop albums really, that arent meme rap

I listened to it in middle school so it's like that for me too.
Cudi isn't that great of a lyricist, but I think it's the instrumentation I loved so much.

I assume you're alluding to Lil Uzi Vert, Suicide Boys, and that white guy that makes fake Memphis rap, what's his name? Lil Ugly Mane.

I want to express my emotions through hip-hop, but I have a really hard time with it, lyrically.
I'm just not good at lyrics and I'm too embarrassed to write honestly.

hes a terrible lyricist actually, Cage and Chips verses are probably the best on the album, but conceptually its a great album and i agree the production is great, albeit it drags a little

i actually produce and i have all these boom bap beats and id love to rap over it but also i dont have the voice for it, and i agree its very difficult to not sound like a try hard or corny

If it makes you feel better, I hate my voice too. I'm from Brooklyn and I don't have an accent, but often when I rap it's like some Nas/Busta Rhymes gruffness comes out. I need to learn how to produce, I just don't know how to go about it, programs cost way more money than I expected and I'm very intimidated by the whole thing.

I gotta ask, are you white?

heh yea im white, im from Trenton NJ actually, i spend alot of time in the city tho, im at A1 records in Manhattan usually every other week, crate digging for samples or gems

the secret to producing is to rip off songs you like, at first reproduce them from scratch then slowly add your own twist till its a unique product.
i use hardware most of time, but you can bootleg FL studio really easily and as long as you dont use the presets you can make some really rad different sounds

Never even heard of that place, I haven't lived in the city for 7 years at this point and I hate Manhattan.

My favorite rapper of all time is Kanye West. I think my other favorites are YG, Tyler (post Wolf), Schoolboy Q, Young Thug, and ASAP Rocky.
I used to really be into Chance and Gambino, but I kind of hate Bino now and I don't like Chance's newer music. A$AP Ferg, Travis Scott, Big Sean, Rae Sremmurd and Future are good too.
I only recently started paying more attention to production so I can't name any favorites but Thundercat and Arca seem pretty cool.
Favorite albums? Late Registration, Yeezus, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix, probably Plastic Beach.
