3x3 thread

Post a 3x3, discuss charts and recently watched stuff and give recs to each others.

If you want to make one, use bighugelabs.com/mosaic.php ( square format ) or ipiccy.com/ ( keeps the cinematic ratio )

What's your favorite slapstick?

Does Duck Soup count?

Yes, slapstick doesn't have to be silent.

this is way too much fucking work, can someone make my 3X3 for me

Kill yourself
Just kidding friend, just list the movies

Recently watched:
Aparajito
Star Trek Beyond
The Lobster
De Palma
Phantom of the Paradise

What did you think of phantom of the paradise? It's one of my fav de palma.

top left?

CIA and the Wrong Trousers, an underrated kinographic experience.

>just list the movies
Thanks friend but I'm pretty tired, can you list the movies yourself, tnx

It was great. The scene where Williams auditions the same song with different genres stands out.

hmmmmmmmm

I asked because Duck Soup isn't too Chaplin or Three Stooges-esque, but more of a musical.

Sure, but it still has some slapstick elements.

Is a movie automatically a slapstick movie if it has slapstick elements? Could Dumb and Dumber be considered a slapstick movie?

did you enjoy The Lobster? i watched dogtooth for the first time a while ago, and while i felt it was a little better than the lobster, neither did much for me
would like to see more films about experiments on humanity to be honest

Can you list the movies? I only recognize "Eyes without a Face".

sure
Spirit of the beehive
Train Of Shadows
Distance

Voices through time
On an empty balcony
Out 1: Noli me tangere

Fe
Eyes Without A Face
City of pirates

have you seen judex?

Thanks my man, forgot to mention I also recognized Spirit of the Beehive.
Going to add the rest on this mosaic to my backlog.
>have you seen Judex
Nope. Why are you asking?

because i loved Eyes without a face, and i'd like to see more from Franju, so i wanted to know how more about Judex, i'll probably order a DVD soon...
have you seen more from Erice?
oh and if you have trouble finding any film i listed just tell me my dude

Sorry my man I can't answer your questions, I'm a pleb when it comes to movies, there's a lot of stuff I need to check out. I'd make a 3x3, but I only have a few staples, not sure about other picks. My staples are basically
>Playtime (favorite movie)
>Le Samourai
>Barry Lyndon
>The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie
>A Man Escaped
That's about it.
Thanks for offering help related to finding the movies.

Are you french?

well i'd recommend watching the three films of victor erice (spirit of the beehive, el sur, quince tree of the sun)
Buñuel's films in mexico (subida al cielo, los olvidados, ensayo de un crimen) i found them to be particularly interesting and complex while still being very entertaining
and if you want i can post an "essential films" chart i made a while ago

Not at all, but I did notice how I love french movies a lot. A lot of movies I really loved and would consider 3x3-tier are french ones.

Thanks for the suggestions, I plan on checking out Bunuel's works (watched The Exterminating Angel a few days ago, loved it), also I saw Spirit of the Beehive, but not El Sur and Quince Tree of the Sun. I'll check them out.

I read somewhere that Bunuel stated late in his life that his favorite movie of himself was the young one. I haven't watched it, but since you look like you've got more experience than me with his filmography, have you watched it?

here, forgot to say: please post your chart, and thanks in advance.

never really posted it anywhere but here ya go
about your buñuel question, i always thought he considered "l'age d'or" to be his best from his filmography, so thanks for sharing that about "the young one"
it's been a while since i've watched it, but the way i remember it it was very naturalist in it's craft, and not heavy on symbolism but it is on political imagery, as it is to be expected from the themes of the film
i'm not really a fan of it, not because of the anti racist theme but because, while it looked good, didn't play too much with visuals, though i can understand why he chose it as his favorite
will need to re watch so excuse my answer
probably a one of a kind in his catalogue
was not moved by it, despite the drama and themes, to be quite honest
but check it out and tell me what you think

Fantastic list, a lot of stuff here that I haven't seen. Saved.

Thanks man!
