What's the best film in the series, and why is it Prisoner of Azkaban?

>and why is it Prisoner of Azkaban?
It was also the best book.

You've got that right, son.

But that's not Goblet of Fire

No, globet was went they went overboard with the special snowflake crap.

Because del taco

Bonnie Wright was super cute back there...

It's too hard to choose a favorite DESU. I am the same age as the characters as the films released every time so I can relate to every single film really well. The film I like the least is probably the Goblet though because it seems to be the least HP film to me like theres 2 other schools taking up too much screen time (and only exist for that movie essentially even though the dark lord has returned?) Not enough focus on all the characters.

they all suck 2bh

Quite literally none of them. The series is one of the dullest franchises in the history of movie franchises. Each episode following the boy wizard and his pals from Hogwarts Academy as they fight assorted villains has been indistinguishable from the others. Aside from the gloomy imagery, the series’ only consistency has been its lack of excitement and ineffective use of special effects, all to make magic unmagical, to make action seem inert.

Perhaps the die was cast when Rowling vetoed the idea of Spielberg directing the series; she made sure the series would never be mistaken for a work of art that meant anything to anybody?just ridiculously profitable cross-promotion for her books. The Harry Potter series might be anti-Christian (or not), but it’s certainly the anti-James Bond series in its refusal of wonder, beauty and excitement. No one wants to face that fact. Now, thankfully, they no longer have to.

>a-at least the books were good though r-right
"No!"
The writing is dreadful; the book was terrible. As I read, I noticed that every time a character went for a walk, the author wrote instead that the character "stretched his legs."

I began marking on the back of an envelope every time that phrase was repeated. I stopped only after I had marked the envelope several dozen times. I was incredulous. Rowling's mind is so governed by cliches and dead metaphors that she has no other style of writing. Later I read a lavish, loving review of Harry Potter by the same Stephen King. He wrote something to the effect of, "If these kids are reading Harry Potter at 11 or 12, then when they get older they will go on to read Stephen King." And he was quite right. He was not being ironic. When you read "Harry Potter" you are, in fact, trained to read Stephen King.

Agreed.
Agreed. Also if you refuse to do it then just go to Sup Forums or back to twitter.

Kill yourself

Your bait would have been better without your shitty meme image. You also write like you were already in your twenties when the movies started releasing.

Thought this was horse porn or something.

2nd best book, but easiest to adapt. It's a great and simple story, has great character moments, good moments for actors to shine, and had best director.

I actually like chamber more than all of them―both the book and film.

I honestly cannot remember any of these films or what they were even about.

I think you meant Harry Potter and the Cursed Child

That's the only one where I thought the film improved upon the book. Azkaban is an ok film but the book is much better still.

JUST

Because its the only one that tried to be a film instead of a product

Order of the Phoenix is the best book, and I was pretty miffed that the film version was so bad. But I guess you would have needed a three hour+ movie to flesh it out properly

Great music and great acting.

Also Sirius and Remus.

Overall just a good plot.

>Order of the Phoenix is the best book
Fuck that. Although it had parts I loved, it dragged on in Sirius's house really, really badly.

The longest book had the shortest movie in the series. They cut out so much shit that should have been in there

>The Great Gatsby
>Atlas Shrugged
Fucking high schoolers. Any lost that claims to rank book tiers and doesn't have Anna Karerina in the highest tier is pure garbage, btw.

Order of the Pheonix has the best character development and acting in all the movies. Despite losing a lot of "stuff" that doesn't really have much impact on the overall story, it handles everything it does have fantastically.

Order of the Phoenix is my favorite book in the series and probably my favorite movie in the series too. Probably because of all the wizard battles compared to the other movies.

Yeah, that's true. I guess I like it so much because of the shenanigans that take place at Hogwarts that year. Honestly if Harry didn't spend so much of the time in the later books brooding in teenage angst, it'd probably be more of a tossup for me

Half blood Prince is literally: "Nothing happens and then Dumbledore dies" the movie so it's shit.

you are damn right, my friendo.

best pace and cinematography.

PoA can't be the best film. It and GoF shared the same "oh-shit-we're-out-of-time-we-better-talk-super-fucking-fast-during-the-climax-and-skip-a-lot-of-backstory" tier pacing

And OotP skipped a lot of important stuff that was even brought up again in later films, like Sirius's mirror. Which I guess isn't a big deal, but was kind of jarring when watching the films back to back.

Is this pasta?

How do people still not realize that this is pasta?

I recently reread OOTP and holy shit, it takes forever for him to actually get to hogwarts, like longer than any the first 3 books were.

Does any movie/book have more plot holes than Deathly Hallows?

>Narcissa tells Voldemort that Harry is dead for literally no reason
>Harry finds out about the crown of Ravenclaw from Ravenclaw's daughter, literally just by asking her off handedly despite that generations of students(save Voldemort) never did the same thing
>Harry can perfectly use the Imperius Curse the very first time he attempts it
>Harry's cloak is the "one true invisibility cloak" but Mad-Eye Moody can see through it in the 4th movie/book

There are more but those are the most egregious.

That's because there's more that takes place out of Hogwarts there. Has to set up the Order and the Ministry since that's the main plot, right?

I also recently reread the books, and I only just noticed that it takes literally half of the first book for him to get to Hogwarts. It's a much shorter book for sure, but the Dursley bits seemed to drag on forever

why is loli hermione best hermione?

Cause you're a pedo

The bossy attitude worked better for her

But let's ignore Watson for a minute and discuss what a hot piece of ass Pansy Parkinson turned into

>the Dursley bits seemed to drag on forever
To be fair, I think this is because you remember the movies better and they run through that shit at lightning speed.

Narcissa tells voldy that harry is dead because what's important to her is draco. If harry aint dead draco will be punished for it. So she had to lie dumbass

I loved the first three books + films where it's just meddling kids snooping their nose in everything and blaming Snape.

haven't seen any of them because I'm not a 12 year old girl

This

"Snape's mean to me so everything that goes wrong has to be his fault"

The first book was the best about it I feel, what with snape always being next to Quirrel when the latter was doing shit to harry, like the Quidditch jinx and making his scar hurt

>atlas shrugged
>anything other than shit tier
get real paul ryan

Why is Ron and Black Hermione's kid full black? Is Ron a cuck?

Why? If Harry was alive Voldemort could have literally killed him again. If Narcissa lies and they get back to all of Harry's friends and he's alive Voldemort is going to be even more pissed. It was a weak reason.

Christ man it isn't that hard to figure out. Narcissa and Draco were having misgivings the whole book because of the way they were treated after lucius's failure. By the time she had to check on harry in that forest, she wasnt loyal to Voldemort anymore, just there out of fear. All she wanted to know was whether her son was okay, and if harry was alive that meant that the prophesy that was basically common knowledge by then was true, and that he was going to win and kill voldy. She saw that because harry was alive and so was Draco, she now had the slightest hope of living happily ever after with her son, which is a chance she took as a mother would

Because it had the best director.

What the fuck went right?

prisoner of azkaban is GOAT until they introduce the time turner.

nah chamber of secrets was the best, the rifftrax for it was also the best

Your forgetting:
>the concept of wands switching allegiance based on victory being pulled out of nowhere.
>In a narrative that is already focused on finding rare magical artifacts throwing three more in at the last minute.
>hiding in the woods for half the fucking book while all the interesting stuff happens off screen.
>an epilogue straight out of a hallmark comercial
J.K really dropped the ball on the last book.

Rifftrax is the most unfunny forced piece of shit commentary I've ever heard. Literal cancer lioe being forced to watch a movie with an asshole who won't shut the fuck up

Why do people seriously think this?
Best film was the very first one.
Best book was the 5th one.

1 is one of the worst the others are much better made Chris

>1 is one of the worst
You people are dead to me.

1>2>5>8>7>3>6>4

The two Dear Reader audios are based

I can only hope they will cover all 8 someday

You are dead to me. Try saying the first two are the best in public you'll get laughed at. Literally read some reviews your oversights are unacceptable.

3>7.1>6>5>2>8> 1>4

Well doubtful Brad will do more, but after a different person did 2 and it was good, just gotta hope more people try and do the last 6

Why don't we all just write the third one since its the best wandkino and we can have an user record it

I never read reviews and your opinions are fucking trash.
>Try saying the first two are the best in public you'll get laughed at
Bullshit. Most agree because they were the most nostalgic and magical feeling.
I don't hear anyone defending the ones post 5 irl except for the "cool battles"

Obviously outside of the title, azkaban would be replaced with Alcatraz, All I can find for the third movie is this one video
youtube.com/watch?v=JsaqIjOtZQk

>your oversights are unacceptable

What a line. I imagine you tossing your cape behind you as you say it, laughing slyly at the pleb whose world you have just destroyed! Oh, the justice that was brought upon him this day!

Fuck off you have zero critiques. They first two adaptations direction and camera work have been ripped apart for their simplicity. Columbus made easy work of it. No shit they are nostalgic. The others are better acted and have tighter tones and atmospheres exceot goblet of fire there you are correct. Youre full of shit because 2 is better than 1

>can't handle the bants

Yea like I said you're out if touch. Literally the definition of going against public opinion. Most of the people you talk to cant even focus on the latter ones because they are too boring kek

>liberals still reply to this because of atlas shrugged being on it despite the image being obvious bait

6 is obviously the best

Glad we have some taste ITT now. Its top 2 or 3 for me but its hard to rank my top 3.

I liked Goblet of Fire.

t. Mike Newell

>Yea like I said you're out if touch. Literally the definition of going against public opinion.
Never spoke to a single person who liked the later ones.
When I have yet to encounter a single person aside from, well, you and other on fucking Sup Forums, who disagree with me, I don't feel out of touch at all.

The graveyard and dragon scenes were neat

Lol there's literally tens of millions of people who like them. Many have in fact posted in these threads lurk more for the rank threads. Its literally a meme thinking the first two are the best glad you have friends who have zero taste birds of a feather and all.

See

>zero critiques
The fuck are you smoking, its my opinion, I don't give a fuck about any of the shit you're talking about.

>They first two adaptations direction and camera work have been ripped apart for their simplicity

the twist with snape in 7 was so fucking gay i couldn't believe it when i read it. it was the biggest 'fuck you' and pretty much ruined the series for me.
