ching chong bing bong lol
Just saw the new 4k restoration at the theater last weekend. Man that movie was awesome. If it rolls through your town i definitely recommend it, even if you've already seen it before, seeing it on the big screen with a picked house is cool af
Sogo Ishii is a godsend
You're a big kino
Female Yakuza Tale
so, what should I watch today?
Funky Forest I've heard is good, Godspeed You Black Emperor is funnier than you'd think - if a bit monotone in the way it's shot
Here's a few links for everybody
>Noroi

>Occult

>Tetsuo: The Iron Man

>The Booth

Just cause, I know everybody's probably seen them all
I've seen Funky Forest and it seemed like a more quirky version of Survive Style 5+, which is a great movie I rewatch every a year or two. Guess it's Godspeed You Black Emperor this evening then
>Noroi
10/10 top shelf found footage, one of my favorites
>Occult
maybe it was that I watched in on youtube but I tried my best to like this movie but the very last shot completely ruined it for me
>Tetsuo
I really should watch Bullet Man once again because I remember literally nothing about it
Occult is a bit hit or miss, first time I've seen it was at a friend's house - we were drunk and high and he wanted to finish it so I watched the last third or so, from the scene where Shiraishi decides to film the Ceremony to the end, with no context. As a short movie about suicide bombings it's great, the whole thing? Less so. The director made Cult a bit after that, not as good as Noroi but give it a go, you can find it on YouTube.
Bullet Man is atrocious, it's Tsukamoto doing a shittier version of Resident Evil - Body Hammer is far better (and funnier).

listening to this at the moment
one day I'll finish A Touch of Zen
Dare mo Shiranai
>Can't finish a film
Just kill yourself.

more like kurosawa's memes
davidbordwell.net
if you're a fan of kung fu you have to read this film essay
...
this is one of the weirder asian films I've seen
Just watched The Crazy Family, good stuff.
Definitely my favorite Kurosawa period piece
loved this one
Is Sion Sono a meme? Even Miike has a better good/bad film ratio at this point.
I miss gangster John Woo
...
gonna watch In the Mood for Love today with my gf
Suicide Club was good, Noriko's Dinner Table too. Got Cold Fish and Tokyo Tribe on my hard drive to watch, a friend said they're pretty good. Can't vouch for the shit he directs when he gets overproductive.
Recommending Goyokin, it's much better than Hideo Gosha's more popular samurai movies.
Tokyo Tribe is maybe the most cringeworthy film ever made.
If you don't cry a little bit and get laid afterward then neither you nor your gf exist my man
His gf will fall asleep because the movie is boring and OP will end up whispering his frustrations into a wall.
You don't bring your chink shit to this thread
...
We /hopping vampires/ now.
ever see Legend of the 7 Golden Vampires? the Hammer Horror/Shaw Bros coproduction
Hong Kong used a bunch of Japanese cinematographers under Chinese names
It's only boring if you are a complete and utter fag- Oh yeah. Right. Sorry OP.
Nope. I haven't seen that many. It's a shame Rigor Mortis wasn't better.
That's Taiwanese not Japanese.
FYI: nip = Nipponese = Japanese, not Chinese or Taiwanese.
i wouldn't call it a good film and it's surprisingly less wacky than you'd expect but there's a comical novelty in seeing Peter Cushing hanging out with kung fu stars.
...
no one cares
Does this count? I liked it
...
No, its made by an American.
Always wondered why the had to make her a mute.
Did the nobility have a different way of speaking?
i thought she had a regional accent or something

No mention of this fucking plebbitors.

Who /womaninthedunes/ here?
Is this the best Kurosawa flick?

:)
Nobody thinks that, not even you.

Am I the only one who think Yojimbo is easily Kurosawa's greatest movie?
it's his most fun
Personal favorites:
>Ikiru
>EoE
>The Mourning Forest
>EoE
We are talking about real films, not children cartoons
>We truly were the Seven Samurai
i just can't get into Ozu despite appreciating his technical ability
Get this hothead out of here.
Isn't life disappointing?
>people defending EoE
Yeah it looks cool, and its is deep if you're a 14 year old but it isn't Kurosawa
...
>Kiyoshi Kurosawa was making a Chinese language Japanese historical movie without ghosts starring Tony Leung Chiu-wai
>It got cancelled
Kurosawa and Ozu would be proud if they were lucky enough to experience this masterpiece kino.
EoE's greatness doesn't come from any perceived or assumed "depth" though.
>flawed characters struggling with internal dread amidst external struggle, ending with a bittersweet, but ultimately hopeful message rooted in basic existentialism
Right in Kurosawa's wheelhouse, just replace the giant robots with wandering samurai.
>kid jerking off on a little girl
so Kurosawa
>drama
>horror
>gore
litterally off yourself manchild
Epic.
Look at this pleb
bump
That's some kick ass choreography.
Lau Kar Leung is one of the best fight directors there is
man friggin Love Exposure was a masterpiece, it's 4 hours long, but it's like 3 movies put together telling a fucked up overarching story, it never stops being interesting or crazy-compelling
Awesome thread.
Here's one of my fav
damn, Charlie Brownsan can fight
>Kurosawa
Christ, Sup Forums isn't lying when they call this place pleb central. You need to understand that the more intelligent a film is the harder it is to explain. Kurosawa is nothing compared to any of Anno's stuff. His magnum opus, End of Evangelion, is a multifaceted social commentary and deconstruction of the mecha genre, as well as a protean character study exploring the duality of man and the master/slave dialectic. Only the highly educated can realize the multiple layers of complexity, and actually be able to understand and appreciate such a highly intelligent masterpiece.
>tfw no Hiroshi Teshigahara blu ray set
Well fuck.
It's bittersweet news because I live in Europe and Criterion only releases few selected movies in here.
why are they all running
I just watched Kagemusha last night. Fuck it was good, didn't even get bored during the long run time.
