Sony never learns, you should know that by now.

But muh ride in dubai!

why haven't they gone bankrupt yet

surely videogames alone an't prop up the entirety of a giant dying conglomerate

No way, the impressive streak of terrible decisions can't be brought to an end quite so simply. Sony basically makes exclusively awful films and it isn't going to stop until there's a pretty drastic shift in who calls the shots on which movies get made and who they hire to write, direct, act etc. I can see them having a streak of maybe 3 good movies in a row in about 7 years from now optimistically, IF they start hiring better people/shifting up their producers immediately.

I want them to force a sequel so it further destroys Sony and maybe make them go bankrupt

Of all time is a bit of an exaggeration. Just this summer, we had BFG and Star Trek Beyond which were bigger flops. But yeah, it's doing pretty horribly.

don't worry, they're also making an Ocean's Eleven female reboot, it's all gon b k

Well that worked out well for them. All female Bond when?

Kek. I don't have any political reason to enjoy this, but I love that such blatant pandering failed miserably. Sony still won't learn their lesson, though. I'm continuously baffled at how they stay in business.

I feel bad for the BFG flopping, it was okay, better than the Secret Life of Pets and Ice Age 5. Star Trek 3 flopping though is pure schadenfreude delight.

They've scammed every pensioner in Japan with their Insurance Company.

Sony insurance and PS4's are literally propping the whole of Sony up right now.

They have the insurance business and sell electronic components (like light sensors) to other companies.

>Sony Pictures is not moving forward with a sequel to the Ghostbusters reboot, contrary to previous statements made by the studio. Sony is anticipating a loss in the neighborhood of $100 Million in relation to the film’s theatrical run. “It’s not going to happen,” says a source within the studio. “There’s no interest in doing another film.”

And a male genderswapped reboot of Splash starring Chaning Tatum as the Mermaid ..take me away from this Earth.

variety.com/2016/film/news/splash-remake-channing-tatum-jillian-bell-1201827697/

Not a chance Ovaries 11 will do the same.

Can't wait for the trailer to drop.

>ihorror.com/ghostbusters-sequel-dead-reboot-facing-100m-loss/amp

Wait, what? It was just 70 mill and now they're set to lose 100 mill? WHAT? Wow!

...

>Ghostbusters had 4 men
>Now it has 4 women instead
>This is so progressive

It's fucking lazy is all it is. Trying to package laziness as progressive social commentary is pathetic.

Fuck Jews, I am glad this movie is died.

I blame men

Let's wallow in some butthurt shall we?

nydailynews.com/amp/entertainment/movies/congrats-ghouls-trolling-ghostbusters-worked-article-1.2745798

...

>There’s a feeling that casting women in the roles may have been a mistake.
>But no one really knows for sure.

This shits gotta be troll right?

And to think they could have made so much money by being actually progressive and having a mixed gender team. Just drop McCarthy and Jones and add Hemsworth (as a Ghostbuster) and Chris Pratt and this would have made 700 million at least.

That is if someone other than Paul Feig would have been in charge of the movie of course.

For me it wasn't the women that made it bad, it was the months of hardline feminist/SJW marketing. You can't insult your pre-existing audience and expect your movie to succeed.

>ethan sacks
>has no sack

People spoke with their wallets like they should if they don't like something.

> if someone other than Paul Feig would have been in charge of the movie of course.

see that's the real problem, no mater who starred in it, it still would have been fart jokes, multiple time wasting dance scenes and shameless product placement so long as Feig was in charge.

...

aw if you could fix the blur then that would be amazing

Oceans 8 here we come

The free market saved the day. Libertarians have the right idea.

>So what happened? Was the budget too high? Did people just stay away in droves? Did the trolls contribute to a fun summer comedy being perceived as a political hot potato?
>It’s worrisome that brats with access to a computer can willfully damage a movie or any other cultural endeavour for their own amusement. Laurie Penny, writing in The Guardian, suggests that beating up on Ghostbusters is “another internet tantrum against change,” as it becomes slightly less culturally necessary to pander to straight white men.
>She writes, “Organized trash-reviewing is now standard practice when certain corners of the internet panic about losing their privileged place in culture and need to go to their scream room and throw some toys around.”

>as it becomes slightly less culturally necessary to pander to straight white men.

>Laurie Penny

>Why is this being perceived as a political hot potato?

This lack of self awareness

torontosun.com/2016/08/12/after-ghostbusters-flop-and-suicide-squad-battle-are-the-trolls-winning

fpbp

Black james bond
Hollywood jews cant wait to kill the bond francise

oh noes, now we won't get a sequel with chris pratt and channing tatum

>slightly less culturally necessary to pander to straight white men
kek
maybe they should try and make a good movie instead and not insult everyone who gives any sorts of criticism

Good.

True they had hemsworth and blew it he should of been a ghostbuster
2 males 2 females the movie would of made a small profit instead of being a flop.

>Laurie Penny
>The Goose saved her life by pulling her away from a speeding car
>Now you have to deal with her bullshit forever

The budget was too high and the cast had no sex appeal.

the original cast had sex appeal?

Always with the hair.

>Of all time is a bit of an exaggeration.

It isn't. There's only 19 other movies that have lost 100 million or more in the entire history of movies. For comparison, Cut throat Island is considered one of the biggest bombs ever, and it lost 138 million (inflation adjusted).

So this is up there.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_box_office_bombs

Btw, how in the hell did Titan AE cost 75-90 million dollars? Millennium Actress cost 1.2 million and is just a much better film.

Bill Murray was a fairly attractive man in his own right

In the 1980s there wasnt much competition and the special effects was groundbreaking for its time

The biggest movie a year prior was FLASHDANCE which was basically wet dancing female construction worker

>All female Bond when?
A Danger Girl movie would have been kickass.

still.. paying to see a movie just because you think an actor is attractive in this day and age where there is more freely available porn than you could ever fap to in your lifetime would be utterly pathetic.

You're comparing Japanese film production to American. It's a mixed bag of Hollywood accounting, and the fact that Japanese animators often get paid slave wages.

>marketing budget of nearly a quarter billion
oh sony

No, but you need it if the cast is all female

Does these people genuinely think a bunch of shut ins on various websites no normal person visits actually had any impact on the films lack of success?

Most people on here pirate shit anyway.

Japanese animators are paid pennies and Titan AE had some CGI that was quite expensive at the time.

They were average looking dudes who were pretty damn funny. 4 average looking, funny women would have worked just fine, but if they aren't funny, have no charisma AND 2 of them are revoltingly ugly, it's not gonna work.

Titan AE got moved around a lot. It used to be "Planet Ice" before they took it and gave it to Bluth.

I have a bunch of preproduction stuff and animator booklets from the movie. S'pretty neat.

You three are as bad as some studio executive using buzzwords like " it's got sizzle" to try and sell their movie.

Hollywood accounting is whole battlefield for films to turn profit

>Did the trolls contribute to a fun summer comedy being perceived as a political hot potato
This is gold. After all their political soapboxing around this movie now they're blaming people everyone else for politicising it?

Yes if they had diversified their actors, it would not have also looked like an SNL skit

Sony is literally starting to fuck up in videogames as well. Xbox is slowly merging into PC. Sony still on consoles only.
Buy up the CoD exclusive contract just as CoD gets the biggest wave of hate and shit.
Drops the Battlefield contract, just as a big wave of popularity is brought towards it. Microsoft snatches the contract.

Rip

They are just continuing a false narrative.

That is all the media does.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_box_office_bombs#Biggest_box_office_bombs

This is the biggest flop of all time, it lost disney 200 mil.

CoD is still gonna sell like hotcakes though

It's either blaming the movie's failure on that kind of guys or accepting that the movie was a huge fuck up and that the marketing alienated the original's fanbase without attracting a new demographic.

It's not a conscious thing and it's not even about sexual arousal. It's just human nature that we become more invested and feel more sympathetic towards beautiful people. Hollywood has always understood that, which is why you 99% of both male and female actors who are cast as protagonists / heroes are good looking.

Don't pretend you wouldn't want a Joanna Dark movie

>has Sony learned their lesson?

Have feminists learned their lesson?

Have SJWs learned their lesson?

Have numale cucks learned their lesson?

It isn't likely. They still think they're some kind of force to be reckoned with. They still think they are "winning." They'll still be crying about this and a ton of other stuff for years yet. Luckily though they'll be attenuated and ineffectual as fuck once Trump gets elected ;^) At least in the US

So why didn't they just use Japanese animators then?

Yeah but a lot less, current pre-order compared to BO3 is shit, not even a quarter of it. The only thing bringing money into CoD atm is supply drop sales, Activision even said it. Pre-orders dropped, micro-dlc went up.

except in the 70s & 80s where actors could be ugly and film reached its zenith as a medium for story telling.

I don't want any video game based movies because video games are poorly written, cliche as fuck, trying too hard to be deep, and just plain dumb.

And I like video games.

It is ridiculous that in the current year people are preordering

Its a genius scam, you pay full price for a half finished game, just so you can get digital content that took less than a day to make.

Bravo Activision
Bravo EA
Bravo Ubisoft

what gets me is people pre-ordering digital releases, what like they're afraid that the server will run out of the infinite copies it can produce on demand to download at anytime? however, this is discussion for Sup Forums

Only game I can come up with that could be a good movie is spec ops: the line

Perfect Dark is none of those things

studios are not stupid though. they saw what sony did and what happened to ghostbusters: if you cater to sjws you lose money. lots of money. and since hollywood loves fucking money, they probably won't make that mistake ever again. which is a good thing.

I swear someone at sony is actively trying to tank the company.

I don't know why but you have to try to fail this hard.

Because they discovered that Koreans are even cheaper.

>biggest flops of all time

Really? This is not Heaven's Gate

N64 shooters aren't movie material. Grow up. Tear up your ticket for assassin's creed

which is sad because it wasn't that bad of a movie

I fear the lesson they'll take is to only make movies that can be sold in China. Because as we well know movies can fucking shit but so long as they appeal to the Chinese then they'll rake in millions.

Let's go through the list from biggest loses:

>John Carter

Cost way too much. Was adapting some pulp sci-fi book from the 30's so it felt really out of place. Not sure why this was even made.

>Mars Needs Moms

Hideous abomination. Should have been aborted once those designs came up.

>Titan A.E.

30 million box office is about right. Adult animation action is a niche. It should have used Japanese animation, with Western writers, and cost 10 million max. Small run, then home video.

>47 Ronin

I swear this has to be some kind of money laundering scheme. Whole film feels like a joke. Why was this movie made and why did it cost so much? Studios seem to think that if they pour more money into a project it'll make more back. Because adding in a few more CGI scenes will totally make the difference.

>The Adventures of Pluto Nash

Perfectly fine idea if it had a decent budget. Why it cost 100+ million is beyond me. Personally never seen this one.

>Stealth

THought this looked cool actually. This is probably the one bomb I would have okayed.

>The Lone Ranger

Why was this made? Why did this cost so much?

>The Alamo

Totally dated concept. Old men who like John Wayne care about the Alamo.

>Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within

Same problem as Titan AE: adult animated features are a niche. Also instead of just making a fun action movie it's a slow, stilted weird film about ghost aliens. And the people move stiffly. Although the 3D animation is ground breaking, they should have just made a 2D animated film. It would have cost 2 million, and it would have made a profit.

>Pan

Must be thinking that Alice in Wonderland style film would make them billions. I at least understand the thinking behind it.

>R.I.P.D.

Why in the hell was this made and why did it cost so much? A 130 million dollar cop film staring Jeff Bridges. WHY. This isn't a super hero film like, say Iron Man, or a big film like Star Wars. Why is the budget so insanely high?

It didn't do that bad, and it hasn't been released in a lot of countries that are key markets. Combined with toy sales and DVD/Blu-Ray sales, it will be profitable. Probably will have a sequel now that a fan base has been established.

Only sonyggers will defend them. Sony will never learn.

>Laurie Penny

I knew I recognised that repellant mare from somewhere
youtube.com/watch?v=oj9dA6E3fJw

>Jack Frost

Truly a bizzare film. It has the premise of what should be a made for tv film, yet somehow ended up costing 85 million dollars.

Man I feel sorry for Taylor Kitsch, he played so well in Friday night lights and Lone Survivor.

I just want to point out that me and my friend (who is a female POC) are both bleeding heart liberals and both of us fucking hate everything about this movie & the controversy Sony has manufactured around it.

The only SJWs legitimately in the tank for this movie are the ones in the media and the ones in your head.

They were losing money on every PS3 sold for a while. They're only now getting a bump because of the ps4.

>once Trump gets elected
Yeah, thats not going to happen

Honestly, the media just made it so easy to hate the movie. After every major publication became shrieking feminists talking about how this was the pivotal moment for an imaginary gender war, it became fun to hate on the movie. If anyone's to blame, it's the SJW movie sites that wouldn't stop inadvertently encouraging trolls and Sony's marketing division that encouraged it.

It's great fresh source material. Cyber Punk female bond could be cool

Blacks always get recognized before females in America. They got to vote first and they got to be president first.

>Hillary
>not simultaneously seizing and shitting herself to death before November

Yeah, that's definitely going to happen

>you should know that by now

but you'll never never never know that
oh-oh-oh-oh...

Where are all the idiots who said this disaster was nothing like Fant4astic and that this piece of shit was TOTALLY getting its sequel?

The people defending the movie did more to alienate their audience than any shitposting anti-fan trolls, the trolls only made up like 1% of youtube views. The whole you're with us or you're a sexist position just pissed everyone off; condescending elites just annoys the moderate majority and most people saw through it.
