best band ever
I don't think I have a fave, but if I had to pick.
They look so joyous. I might look them up... IF YA CAN CONVINCE ME.
srsly u have 2 because my computer can't handle more than 2 tabs in chrome so that's a lot of effort, yano.
They made two perfect albums full of bleak poetic bliss... dark and overwhelmingly emotional post-punk.

Happy birthday, you will thank me later in life.
ALrIGht, checkinG it out now.
Will I get to thank you in person?
I'm user so I could be anyone... thank Ian Curtis most of all for living long enough (23 years) to give us his eternally valid songs of sorrow.
After you finish those two (listen to each twice, if you can), check out some deep cuts/live content:

Cheers, user.
Yeah, and I'm user too, so you totally don't know who I am?
I'll write these down. I have nothing but time
best epilepsy induced dance/r of all time
Still listening to "unknown pleasures"
I'll get to it. promise
It's a great clip, eh?
Good-o. Enjoy
That post wasn't me (OP) btw, some random user that knows the band just posted it. FYI.
Also, once you've taken the dive into the musical tar pit of Joy Division (which you will never again escape), you really should get around to watching the (somewhat) recent film about Ian Curtis, called "Control". It's great.
Take the dive? But I'm already so far under the water. (0.o)
...
The real dive begins on your second listen. ;)
As many unknown depths as there are unknown pleasures.
...
Oh I'm also a big NIN fan and Trent did a good cover a Joy Division song as well:
I don't know... definitely reflecting on this pool of words you've set before me.
Ever seen an art car?
Ian Curtis lived and an herod in my home town.
RIP
Joy Division is life
Not fucking Joy Division
you missed this post:
Just posting vids to interest the other anons in the film, after hearing the albums posted earlier in the thread.
also they're enjoyable performances in their own right
Old school chili peppers were the shit and none of you can debate that.
I like Blood Sugar Sex Magic and Californication but def not my favorite band
There aren't many, if any, bands that changed the shape of music the way that Joy Division did with only two albums.
No better band to start the goth scene than JD.
Also, Hipsters who wear JD shirts to look cool: fuck off, Ian Belongs to the goths.
JD belongs to nobody, and everybody.
Try as you may he is the main progenitor like christ to christians.
kinder
They may have planted the seed but Bauhaus and The Cure watered and nurtured the plant
and then Nine Inch Nails ripped it from its roots and took a piss in the hole
and then Skrillex thought the piss was lemonade, sipped it up, and barfed
Correction, the music press did. Nurtured with JD's influence to guide them.
I'm not saying Trent hated goths I just think he was impatient with their dissipated, lethargic attitude and wanted to infuse more noise and rage into the mix, maybe ended up turning more goths into industrial punks + metal heads
not really a bad or good thing
No what I'm trying to say is Trent probably didn't wanna associate himself with goth the way he is now but the music press surely did for sensationalism. In the 90s and 00s they slapped the G-word on everything.
Trent likes certain "goth" music, Joy Division I've heard is his favorite band and he toured with Bauhaus/Peter Murphy.
also, do you think Marilyn Manson would have ever been a thing if it weren't for Goth?
Right, but I don't think his goal was ever to fully get in bed with Goth but rather appreciated it.
If Alice Cooper was, Manson could've too but probably not to the same extent.

how many more low res goth pics do you have saved?
Not very many, I'm into the culture and scene but it's not like I need to post about it often.
Joy Division!
best band ever
Personally, it's hard to choose between Nine inch Nails and Tool. Both great bands
seen them both live, both are amazing, can't choose
I would love to see them live, but I live in a country where not a lot of bans I like play in
Really influential band, but I can't agree with people saying Ian had a "beautiful singing voice" though.
his voice was shit, thats what made it """special"""
nobody said that
Ian was a poet before a singer
