i stopped listening to a lot of metalcore because the lack of style gets boring.
how can i describe it without seeming like i'm trying to shit on it.
the band's vocalist will yell, that's all he'll do really. the drummer will just play blast beats, there won't be any jazz breakdowns or anything. the guitar players don't ever pause, they've constantly got to be filling layers up or they'll pause and then a piano will start playing.
Remembering Never is good because sometimes the vocalist will sing and make it actually work in the song without people wanting to label them "emo" or some other stupid bullshit.
the new cool thing to do is have at least one electronic track on your album and have the vocalist be able to do more than yell. Candiria, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Between the Buried and Me, these guys are actually creative.
