There are a large number of people on this board that WILL defend this movie and claim that it's a better film than The Force Awakens.

Why is this allowed?

Because anti-TFA circlejerk

...

TFA is worse than Clone Wars

No but objectively, it is.
Nice bait though fag, you got me to reply, well done well done.

DAILY REMINDER: Star Wars™ is now Bernie.

Return of the Jedi is disappointing when directly compared to its predecessors, though, on its own, its a fine film that occasionally reaches greatness and provides a satisfactory conclusion to the Original Trilogy.

Ewoks. Literally any scene with them in was shit. Lucas actually had the Empire turned into a joke by having little teddy bears defeat them. It's a miracle Star Wars was taken seriously after that, and when Lucas tried again with the Gungans/prequels to make it purely a child's cartoon.

Han and Leia had nothing going on in the narrative at all. And of course, they LITERALLY rehashed the Death Star which everyone shits on TFA for doing, but at least TFA changed it up a bit and the main focus of the last act was on the character relations between our protagonists and Han and Kylo.

Opening sequence of Jedi is all time really. Goes off the boil, but fuck me that whole escalating setpiece is perfect.

even 3 is better than the diversity awakens... and 3 is still shit except for the emperor

Explain to me why TFA is a good movie

It's when it started going downhill but at least it was still the same genre back then. Not marvel porn.

>Empires>Revenge>New Hope>TFA>Return>Phantom>Clones

It IS a childrens movie for fucks sake, what do you expect?
When I first saw rotj in the cinema as a 7 year old back in 83 I thought the Ewoks were fucking awesome.
If you can't get into it as a millennial manchild in this day and age, maybe Star Wars isn't for you.

I know the ewok part sucks, but Luke's and Vader's storyline escalates, which is totally perfect. Force Awaken has nothing like it. Its only good for like 20 minutes and it still has flaws.

People vastly overexaggerate how bad the Ewoks are. They're fine, nowhere near Prequel tier material. Lucas intended for them to be a Vietnam metaphor.

The Death Star rehash in TFA is much worse. It literally derails the film and it never truly recovers and from there TFA just continues to steal from Jedi. Luke, Emperor, and Vader's confrontation was much more rewarding than that of Han, Rey, and Kylo Ren.

It's not. None of them are that great. TESB is the best Star Wars movie and even that is a 7/10 at best.

You could just cut the death star out of TFA. Everyone goes to rescue the girl from the enemy. Board a Star Destroyer or something and blow it up, or just a base on a snow planet.

Besides the disappointment of seeing another spherical superweapon in SW, its introduction throws off the pacing. Everything feels off afterwards and the time devoted to it could have gone to either developing the characters or properly describing the universe.

Kylo Ren is such a faggot. Are we really supposed to take this weak jawlined emo bitch seriously as a villain

fuck off

its much better than tfa, the first and last half hour as goat star wars

The Force Awakens was worst than the worst film of Lucas.
It is bad until the find the Halcon, after that is just unwatchable.

>Revenge>New Hope

HAHAHAHAHA

I actually really fucking hate the hour long boring as bit at Jabba's palace. Literally the only good bits are the emotional lightsaber battle, based Sheev and the space battle. Endor Ground stuff sucks a dick, even ignoring the Ewoks

this

ROTJ had probably the best moments in the whole saga but it's surrounded by shit

This movie was good except for Endor. TFA is pretty good but the final Luke-Vader-Emperor fight beat anything in it.

jabbas palace is the best of the OT and its hakf an hour

Jabbas palace was the best part of ROTJ. Rescue of Han Solo was just classic SW action. It's the middle chunk of the movie that sucked, the beginning and final acts are actually breddy gud.

...

>Why is this allowed?
I dunno, why are you allowed to live?

it was a poor follow up to Empire with a hell of a lot of nonsense and teddy bears and shit, but it's still a better movie than The Force Awakens.

The worst thing about RotJ is lost potential. Lucas rushed this movie and sloppily tied up all of the elements introduced in ESB because of his shitty divorce. Leia was never supposed to be Luke's sister, there was never supposed to be a Death Star II, yoda wasn't supposed to die, etc...

It has pacing issues, underutilized characters, the whole second act sucks, and the shoved in prequel shit at the end with the "NOOOOOOOOO" and young ghost anakin and gun gas celebrating on Naboo.

It's a fun movie, but easily the weakest OT film.

>Holding the special edition against it
BRUH

Yeah, that's the point. He's a powerful but really conflicted and shitty young man who is trying really hard to live up to his interpretation of how great Vader was and constantly lashes out because he's frustrated that he isn't living up to that. I'll take a dozen of these over another faceless generic super-powered villain with some contrived motivation.

I will on the de facto basis that it was the first movie I remember seeing in theatres. I will love it regardless of how much shit people throw at it.

So he's like Anakin, but uglier, less powerful, and less threatening as a villain.

He's like anakin but more relatable and better written. Anakin was a sex creep crazy asshole. Kylo is just desperate to live up to impossible standards and had to murder his father just to try and keep the light side of the force from taking him.

Because it is and it's not even close. TFA sucked fat dicks.

>People vastly overexaggerate how bad the Ewoks are. They're fine, nowhere near Prequel tier material.

This

If you pay the slightest bit of attention tfa is garbage.

tfw you realize Ford was dragging his feet on signing the contract so they had to prepare for the eventuality that Han would die in the opening so Han is a completely useless character that does literally nothing in the film

nah

How would you even write that?

But you forgot that Rotten Tomatoes was created by the clandestine feminazi / SJW / jew / fedora / C.UCK / nigger / tumblr / fag / reddit / Shillary / anti-MRA / anti-pedo / blue pill / Muslim / immigrant / anti-Trump coalition to brainwash the public into thinking TFA and Ghostbusters are good movies and DC superhero movies aren't ;)

If I could completely ignore all context and forget that it's a Star Wars film, I MIGHT give TFA a 6.5, but an 8.2?

Wew

...

>I'm a pack animal

Unpopular Opinion Here
ROTJ was better than TFA but TFA was good.

You just write a movie where Han stands next to Leia or Chewie the entire time so if Ford pulls out they can just have one of them complete all of his actions.

Also give Lando the exciting Death Star assault in the Falcoln

So the angry DC fan is pretending to be a paid critic?

Your heavy leftard sarcasm doesn't change the fact nor hide that their is indeed a political agenda in Hollywood (hell some people even tried to literally hunt the commies in Hollywood once, remember ?), that the cyber leftist press loves of course, as we saw for Cisbusters, sorry Aaron ;^)

it's not great but TFA is legitimately bad.

>Unpopular

That's the basic consensus everywhere besides this memepool of a board.

Most normies see it like this:

5 = 4 > 6 > 7 >>> 3 >>>>>>> 1 = 2

But isn't that what happened?

TFA was only good because the prequels were such shit. The originals are all better. Yeah ewoks were shit, but final confrontation with Emperor was goat.

TFA started great but became the adventures of Mary Sue vs Manchild emo badguy.

normies will like what they are told to like.

fuck off, both are great.

>they haven't destroyed Lando yet

Only a matter of time

/thread

tfa is shit

fuck offfffffff the force awakens is shit

source?

>He's a powerful but really conflicted and shitty young man who is trying really hard to live up to his interpretation of how great Vader was and constantly lashes out because he's frustrated that he isn't living up to that.
Haha that sounds exactly like this film and all its supporters

>nigger jedi
>5/10 mediocre jewess
>blacked tier agenda
>beating the dead horse known as Harisson Ford

Forgot to add
>scrawny /fa/ggot numale jew antagonist with cross shaped lightsaber

Finn came off like a black comedy side kick. He should have been an operator who develeps humanity/personality from his interactions with the rest of the cast. They also should have used at least some of the aliens from the previous movie instead of the doctor who rejects we got.

Simple. It came first. TFA is a carbon copy of this movie.

nah. Keep crying though.

Why are you on Sup Forums at 40

>keep crying
as if I care that plebs like shit movies news at 10

They use the iconic ships for nostalgia but no Twi'leks, Biths, ithorians. What a waste.

If you took the Ewok shit out RotJ would be the best Star Wars movie period. The scenes with Luke, the Emperor, and Vader are the height of the series.

Why aren't you out there enjoying your youth?

If you remove every scene on Endor it's at least on par with ANH.

30 something yr old here. Sick burn, my oldfag chum

Because it objectively is.
The throne room scenes alone were better than any in TFA.

TFA was alright, but only because the bar was set so low by the shitquels. If TFA was released right after the OT, everyone would have begged Lucas to come back.
TFA was like a C or maybe a C-. Passing, but I have no real desire to watch it again.

You care enough to reply.

and (You)

I hate this useless fucking board

shut up Satan

if I wanted to pick apart the writing directing camera work and acting i could but i dont feel like it

kylo being ok and finn being a good actor didnt save it

Ewoks make sense to me, why would the Empire set up their super secret shield generator trap on a planet full of chewbaccas or something they percieve as dangerous? Of course they do it on a planet/moon full of seemingly harmless teddy bears.

Does everyone here not realize that TFA was a soft reboot of the series to get everyone back on the same page? 7 was basically to remind everyone what 4-6 were and the next two are gonna be where actual stuff happens. Kathleen Kennedy had to unsink the fucking ship before they could start with a whole new direction.

VIII is gonna kick ass and Rian Johnson is gonna steer us into clear and beautiful waters.

Rey could be decent with Rian but its only because of Rian. Shes not particularly good at all. Neither is trevorrow.

It was too focused as a remake instead of having some originality. Yea im excited for VIII but that doesnt mean VII is good.

The Ewoks may not have been prequel tier but they certainly weren't OT tier either.

>Lucas intended for them to be a Vietnam metaphor

You're giving Lucas way too much credit.

i think they were fine im a different user. i dont care about the vietnam thing. the fact is small vs large is a common theme of all star wars. vader vs luke for example.

The reason i say the ewoks work is their originally intended to be wookies, while this is a good idea wookies rip limb from limb and it wouldnt have been an actual battle, thise little basterds out up a fight. their village was comfy youre gating on their looks, but its star wars. lots of kids liked them

Lucas has said before that they were inspired by the Viet Cong

But that is the objectively correct ranking.

...

I was let down by the force awakens and shit like this doesn't help.

rian can direct a party scene

ESB is one of the best films of all time, straight up kino. The character arcs, dialouge, editing, score, visuals, and pacing are all basically perfect. It is a continuation of aNH yet is very clearly it's own film. Yoda's training of Luke provides some of the best western interpretation of eastern philosophy there is. Trolling some shit like "7/10" is part of why this board is going to shit.

How is Kylo Ren even remotely /fa/

>no jawline
>goofninja went out of style years ago
>80s rocker hair
>huge nose
>probably listens to Linkin Park or some shit

not /fa/ at all

The cinematography is lackluster for the most part, although there is that one very good shot of Darth Vader's silhouette in the carbon freezing chamber.

But for the most part it is weak visually.

Ewoks aside, I enjoyed Jedi more than TFA. TFA may have been better put together and there wasn't as much of a tone issue, but overall TFA didn't do enough new to get me invested in it. Same basic premise, kept the old characters, ship designs were pretty uninspired, characters have some potential but obviously need more development, I could go on and on.

In short, Jedi was better for ME, than TFA, I'll leave other people to make their own judgments about it.

It's not hard to "put together" a movie when you're literally copying and older movie's formula

Fuck TFA so hard. And fuck JJ Abrams for being a talentless jewish hack

Force Awakens is the worst movie ever made.

this

Even the prequels were at least doing something kind of different and trying new things. TFA is a pile of dogshit and Abrams can go fuck himself.

TFA btfo

Its true, all of it

Does anyone else actually kind of like the prequels? I know they're shit but I still like them. Maybe because I grew up with them. I feel oddly nostalgic for Attack of the Clones in particular.

Still better than TFA though.

OBJECTIVE POWER RANKINGS

TESB > ANH > ROTJ > AOTC > TPM > ROTS > literal turd >>>>> TFA
