yeah i heard that aussie internet is total garbage, must feel bad

i pay around 10euro a month for this

I pay $90 a month feelsbadman.jpg

holy shit, limited data too i suppose?

Yeah man 350gb a month, they're working on the nbn in the area and my speed dropped form 18 to what you see now. Rang my isp and asked for a credit for the time my internet is fucked cause I can't even stream anything. They said yes but keep fucking me around and are sending a fault tech out.

Jumping isps the second my contract is up.

comcrap isn't as bad as I thought it was going to be, at least it isn't atnt

I was getting barely 3mbit at some point on this very same connection, had to bug my isp for around 2 months untill they finally understood that nothing is wrong with cables in my home and the issue is with their aggregation. Its been fine since then.

Also isnt australia rolling out fibre everywhere right now?

You must be from baltic countries

czech republic, you can figure that out from the domain on the pic

...

Damn u're right. My bad. Here in lithuanian we have exactly the same internet for same price.
wp man

I pay about $100 for unlimited uncapped. Suddenlink service is shit though. Usually cuts out 3 times a week.

1/2 the speed i was promised for 90 usd a month...

300 € for rent in my apartment and my internet speed is incorporated in the rent. I could pay 15 € to get down/up to a hundred but I do not really need it.

20 euros/month

and location: Finland

Fuck you i pay 20e for this speed and tv

100 usd a month

perth reporting

beta.speedtest.net/result/6298608243.png

collage internet ;)

how much do you have to pay for that in aus?

~65$ / month for this kind of connection

that's a $400 per month business line uncapped i have to my house

...

5€/month, Finland.

£20/month UK

Bullshit

My Verizon FIOS in North NJ

but that is true.

I wouldn't be surprised, finland is one for those 50%+ taxes socialised countries, maybe they have some kind of internet subsidy program.

Is that typical speed there?

what do you do for a living? and what do you do with those speeds? perthian aswell

Ono in Spain. 40 euros/month

Hello fellow FiOS bros

Triple play TV + Phone + gigabit for $94.99/month

No but there are some poverty tier country wide limits for sure.
Until very recently the maximum upload you could get on a resident connection was 2Mbit/sec.
It could go as high as 100Mbit down if you we extremely lucky and lived in one of 3 cities but even then you'd still have 2Mbit up or often lower.
Most of the country is still like this but some slightly better internet has been being rolled out by the government except it's a total clusterfuck and it's way over budget so they decided to introduce a broadband tax to rub salt in the wound.

Yes

Perth.shitbroadband

i work for a isp...this is at work

Go to share this result and get the image, i want to see how that compares to the rest of the country.

LOL, what sort of ISP has 100mbps internal networking in 2017?

Most people posting from ISP links are at least on 1gbps, if not 10gbps, then the bottleneck is usually the speedtest server.

lmao
get fucked xD

...

38 days till NBN, counting down the days.

inb4 shitty 30-40mbps when 100mbps is advertised.

Yay 1.6 mbit/s more! 38 days away

Cocks Cable is about the same

Typical bullshit Australian connection.

$70 for 1Mbps. Had to pay an extra $20/month for 2Mbps so I could have a connection capable of a basic fucking Skype call. Yep. It's fucking $20 per megabit here.

Our government is so desperate we have propaganda about the bloody network, from channel 9, to online ads, to even a whole website

Around here comcast offers 2gbps service for $149.99. But seems kinda jewish considering no one fucking owns 10gbps network equipment to even utilize more than 1gbps.

And on top of that, they want $1000 for install fees. Fuck em, i'll keep my 1gbps for under $100.

wow expensive. crocodiles eating the cables all the time, must be.

...

Hey fuker how u get that kind of speed with suddenlink???? I have them too.... and probably live in the same area as u

if you download for example torrents, how fast it will come to your hard drive?

...

Torrents will depend how well seeded it is.

But connecting to steam, or Star Citizen and I can usually hit 850-920mbps.

Interesting, it's lower than i expected.
Thanks.

...

Thats NBN fibre to house

doesn't it depends also how fast hard drive you have?

I'm going 50/20, I should be able to get that or very close to it from reading posts on WP about distance from the node.

No?

full gigabit connection at max would be 1000mbps divide by 8 to get bytes instead of bits and that's 125MB/s

Most modern hard drives should have no problem with sustained write speeds under 150MB/s.

Besides I have 1TB worth of Solid state drives that can do 500-2000MB/s which is significantly faster than my internet by a factor of like 10.

> (You)
>Yes
Mercy. Here I was thinking Spain was shit-tier.

Here is what I found for suddenlink and a random San Angelo address I entered.

$99 aint too bad for gigabit service.

To illustrate the point further, here is my 5TB WD black in a 1GB read/write test.

Around 200MB/s write speed

Have NBN FTTH for ~2 years now in Brisbane. I feel bad for everyone that got fucked over by the shitty FTTN/MTM.

FUCK, wish I could get that 200 Unlimited one in Australia.
I pay $90 AUD for 6 Mbps down & 0.87 Mbps upload.

FUCKING BULLSHIT. FUCK YOU COALTION YOU BUNCH OF CUNTS FOR DEMOLISHING FTTH NETWORK.

Will they continue to upgrade FTTH customers or when upgrades happen will they scale back to FTTN for them as well?

New Zealand. 1000/500, $129 NZD/mo.
This service is available to a large percentage of the country.

How about this one?
1gbps unlimited

As far a I know, areas that have FTTH online will keep FTTH. The NBNs MTM plan is to use the FTTH already completed, along with FTTN, HFC and Fixed Wireless/satellite for regional.

It's possible that one day FTTN could be upgraded to FTTH, but it all depends on our shitty government.

u mad OP?

>mfw internet in peehole, india is better than australia

I'd much rather waited till next year to get NBN. I would have had a chance at getting FTTC.

they kept charging me for going over the 250gig a month limit so I called and flipped shit for there being a limit and they offered up an unlimited plan since I was consecutively over 6 months in a row.
Plus they just added a server here in san angelo so ping is low

Fair enough, my ISP in the US is using the same tech the NBN FTTH was using. When they recently upgraded to allow for 1gbps service they simply upgraded each node with more GPON links and then assigned 4 houses per GPON link instead of 16 as they were previously doing.

4 customers share a 2.4gbps download and 1.2gbps upload. This allows for 2 customers to be on 1gbps packages at the same time and the other 2 can be anywhere between 50 and 150mbps (maybe 300mbps).

Hopefully they can do similar node upgrades for you guys and not fuck you over.

that's not how GPON works

You can pay for gigabit but its not up yet.
classic suddenlink

Yeah it is. To upgrade a GPON network you just lay more strands to the cabinet and then add more GPON cards for however many splits you want/need.

Each house is already linked up for FTTH, the only upgrades that need to be done are at the cabinet level and at the COs.

kek, really? That's funny. They were advertising it hard on their homepage.

splits are done with optical splitters (a prism). You don't understand GPON.

IT Operations Manager

They tried the same shit with me I told them I was gonna yell until someone was fired and some one else was crying

Yes, and if you lay more strands, you just have more splitters.

What's so hard to understand here?

I am speaking from first hand experience on a GPON network for over a decade now.

I started on GPON when Verizon was offering 25/5mbps, upgrade to 25/25mbps, then 50/50mbps, then 150/150mbps, and now 1gbps.

They started off with BPON, but quickly moved over to GPON and have been using GPON since about 2008/9.

When they recently upgraded their network to allow for 1gbps (within the past 6 months) they simply increased how many fiber strands were being fed to each cabinet, and then added the appropriate number of splitters for the households connecting to the cabinet.

When I upgraded from 150/150mbps, all it took was a phone call and a 1 hour wait. Then i had 1gbps. No upgrades were done to my property at all, it was ALL done at cabinet and central office levels, not at the customer level.

ATT Fiber Optic

They are only doing fibre to the node, not to the home. Meaning the primary infrastructure is fibre, but homes connect to the hub via the shitty old copper wire that is like 30 years old.

This country is fucking medieval, seriously. Read this (it is a reddit thread, but it has some good insight into why Australia is so fucked when it comes to internet)

reddit.com/r/explainlikeimfive/comments/40m0t8/eli5why_is_australian_internet_so_bad_and_why_is/

>tfw your ISP is going to deploy XG-PON2 (Synchronous 10gbps down/up) by 2025.

79.99 /mo century link
10m down .2 up

Only service in my area want to die

We will never see that in Australia. Our government is once again holding the country back.

Not sure why us Aussies get so fucked with upload speed but here is my speed on Telstra Cable in Melbourne! I Pay $90 per month but for Australia this is decent and the download speed is consistent with connection being 100% reliable.

Works better than it used to, Melbourne Aus kid here

Yeah, and apparently they're still deciding between XG-PON2 and NG-PON2.

They successfully did field trials of XG-PON2 back in 2010 or 2011, but NG-PON2 offers 40gbps download with 10gbps upload, so they might end up going for that instead of the 10/10gbps of XG-PON2.

100 mbps for 10 euros in baltics? Get out of here.

here is my best wifi result

Best wired result here ()

yea bu internet here at il is shit tier for unknown reasons

>for unknown reasons
$$$$$$

90 US dollars. goddamn you are overpaying as fucking fuck. I get 500 mbit for maybe 35 euro's

Baltics.
Paying 20 euros a month

Not at hom so crap connection here. Atleast 500 at my house

...

Here's my Australian result, idk why they say we have shit net its not gbps but 100/100 fibres pretty nice, i went for 100/40 because i don't seed torrents.

NBN was an australian wide thing so everyone should have the same internet as me, if not better, such as down the road they have this place with 1-2gbps up/down (only saw it do a little over 1 up/down tho not sure if they shitting but they said it could do 2 on a good day idk, anyway that's like a college campus though, back when i used to go there a few years ago.
