She'll "survive" but its going to be pretty detrimental on pop culture's growth

Probably not, she's trying way too hard and it's turning people off. When was the last time she was really relevant anyway? I don't really pay attention to her.

Why do America men dress like that btw?

no. she already looks like a lesbian mom. its too late now.

watch the comedy

lived in several different places in america all 25 years of my life and literally never seen anyone dressed like that

Only if she started acting like a woman in her 30's and went for an older demographic. Instead, she's going the opposite route.

No one who goes to cochella can actually be called a man.

I will never understand why shitty pop singers after they get rich didn't stop themselves of recording another shit and just retire. Her networth is 180000000$, she can live for that even when she's gonna have many plastic surgeries after she get really old.

Me neither.

>I will never understand why shitty pop singers after they get rich didn't stop themselves of recording another shit and just retire.
they are literally slaves. look at kesha for example. most of them are locked into 10 year contracts that they can't escape. also the industry has already brainwashed her into never ever not craving attention so yeah.
fame > networth

ugh it's fucking depressing, the only positive thing in being a famous pop singer is money you know? Maybe she really looks like she crave attention but i don't really think that anyone likes when every fucking person on street knows who you are or paparazzi are always hunting for you.

I bet at some point they regret it, or want to live a normal life again. Some people enjoy the fame, those are the ones you see taking it hard when they start to lose it.

Katy seems like she is taking her fall lightly. At least she pretends to do. Lady Gaga was having constant meltdowns on Twitter when her career was dying in 2013 with Artpop.

for some reason I read this as pornstar-in-her-thirties twice

Pornstars have more dignity than this old hag

I wonder if Lady Gaga still have die hard fans. I mean there's no way that people who listened to her music back when she was famous aren't right know old enough to understand how bad she was. It's like you know still listening to your favorite boysband from childhood as an adult. She's not that famous anymore and kids won't listen to her music because you know she's 31 year old and there are already more famous and younger singers.

Read it as popstar-in-her-titties

still have die hard fans? she released a jazz cover album that went to #1 and sold over a million copies

It was 3 years ago.

Selling over a million copies is nothing when you compare it to the 15000000 she sold when she was famous.

and she got another #1 album last year with pop-rock/country songs, the antithesis of the current billboard hot 100

?

why would you expect a jazz cover album to sell the same as a mainstream pop album. also different sales climate

know a few girls who are still eating up gagas shit like it was 2011 again, really weird to see

Joanne is a future mom-core classic

She sells less and less with every record. I woldn't be suprised if her next record didn't sold more than half a milion copies. It's funny how people were thinking that she's the next Madonna when you can obviously see that she is now still selling more than Lady Gaga and she's 58 years old. There's no way that in 10 years people will still remeber Gaga.

So many albums that hit #1 on Billboard's list don't sell much. Gaga went from selling 20 million albums to barely 2 million in the span of 5 years from The Fame and Artpop. She was a fad, people moved on. Lucky for her her core fanbase (fags) stick around so she will keep having moderate success unlike Katy whose core base was tweens that just grew up and got over her.

Have you guys not been to Los Angeles or something?

big facts

fame monster alone already cemented her status. she doesn't need to do anything else. in 2015 the song writers fall of fame literally just invented an award for her

ummm you do realize the entire point of this exchange was questioning if gags had a strong fanbase or not. for her joanne tour she's doing bigger venues than rihanna, one of the most relevant celebrities in the world. what does that tell you

We will see how much she will gross from those big venues. Don't get me wrong, I think Gaga can still fill small venues 20 years from now, be cause she's got a voice. But people expected much more from her career compared to Katy. Noone thought she would get another hit after I Kissed a Girl. None of Gaga's fan thought she would be singing boring country ballads, and barely cracking top 10 of Hot 100 only 9 years into her career.

No.

that mindset regarding katy changed during teenage dream, even tho katy never had as much "respect" as gaga due to being a horrid live performer in every single way.

no one will argue that gaga had a huge decline, but the way some people talk is as if she's on christina aguilera/ciara level

So who ends up being the Queen of Pop in the 2005-2015 era?

If Katy Perry didn't try to be raunchy by copying Miley Cyrus with her haircut and teehee rappers and instead tried to be raunchy by going backwards to the tits and fruit I guarantee she'd suddenly get a big following from tumblr girls and maintain more of her normie following.

La is a shithole, everyone dresses stupid as fuck, and its normal there

Beyonce tbqh familia

Katy and her team are just retarded. Katy can play guitar, and sound decent if she's just standing there. If she were to do something simple like this
youtube.com/watch?v=ZjmhwpzCbrY
It would do wonders

I think in that period Rihanna has more #1 singles than Beyonce put in the top 10. Beyonce has double the Instagram followers but Rihanna has 5x the Twitter followers (I'm guessing B's is just a publicity account or something though). Using wikipedia numbers it looks like Beyonce sold ~25m over 5 albums while Rihanna did ~36m over 8 (I never realised every Beyonce album has went #1 in the US though, holy shit. Also I didn't check data for streaming). Anecdotally I've heard way more riri radio domination and I feel a lot of beyonce mentions come from her power couple status. Given Beyonce's album performance she might have a case, I guess it depends whether QofPop means artisty and legacy or the performance of your singles. IMO Beyonce is the more talented artist but I could listen to a case for Rihanna being queen based on the power of her singles performance

beyonce only stays relevant through jay-z, who in turn only stays relevant through Kanye West

Why would it solely be based off singles. What about album sales? tour gross? Should be based off of all that

I think singles performance has to be a fairly large chunk of it though. Even though he has the better legacy do you really think Kanye can be considered the King of Pop over Drake?

That's tough but at this point in time I don't think he surpasses Drake. Views was more successful than Pablo and More Life is really successful despite it not being a "real" album or whatever

That was a good performance btw

oops meant for

I think the X of Pop has to do with reigning over the charts, which favors somebody like Drake or Bieber over a legacy artist like Kanye (Kanye's chart performance isn't really very good). However if you approach it as ruling over the cultural landscape there's more room for people like Kanye or Beyonce (even though I think this is something Drake and Biebs obviously excel in as well, I think this is where Beyonce gains steam against Rihanna though, I can't imagine riri being remembered fondly once she starts losing her sex appeal and the next thing takes over). Although I guess this also begs the question of whether someone is crowned in the moment or with a bit of forced perspective through the passage time
