It was very visible in "The Big Short". I think I was distracted by it when I should have been more involved in the plot. Surely it blocks his vision slightly.

I'll give a serious answer. Probably 2 reasons: (1) it will leave a scar and (2) it would likely grow back, as it is a wart.
I had a mole on my back removed, the doc removed it and stitched it into a tiny hole. But as I moved my back around the stiches opened up and it became a large open wound which formed a big raised scar. So I'm guessing Bale would rather have the wart than a big raised scar.
Seems really common in the UK to have facial warts. I wonder why.

It wasn't visible when he was a child actor. And each year it gets bigger. It appears to have doubled in size and changed to a darker color over the last 6 years. If he doesn't remove it, the mole will be even larger shortly... But the fact that he hasn't already removed it is bizarre. But then again, so is his behavior on the set and in real life.
