Can you recommend me some (good) movies that don't have a happy ending?

I'm not looking for some cheap plot twist either, just movies that, instead of artificially ending well, just, sort of, end.

Your inevitable biopic

This is the most depressing movie I have ever seen.

Only God Forgives

bad ending or just ending that doesn't tie up anything?

The Graduate has 100% what you're looking for.

just, as i wrote, not artificial happy ending.

seen em, loved em.

>Gets the girl

meh. looks old.
and I'm not necessarily looking for depressing stuff.
If I wanted that, I'd just watch fly over the cuckoo's nest.

Inside Llewyn Davis
The Grey
No Country For Old Men

>realises he didn't really want the girl in the first place

Not in a artificial "happily ever after" way.

There will be Blood

>Inside Llewyn Davis
>The Grey

thanks, will check em out

seen it.

Come and See

The Blair Witch Project

war is hell

;__;7

>1971
>old

Down by law

old

any movie that was released before I was born looks old and irrelevant to me mr trips. I watch movies for entertainement, not for documentation.

old and

>jarmusch

thanks but no thanks

Buried. If you want to see Ryan Reynolds die.

(You)

I've heard about the movie before but I don't really like the premise. It reminds me of that movie where a guy is on the phone with someone who's gonna do some bad shit and he can't hang up or bad shit happens. It was really boring imo.

Phone booth? I had completely forgotten that was even a movie until reading your description.

yeah maybe. sorry for reminding you of it.

Happiness (1998)

seen it. good rec though, thanks.

Oldboy (original)

Hobo with a shotgun - sort of
Jacob's Ladder
Requiem for a dream

seen it, loved it. It kinda has a happy ending though.

thx

ah okay, don't mind me then :)

i don't remember oldboy having a very happy ending though.

well it's not a rom com kind of happy ending but he still gets to live a sort of decent life with his daughter whom he won't know is his daughter...

At the very end of the film Dae-su breaks into a wide smile, which is then slowly replaced by a look of pain, bringing into question whether the hypnosis worked. If it weren't for that I would agree with you.

Last American Virgin

thanks for pointing that out, didn't notice it. Makes me wanna watch it again.

is this good? should I watch it?

looks like the movie form Metallicas one video clip ?
Movies without a classical happy end:
Melancholia, The Road (bunch wrecking depressing shit going on there..), A.I.

>looks like the movie form Metallicas one video clip ?
It is.

A lot of French movies are like that. Romances especially.

Last one I watched was

Really good.

Oh, and a lot of Canadian indie movies have a somewhat hopeful, but not really happy ending.

That was a great little movie.

in contrast to the 1948 adaption, the ending to 2015 was bitter on all accounts.

Green Mile comes to mind
