He's got to feel like crap now, Ocon started to beat him toward the end of the year, he's been passed over for Mercedes, Force India, and Williams. But who knows we could all be wrong, and he'll be announced.

Part of me though really wants the Aus 14 script to happen to Bottas if he get's the seat. Imagine the reaction if Hamilton has an engine issue in the season opener again, and Bottas goes on to get his first win.

I'd welcome that, since I'm flying to smellbourne for the GP and am a Bottas fan.

McLaren will be the best car in 2018, then we'll see who has the last laugh

that GTR had 4wd, 610bhp, 4 wheel steering and was slightly lighter than a Supercar, compared to the commodore's RWD, 635bhp and 2 wheels steering, so how does the Supercar lap Bathurst 7 seconds faster?

surely it can't all be down to brakes and suspension, which are probably the only things the current gen had over the GrA GTR.

About 9 years ago judging from the upload date of this video.

UK has 9, Hamilton is Grenadian-American

apparently he used to have videos of him and his friends doing summer activities shirtless on that channel and had to delete them when he got to gp3

Yeah but I counted Scheckter as British because he's a Muslim

>Liberty Media want to put a budget cap in place, bring back European races (and more US races), get rid of oil shekel GPs and build a proper headquarters for F1 instead of an old airport and a house in west London

Can't believe he keeps skiing after his accident. And no helmet!

has there been any official word on what state he's in nowadays?

who is smug girl on the right?
she is bestgirl

Are they making F1 great again or fucking it up?

I'd say bit of both.

>Liberty Media want to put a budget cap in place
Yeah, because that's totally enforceable and not gonna lead to even more of a gap between top teams and backmarkers..

still potato

As a communist wouldn't you like the idea of the pay cap/level playing field though

>Mr Carey has already signalled a break with Mr Ecclestone’s focus on setting up new grands prix in the Middle East, in favour of re-connecting the sport with its core fanbase in western Europe, by turning races into “week-long extravaganzas”.
>week-long extravaganzas

I like the sound of that as long as long as we don't get a two race weekend

I'll believe it when I see it.

i dont think so meme user

Its not like people have to work during the week or anything...

Why do people completely completely misunderstand F1? F1 isn't fucking interesting. There's only so much you can milk out of it. Its never been that interesting to everyday people, it is what it is and a small group of fans really like it so they come watch it, that's it

Are nige is back lads

>because that's totally enforceable
if it's actually not enforceable and would benefit the big teams, why are they against it?

>set budget cap
>teams just lie about finances
>big teams set up hidden departments in their factories that work on F1 stuff low-key and pretend its for a secret new roadcar or some shit

How is any of this even enforcable?

i like what i'm hearing

Mandate all development to be recorded through a FIA body, any sercret development would be impossible.

>road car development
>some technology is applicable to F1
>accidentally go over cap and get disqualified

Literally can't enforce it in any fair way

yeah they totally banged in the toilets and she's proud as fug that her plan to seduce him by wearing a €10 pit girl costume to show she's serious about racing worked, smart girl, she is

Which European GPs could they bring back? We already have:

>Russia
>Spain
>Monaco
>Austria
>UK
>Hungary
>Belgium
>Italy
>France

European countries that have hosted GPs in the past:

>Germany
>Portugal
>Sweden
>Netherlands

I vote for Finnish GP at a new track that is not shit (that excludes all the current ones including Kymi Ring). Czech GP at Brno would be awesome but that would probably fuck up the eternal Hungaroring so probably not a good idea.

Drop Sochi for sure, honestly would say same for Monaco, just don't like it, but it has history which will probably save it & can provide some pretty meme races I guess

>Drop Amx killer
No thanks.

I honestly wish Liberty media would buy Nürburgring or Hockenheim and just sell tickets for reasonable prices like Italy and Belgium do. Hell, it's even cheaper at interlagos.
Netherlands would be a good idea for toothpaste shekels but fuck them.
San Marino would be nice and I bet another South American GP would be profitable as I think most of SA loves motor sports.

Imola, Nürburgring, Hockenheim, Magny-Cours (lol), Brands Hatch, Estoril, Jerez, Donington and Dijon-Prenois are the "classic" Euro circuits that have left the calendar (but for obvious reasons only the first three or four are even contenders for a return)

Then there's circuits like Jarama, Algarve, Ricardo Tormo, Zolder or even Motorland Aragon which aren't contenders but could be persuaded. (lol and those 3 Spanish tracks are better than Catalunya by far)

Dutch GP would be good if they built a new circuit somewhere (Zandvoort too small and Assen not great for cars) and had it at the start of the summer so as not to interfere with the Belgian one as much. Max is gonna be around for a while to come and then you have Verschoor, and as long as the Dutch national team a shit toothpastes will loyally support their drivers.

a Swedish or Finnish GP would be dank but weather and most circuits aren't very good

Algarve would be a good Portuguese host

if F1 starts to operate on the >go to the fans, don't make the fans come to you principle like Formula E they'd be spoilt for choice for circuits

Bring back the argie GP.

>I honestly wish Liberty media would buy Nürburgring or Hockenheim
that would work - Bernie/FOM already own Paul Ricard - they just have to get a third party promoter on board because there ain't no way in hell Bernie is paying the €30m race fee himself

>you will never be your country's most accomplished sportsman
why even live

I honestly believe a Finnish GP would've been more likely under Bernie dictatorship.

Who?

Luís Sá Silva

Good post. Honestly though, Imola is a borefest (I don't get the fascination with this place, it is really not a track that suits modern F1 racing well at all although it is fun to do hot laps in games), Hockenheim and Nurburg have been done a million times and I dunno, I don't really miss them? Those tracks have been raced to death. Dutch fans already have Spa and Belgium is practically the same country and they already travel there in hoards so do they really need a designated Dutch GP?

I would love Mugello but I guess that will never happen. It is a "big enough" track to make F1 work even though most of the overtakes would be at the end of the straight.

Finnish GP would be cool but Finland is too small of a market for it to be worth it. We aren't that many people and knowing Finnish people, most would just think "meh, too expensive, I'll watch it on the TV". Plus there actually isn't a track to even host a race on lol. Maybe Kymi Ring but it is looking so fucking uninspired and is in the middle of nowhere (I think) and will likely look so bleak if its cloudy that it would scare people away from Finland for good. Plus the whole weather thing, it could easily get down to like 10 degrees celcius or lower with permanent rain even in the middle of summer, so it would be a bit risky.

Europe needs some new tracks honestly.

It's not worth it for anyone involved to have a Finnish GP, even if we had a pre-existing FIA approved track, which we don't. Central European races draw hundreds of thousands of people, wasn't Silverstone like 300K? Good luck getting those numbers in Finland, and good luck getting people to travel to Finland just to watch a race. It would be Finns, some Swedes and some Russians and maybe some Euros but thats about it.

Everything would be so expensive and I don't think there's that many people in Finland wiling to throw money away like that just to host a F1 race, especially with the product dying hard currently. We didn't get even talks about a Finnish GP during Häkkinen's heyday so we aren't gonna get one unless Bottas goes to Merc and becomes likeable and wins championships.

>Hockenheim and Nürburg raced to death

I wouldn't mind seeing Hockenheim gone for good even if it's only one hour from here, but I'd love to see the Nürburgring make a comeback.

There's also our most modern facility, the Lausitzring

I don't know why other Pekka thinks Bernie would have given Finnish GP a better chance. We know what happens to the organization fees when Bernie is not there demanding ridiculous sums anymore. Might actually become feasible for Kymiring.

I honestly believe getting people to the GP wouldn't be a problem, lots of motorsport fans in Finland, plus lots of Russians with good railroad connections. I mean come on, it's F1, it's not dying.

>Lausitzring

Though I quite like the track, if F1 would end up racing there it would most likely turn into a shitshow with the tires, like in Indianapolis.

They don't have to use the "oval" bankings

I agree about Imola. It had its place but has been outgrown.

Hockenheim isn't exactly good (I'm a fan of Nürb, though) but Liberty could get Germany passionate about F1 again

>do they really need a designated Dutch GP?
IMO there's a market for it. Spa said Dutch fans created a record attendance there this year or something like that, and it's reasonable to assume many would go to both if the tickets were cheap enough. You're right about Belgium being the same country lel

Mugello is based, I agree. Runoff might be too short and drivers like Petrov will bitch about the track being narrow or barriers being close even though it's no worse than the rest of the pre-Senna circuits that are/were recently around in F1

Finland's market is too small, yeah, which is why it would have to share with Sweden (plus maybe Norway/Denmark/west Russia). A lot of Finns already go to the Hungarian GP, and they're not as diehard as toothpastes so might be damaging to Magyar Nagydíj. Kymi Ring is grade 2 and its owners don't want F1

Mickey mouse af

>They don't have to use the oval bankings
But T13 is banked isn't it? Or is there an alternate layout that runs on the alongside the turn?

looks flat enough I guess

red = banked final turn
blue = non banked final turn (used by bikes)

>communist
Funny, last time I checked the only sport-leagues with budget/salary-caps are located in the Capitalistic States of America.

really activates them almonds.

I thought it was the resurfaced tarmac that caused the problem, not the banking

>American sports

I don't count the American slave trade as a sport lad

Drop Russia, drop Catalunya and replace with GOAT street circuit like Montjuic or Pedralbes (not gonna happen), bring Germany (Nurburgring), Netherlands (rebuild old Zandvoort somewhere else), San Marino (Imola), Portugal (Estoril or whatever idgaf) maybe even bring a new country like Switzerland or Denmark in.

Move Monaco to the region's most rainy season to provide meme races like 1996.

Bring Watkins Glen and Long Beach in.

Drop China, Malaysia, Singapore (it's happening), Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, maybe Baku (wildcard).

Bring new Kyalami back.

Make F1 great again.

Also do that different European GP shit we talked about some time ago. Use 1 different meme track like Brands Hatch, Donington, Zolder, Magny Cours, Jerez, Hockenheim, Estoril, Valencia every year.

Also Asian GP with Shanghai, Yeongam, Singapore, Malaysia, Aida, Adelaide, Losail, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Baku, Sakhir...

And bring back Argentine GP in Autodromo Oscar Galvez

>drop Catalunya
you're a sensible goy

rare

new

imploding :)^

/teamflörsch/

Replace Catalunya or move testing elsewhere.

Long Beach is unfortunately particularly good nowadays, look at the Indy Car races there, its a pretty bland circuit and would never pass FIA standards. Watkins Glen is a great track but F1 would manage to fuck it up somehow plus I dont know whats going on with that track anyway, stands were practically empty with Indycar this year.

Malaysia is indeed getting dropped but it is a good circuit. Bahrain is by far the best of the arab ones and Baku needs another chance.

Pretty sure motor racing is still banned in Switzerland lol because muh Le Mans 1955

I think I literally made this post a while back lol but yea the rotating Asian/European track idea is good I think

>Malaysia is indeed getting dropped but it is a good circuit. Bahrain is by far the best of the arab ones
objectively correct

Would zhuhai be a good race? Endurance racing took place there.

Also turkey should be added alongside brno

>Pretty sure motor racing is still banned in Switzerland

They recently made an exception for electric vehicle racing because of Formula E
