What powerful empire has fallen the furthest that still exists? Like Britain and France are still major players in world affairs, Germany runs the EU, Russia remains the third strongest country in the world, Japan has the third strongest economy in the world... Is it Austria? Austria seems to do nothing despite once being so powerful.

Probably Oman or Sweden.

brasil

macedonia

That's what you get for messing with slavs. I mean seriously. Everything who touched slavs was corrupted.

Definitely Mongolia

>Mongol Empire collapses a few decades after attacking Russia
>Napoleon is defeated after attacking Russia
>Hitler is defeated after attacking Russia
>America defeats Russia by not attacking it directly
We've found the secret to beating you.

Compared to its former size/power probably Rome/Italy.
From literally all of the civilized world to... this.

Mongolia never counted for much outside their sphere of other chinks. Same with the Ottomans, I'd say Spain

Spain

>Russia defeats itself as it does regulary every 100 years.
I mean what did you do? Soviet union collapsed by its own.

Underrated

The way it's taught in America is that we spent a shitload on military stuff so the USSR had to spend even more, but our economy was better and lack of foresight caused yours to collapse as a result.

At the time that sphere was a pretty fukken big deal I think. They also helped drive a bigger wedge between Russia and Europe. At least Spain is kind of relevant these days, Mongolia just sort of exists and is almost just an extension of China

USSR spent even more on military in 50's and 60's but was developing, so nope, that doesn't fit.

Portugal was relevant as fuck. Now, it's Portugal

>Three colonies, two of which are in Africa, and a bunch of cities used for trading
Portugal's most important contribution to history was allying with Britain to fuck with the rest of Europe.

What caused the USSR's economy to collapse, then?

Well, you can say the same about quite a lot of countries since all big empires died at some point.
For Germany:
>Rome tries to fuck us - dead
>France (Napoleon) invades - gets rekt in every war ever after
>England loses all his empire beause of us
>Russia wins the war, still goes to shit due to us
>even the US goes to shit because of what we did 70 years ago

Don't mess with us - unless you are the jews. Then you might get an own country and some submarines.

It's structure and the basic principles. Stalin built economy of mobilization for world war he forgot or didn't have time to rebuild it. Add all that damage that we got 1914-1949 and here it is. The colossus on legs of clay.

>Russia goes to shit
It actually became better than it was although it was shit so nope.
>USA going to shit
Is it?
>England loses empire
That's more due to the US desu
>Rome
You was trying to fuck up rome not vice versa

>What powerful empire has fallen the furthest that still exists?
Austria without a doubt. They went from being the largest country in Europe, respected and powerful and at some point in its history on the verge of becoming the leader in a Universal Monarchy, to being cut into pieces that are each individually mere fotonotes on the political stage. The only reason why most people even remember there was an empire is Sisi, and their entire culture has been reduced to "We're Germans but with a sense of humor xDDDD".

GOTT ERHALTE FRANZ DEN KAISER ;_;

They founded modern global trade and discovered most of the unknown world. Portugal fucking invented colonialism.

I thought Holland invented global trade.

It's probably Austria. The Austrian nation-state is actually an artificial construct, before the end of the empire they saw themselves as Germans, Hungarians, Poles, Serbs, Slovenes etc etc all unified under a single Emperor, there was no such thing as an Austrian nation, it did not exist. Its creation basically ended for Austria any ideas of multi-national empire forever. The ultimate humiliation, as the Austrian Empire was an old great power that was important in world affairs for half a millennium.

Not even the French have fallen so low

Greece
Spain
Italy
Portugal

Portugal was first

>Not even
You say that like France isn't a relevant power nowadays. It's actually pretty on par with Britain nowadays. I know Francophobia is part of British culture, but keep in mind that you're indirectly humiliating yourselves here.

Japan has the third largest GDP, economies are more complicated than that my melanin enriched friend

Holland picked up from Portugal after they were absorved by Spain. But the portuguese created the knowledge and infrastructure necessary.

Jesus Christ it was a joke, Arjen

>It actually became better than it was although it was shit so nope.
Do people really live better today than before winning the war? Pic kinda related...

>Is it?
White guilt, 53%...

>That's more due to the US desu
Still had quite a bit untill it had to focus allo f its power to fight us. See India sucking Hitlers dick still today.

>You was trying to fuck up rome not vice versa
Teutoburg forest is not exactly located in Italy.

Turkey

What? They had the worlds largest land empire, stretching from Eastern Europe to the East of China. There's no doubt they're the power that has fallen the greatest.

>Russia remains the third strongest country in the world
Dat cool stories, russiaboo. Please go on!

Now they have the special Olympics

>Hitla
Murrika was literally feeding and dressing hungry and barefoot Gommies at the time.

>by its own

mongolia

Babylon.

>that still exists

The Papal States used to be a significant part of Italy and vicinity. Now the Vatican's area is microscopic.

But billions of people around the world take the Vatican's leader seriously. Can you say the same for Austria?

>53%
I swear you are lowering these numbers as you go
It's really 63%, not 56% or anything like that

Armenia once had an empire.

Persia

Oman Empire

>gets rekt in every war ever after
Not by Germans though. In fact Germans didn't even put a fight after getting BTFO in 17 days

This.
Just think what russia could be if the bolshevik revolution never happened.
We would not be independent tho, but still.

Mehmet please.

Mehmet please.

Mehmet please.

>all of the civilized world
Yeah nah. They were no more civilized than anyone else, even Germanic tribes. Less civilized really.

What? What was 1870? WW2?
