what's that, i'm dumb

I'm still so disappointed that Brainfeeder and the rest of that scene slowed down their output immensely.

I really thought the LA beat scene was gonna be enormous

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dynamic_range_compression#Side-chaining

basically when the drum machine lowers the sound or main pad.

It's all about sad lo-fi anime beats now son. That's getting shit ton of views on YouTube.

Sidechaining is that pulse sound you hear in all EDM music when the bass kicks. You know how it sounds like the whole song "breathes" when the kick comes in? Thats sidechaining

thank you, that was a great non-technical explanation

kick triggers the compressor
compressor compresses other instrument instead of kick
there

>Lapalux hasn't released anything since 2015
>Shlohmo went down the trap alley
>Teebs' last proper release dates back to 2014
>Ash Koosha is nothing special
>Rustie stopped being good after his first full length
>S.Maharba nowhere to be seen
>Shigeto now makes ambient
>Flume insists in having vocals in every track

i miss s.maharba :(

what the hell is wrong with these people?
Why did they all just bow out at almost exactly the same time?

what the fuck is happening. Even FlyLo hasn't done shit since 2014 except for shitty pop culture mixes

he made a movie

I really do miss Bad Vibes-era Shlohmo

that sound was really overused for a period and as a result it sounds horribly dated now. it won't be big again for a while, until it can revived as a retro thing.

i think lapalux is releasing something soon

I remember first listening to this and it blowing my mind, it put me in trances. anyone got other stuff like it?

rustie is dealing with drug addiction stuff so he bowed out of music for the time being.

as for as the whole "lo fi glitch hip hop sound", they all stopped making it because it's easy. that whole genre is over-saturated, since all you need is a jazz/fusion sample, know how to sidechain in your DAW, get the filters + vinyl effect down, and not have perfectly quantized drums.

What's the new scene that replaced this for people?
I have a feeling it's either hippy trap, future funk, or lofi anime

...

Your (You)

honestly just listen to the rest of flylo's discography
it's all pretty great

dated? looooool

speaking of heavy side-chaining

>jai paul album when
